I am a man and I was having such a hard time removing the 17 mm bolt. I gave it a nudge like other videos show but it wasn't moving. Then I saw your video using hammer. It was still difficult but after hammering like 20 times it started becoming loose. Thank you!

This is very impressive that you simply started taking the unit apart and diagnosing things as you encountered them. The rotor appeared to be bad so I think you did good by replacing both parts. Very good video and I think you should do more do it yourself videos for women but men can benefit too you just don't see many how to video's for appliances done by women for some reason. @@mainlypilates463 Hi Carol, shortly after the LE error, my mains circuit breaker tripped! that's when I found your video, we have identical machines. When I found the blown fuse in the control panel, and it remained dead after bridging it, I was looking at something catastrophic! LG wouldn't supply any parts, and it took many hours to track down the exact replacement, so many variations! a bit of a downer when I plugged it in and still dead! I applied mains to it's input, and the red led lit up on the pcb, so all looked good. that's when I opened the noise filter case, and found the open circuited resistor, inside an asbestos sleeve, the colour bands were burnt off but appeared to about 100 ohms 1watt, i found a 75 ohms, 5 watt to replace it. The chimes when I plugged it in was music to my ears! I bought it in 2009, and this was the first time I'd taken the back off, and watching your video gave me the confidence to get stuck in! you're a legend!💖

7:17 just fyi, i wouldnt have put the screw driver there. It prob didnt do too much damage but, its going to rest directly on the windings and will damage them. Man, i cringed at that part. I only hope you dont take my comment negatively. I just want you to know. Im very glad tho to see you taking it upon yourself to fix it. You have my admiration. I unfortunately am not as lucky as you with the one my client gave me. The control board is fried and i am currently in the process of removing the silicon encapsulating it in order to fault test the circuits on the board. I hope i can fix it. Anyway i hope your machine is still in running order.

@@mainlypilates463 well, so far there are about 30 resistors that are open circuit, a few that have been turned into wires. The transformer no longer produces a magnetic field because the coils are shorted. My hypothesis is that it has been consistently overloaded with clothes in its 14 year life span causing the hall effect sensor to tell the control board the rpms are too low making the board try to compensate by giving the motor more power, power that it cannot safely supply. It was just a matter of time. At this point now i will only work on it when i have nothing else to do. Replacement board is $240 b4 tx and ship. Its worth it but, i dont have running water LOL.

Hi James. so glad you're giving it a try. The manual told me what the error message was so I changed the cog as it was worn, but the problem wasn't solved so it could only be the sensor or it would have been fine. Be methodical. I only took the video so that I would remember what I'd done and what went where or I'd have looked a right numpty, wouldn't I.?

So if you only have silly little household ones, see if you can borrow some proper ones. I’ve been out and bought some since. Also, a magnetic dish helps with not losing anything. The first time I let the washing machine run with an empty drum. Short program ran perfectly. Then with laundry tested, ran after approx. 20min again in the LE-Error. Now I do not know however any longer. Does anyone else have an idea? What else could I do?

I think, it would be a good idea to advise your viewers to unplug your washer before touching any part inside your motor or stator.Just my 2 cent!

I’m pretty sure I did Joe, but please correct me if I’m wrong. I do hope you got something from it though X

Yep!!! Thanks, Joe - I'm gutted you didn't hang on my every word - but if you whiz to 2mins 23 seconds, you will hear me say to 'switch it off at the wall, and that isn't good enough, take the plug out' . And you see me actually doing t his too. I want to blow a raspberry and stick my tongue out at you, but I'm more polite than that! LOL x
