How I upgraded the SSD on my Dell 3880 from 256 GB to 1TB: I downloaded Macrium Reflect’s free program and used it to clone (NOT image) the internal SSD drive to my internal hard drive, which I had previously swapped with an empty one. I unscrewed the DDR drive, removed the screw and the screw mount beneath it. I then replaced the SSD with a Samsung 1TB SSD 980 NVMe M.2 Drive --this drive is twice as long-- and replaced the screw and screw mount into the next screw hole over on the motherboard.
I then restarted the computer-it booted to the hard drive and opened windows. I went into Computer Management - Storage - Disk Management, and the new drive did not show up. I restarted the computer, and returned to Disk Management where a pop-up asked me to choose the new drive’s partition style. I chose Guid. It then showed up as an unallocated disk, so it was not in my directory, but I could see it in Disk Management.
I then opened Macrium Reflect and selected clone the hard drive and chose the SSD as the target. I then dragged the partitions one-at-a-time from the hard drive to the SSD, leaving the largest partition for last. When I dragged that partition down, I selected it and clicked “cloned partition properties” and I maximized the size to use all the remaining unallocated drive space by dragging the button on the bar.
Then I directed the program to clone. When it was done, I shut the computer down, swapped back in my original hard drive for the one I was using for the clone, and restarted. Perfect!
Hey, you did a good job ! I appreciate that you explained your process well and suggested Macrium Reflect for cloning. Thanks !
No drama, high quality content with clarity and precision. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure!
You are super good at explaining everything, thanks!
Thank you
You are the best pc tech channel ever! Thank you so much for this video!
You're very welcome!
I upgraded my power supply to a Corsair sf750 and got a 24 pin to 6 pin adapter and it works perfect. I only screwed in 1 screw because it was the only screw that aligns, and I got a cpu extension cable because the one that comes with the Corsair isn’t long enough.
Have a picture of your power supply to share ?
you can buy an adapter to use a standard power supply and I have modified my case to hold the power supply internally (matx style)...and an exhaust fan on the side panel to because this motherboard does not like heat from a decent video card!
I'd set up a 120mm intake and Dremel out some of that front panel. Wouldn't look horrible either granted you put a little effort into uniformity.
thanks this video is super helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Good job, keep it up
Thank you, I will
Good video, however this is a low-end configuration of the 3880. The version with an i7 CPU and an SSD drive uses one M.2 slot for an SSD, and the remaining M.2 slots for the WiFi-bluetooth card. There would be no additional M.2 slots available for other M.2 expansion. Any expansion cards that need power would require a power splitter and might exceed the power supply capacity.
Thanks for the info!
This helped so much, thank you!
You are welcome
moms knocking at the door ...go help her with the groceries!
Should do a CMOS battery replacement. That will go out sooner than a power supply. 😅
very helpful, thank you.
You are welcome
Do you know there is a Dell Inspiron 3881 on Dell's website, 1 of the usb 3.0 has been replaced with a usb type C and on the back, there is a display port as well
Thanks for the comment.
Do you know if it's for video or data?
@@johnbob4545 USB C for data
Excellent. God bless you.
Thank you
I have that same computer
Glad the video helped.
Wow, I just ordered 2 sticks of RipJaws V Series. I wonder if they are going to fit. It looks tight under that shroud right above the RAM slots.
Good luck
@@UbergeeksBiz oh that doesn't sound good. Ah I can always return it and get the thinner cards. We gotta try right.
@@UbergeeksBiz It actually fit. Not a sliver of room to spare though.
@@johnbob4545 Wow... Good that it fits. Thanks for letting us know.
thank you
Many thanks 💗
You're welcome 😊
Can I add a intel arc a380 graphics card in it without upgrading the power
on website they have written recommeded power supply 300w
It will still work without issue
Excellent teacher. Do you have one on installing MS Windows and MS office 365. Please let me know. Thanks
I'll try to make those video someday. Please subscribe for new coming video.
how many sata power ports are free u can use an adapter to add a high end gpu like that just saying
Not recommend to do that. The PSU has limit of 200w power. You do not want to overload the PSU on a high end GPU.
@@UbergeeksBiz what about a pico power supply?
@@vlc9521 Do not use that. Not recommend.
@@UbergeeksBiz watch me use a 300watt pico psu
Did someone else already ask you to read off the product number for the optic drive unit? My 3880 came unbeknownst to me without one and I want to get the exact one that should have come with the unit. Can you show the product code or number so I can hound Dell for one? Please and thank you in advance.
Hi, I have a question about this model. Can I replace this psu with a sfx size psu using a 24 pin to 6 pin adapter?
Please do not do that. Something you do not want to play with electric power. Just get the exact same power supply from Dell.
@UberGeeks I have a Nvidia GTX 750ti, and the Dell Inspiron 3880, how can I install the card?
Thank you for the video! I need to add a USB root hub / more 3.0 ports to my Inspiron 3880, and was recommended a PCIe USB card. Do you have any idea if there is any PCI that would be supported by this Dell model? Mine is an i7-10700,16 GB Ram, MB Dell 05GD68, Toshiba DT01ACA100 1TB Sata, Pm991 NVMe Samsung 256GB (if any of that is relevant...). If not, what would be the best way to understand the compatibility between the Desktop and a PCIe USB card? Thank you so much!
Yes, you can get this PCIe USB adapter: amzn.to/3UFATD2
What size power supply was installed in the computer? Would that be a good replacement for a computer for a senior to use who would only use it to do some word processing, some email and very light web surfing? The old computer that needs replacing is a Dell Dimension with Windows Home XP from 2006. How much memory would I need? 4GB? 8GB? Can I get by with a 1TB HD or should I pay more for an SSD drive? Finally question; does that Dell computer come with a word processing program which I could use to create documents like a business letter; create templates of envelopes pre-addressed; etc. or would I have to purchase software separately which would allow me to do that?
Hi
It’s time for a replacement.
You can click on description below and purchase exact same desktop that I video here. It runs in 1tb Hard Drive. Which normally is large enough for any home use.
About MS Office, you need to purchase separately. Or you can download Open Office, which is free to use.
Let us know if you need help.
Thank you
Go for the SSD drive, it would be vastly faster than a 1 TB HDD. You would love it. If you need more space, add an external HDD using one of the USB 3 slots, they are very fast.
What is price
Can I add a 2.5" SSD to this computer to use as a C drive instead of the PCI slot SSD?
Yes
Hello, thanks for video, which when using this computer it says that my disc usage is at 100%. If I get an SSD will this most likely solve the problem?
And if so which one would you recommend?
@@maddlovely Do you know is your C:/ drive is running out of space or D:/ is running out of space ?
@@UbergeeksBiz I have this same issue. The C drive is running out of space. It seems to not really want to use the D drive. I uninstalled MS Office, went to settings and changed the preferred download drive to D. Then I re-installed MS Office and now get an error message when I try to open something like MS Word that says the computer is not configured to run this program. I am trying to upgrayedd the SSD to a Crucial 2.5" 1TB on the C drive to solve this.... we will see. I am also trying to connect a 2nd monitor. Should i just use the VGA, or add a different Video Card?
Thanks for the insight but what exactly are the pins used in the dell psu
This is not a regular 24pins power supply. This Dell runs on 4 pins + 8pins. 200W power supply.
@@UbergeeksBiz What size power supply should be installed in that Dell desktop computer? Is a 200 watt power supply large enough or not? I would need to purchase a new computer ready to use out of the box because I lack the technical knowledge or the ability to change out parts and install new parts myself. I need a new desktop for a senior that I can use out of the box.
Can you add a case fan anywhere on the inside?
There is no actual mounting extra fan. But you can MacGyver a fan into. Improvise an intake next to HDD. Use Sata to Fan Connector: amzn.to/3a2BBoZ and here is the FAN: amzn.to/3cRKEe2 and some zip ties.
ASUS GeForce GT710 2GB GDDR5 64-Bit 0db Low Profile Graphics Card will this fir in cpu and can it run on 200psu
Yes, this GPU will work: amzn.to/3lQ7mpg
Can i add 16 G ram to my 8G alrady in , matching sizes of ram is not important? . Should i put the big ram in bank1 or it does not matter the order? Thanks
Yes, you can add 1 additional 8gb RAM to reach 16gb RAM total.
@@UbergeeksBiz thank you for your replay but i want to add 16 G ram module which make the memory total 24 G ram 8+16 thanks
@@gt-uj6fz Yes, you can still do that.
I want to add usb-c to my 3880 but don't know compatible part. Please help
You can not add USB C
@@UbergeeksBiz Oh really? I just thought I can add a PCIE card....
i dont have a hard drive on that i have a icore5 but i don t see the hard drive
It's M.2 NVME. On motherboard
Hey I just ordered this pc, and can you please let me know what kind of graphic card I should get for gaming? It does not come with a graphic card so I need one and do not know which one is compatible. Thank you.
The power supply is on lower voltage. Meaning, you can't install graphic card that needs 6 pin or 8 pin power. Dell power supply is not enough power to power graphic card.

@@UbergeeksBiz thanks for your help sir
@@UbergeeksBiz Also, do you have any recommendations for a psu? I need to replace mine because it does not have test many watts. I need to find one compatible for the Dell inspiron 3880 desktop.
Can you change the processor to a I7 or I9?
Yes you can
is there 2gb graphics card that will fit in dell inspiron 3880
This will work: amzn.to/3lQ7mpg
Can you add an extra 3.5 disk?
No extra slot for additional HDD. You might want to consider installing M.2 NVME SSD on the motherboard. And use that 1 HDD as your secondary drive
Is Dell Inspiron 3880 good for Video editing & Games Plz suggest me.
Personally I don’t think Dell 3880 is good for video editing or gaming.
However it can run what you need, but not at the best performance.

Agreed
there is an ssd model as well mine has 512 gb ssd
What pcie slot? 2.0 or 3.0?
