Good video, however if you have a clog, which you usually do if you have the OE, there's a few gallons of water in the machine. Taking off the cap dumped way more water out than a towel can handle.
Thanks for the video, every other LG washer drain repair video suggested I'd need to remove the lid or tip the washer over, and neither were an option with my stacked units in a tight space. Just popping off that lower front panel saved me a ton of effort and possibly back injury. 👍
@@JoeS97756 Yeah, removed the Philips-head screws by the filter, and was able to pop the bottom panel out like around 7:55. I must have a different model, because I was fortunate enough to not have to remove extra parts seen at 9:55 and beyond. For complete clarity, my washer was model WM1355HW
Really thanks for help, struck in troubleshooting from last 1 hours, after opening draining cover lot of mud come outside and ots resolved issue. Also I clean external pipe by shaking it.
Came back to show my result... I disassembled it 3 times... But became faster doing it haha. I unplugged every hose. The bottom one from the drum, the main one, clear. The bubbles ones (right pump motor) were clogged in the connection to the drum gum (the one that attaches to the door), cleaned them, but it was not the OE cause. The motors were working (I extracted them and tested directly to the current with a cable) I even disconnected a black somewhat big but short hose from the back, clear of obstructions also. The last possibility was the white hose going to the waste. It its the exit one, that connects to the pump. I disconnected it from the pump and removed it completely, it was separated by a plastic union. I connected one extreme to the water and left it flow but nothing was exiting from the other side. Didn't have a long thing to unclog it so I took it to the street and grabbed it frok the plastic union, then I started spinning and the centrifugal force unclogged it, expelling the waste obstruction. Tested it under the water again and now it was flowing. Reconnected everything and worked again.
Just followed your tutorial and although my machine was a bit different, it was pretty much the same. Easier actually. My control board was on the bottom of the machine facing down in the middle under the drum so the entire operation was simplified.

you need to check the drain pipe and the black pipe that drains water from wash tub into drain filter. is the water coming out when you put it on drain only. you turn on and press spin speed button. watch to see if water is coming out. Please check also if there are any coins in the pipes. one more thing the water level sensor pipe blow into it, make sure its not blocked
No water coming out with the spin cycle. Will have to let my husband know to check the pipes for coins etc. Would that cause the water to be dirty too?
@@julmckni I think there are coins and pins/nails rusted in the pipes. Check the pipe from the tub to the drain pump and the pipe from drain pump fitting to drain pipe
Great video, definitely subbing! Question for you, what if it isn't the basket or the pump? Couldn't it be possible there is a clog in the line or connection just prior to the pump? My unit is a ventless, Inverter Direct Drive, washer/dryer combo that I unfortunately inherited. My wife ran some carpet throws in it and have been having OE issues ever since. The drain door is on the left bottom and there is no removable access panel. Any online reference you can point me towards would be very appreciated. Thanks for posting your video. Well done!
Hi I have the same issue in my washer machine but I don’t know how and where to find the right draining pump can you help me where to find it please It’s a LG model WM3370HVA
I cleaned filter. Blew on the drain hose that drains to septic or wherever. When I blow in the long drain hose, it sounds and acts like it's going thru. No clog. The water in the washer bubbles when I blow on hose into washer. So is it the pump not working causing the OE error? After I cleaned the filter and blew the drain hose, I start it up, it runs for maybe 5 mins normal, but OE pops up again. Did this 2 times. Long draining process with that little hose.. Then, it.. worked..?.?. On the "Rinse spin" cycle. So I don't know what's broke.
@@askmrwashywashy I do have coin in there occasionally. It's working for now, for whatever reason tho. But I'll check the hoses and washer somehow for coins or anything if I can. Thanks.
My door won't close I've taken the door latch apart and I'm trying to put it back together and I'm confused with the top Spring That goes underneath the Gray cover model number Eb F61315802 any information how this Spring is supposed to go back in here would be much appreciated
My Washing machine isnt throwing an OE error but smells strongly. and is retaining a lot of water in the pump drain area. Draining it will alleviate the smell for a few days but then it will come back. There are no visible blocks, the filter is clean. We regularly leave the door open and run tub cleaning cycles. Could the Pump not be pushing strong enough or could there be a block in the drain hose?
Hi there. I would check the drain hose for blockages. You might also want to try and pinpoint when the problem started. If you’re using too much softener/soap could be an issue. Try and do a tub clean with 100mls bleach and 50mls white vinegar that should get rid of the bad smell
welcome. Glad you are fixing it. Which pump did you replace ? You might have replaced the recirculating pump. Also please make sure that you reinstalled the wiring to the pump. Can you hear the pump going ?
@@askmrwashywashy Thanks for replying , I replaced the drain pump ( bigger one from the left) You meant the little pump across it ? And no , there was no humming sound like it used to be when spin cycle started .
I had this problem. Replaced the pump still no go. Checked the sensor and ordered a replacement for that. On a hunch I blew into the hose feeding the sensor and felt a pop. Something had gunked up that inlet and washer has worked fine since.
@@shaunhill2466 Sensor was in the back right of the unit if you are behind it. The hose leads down to the bottom of the tub to measure water levels. It was gunked up with those scented add-in pellets. Since we have dumped those we haven't had any issue.

If you get the OE error code during your wash cycle >>> DO NOT pull out the filter BEFORE draining the water. Use the little black tube to drain the water into a basin/bowl/bucket!!
Ditto to the othe commenter. I don't have a black tube near the filter. Just a small gray one that takes up way less space than the one shown here. Is it the same thing?
This is a great video, but I wish I would have read the comments first since he didn’t mention or show the gallons of water that came pouring out when I pulled the filter out. Oh well. Live and learn!
Thanks a million times, this helped,🤗🔥♥️💕❤️💃💃💃💃, even though I ended up with the floor full of water 💧 😂😂, but I'm excited, thank you, thank you, thank you...🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙌🏼
My machine clog was up the drain line to a 90* angle, was sand and dirt small dog short hairs. Blew air compressor air back through in opposite direction of how it drains
How do I know if the pump is bad? My machine is making a loud noise, but doesn't sound like the normal sound like it's pumping. I'm assuming the pump is bad
If it’s loud noise while draining its pump . If it is while spinning it is the bearings. Best way to narrow it down is to remove filter cover and put on spin cycle to listen where the sound is coming from
I can't get the front of the washing machine off to access the pump behind. Where you unscrewed the second panel to get to the guts of the washing machine, that lower panel on mine is metal and riveted in place?
Whats the average lifespan on one of these drainpumps? I replaced mine and then only a few months later started getting OE again. I did a thoughough clean of all the pipes but i think the drain pump is failing again 😩
Hi depends on how often you wash but should last about 2 years or more. Make sure you’re buying genuine Oem replacement.so many substandard ones out there
Anyone going through the pain of this at the moment it may not be the pump ,I had a kids sock stuck in the pipe under the drum ,hadn't reached the filter, easy enough to remove pipe from drum but WHAT A BALL ACHE to get pipe back on !! Access really limited so you' re working blind, much cursing and mangled knuckles later it's back on and working. After I'd finished a had a too late brainwave ,the mrs has one of those thin spiral flexible things for removing hair and goop from plug holes this may well have reached the sock from filter end and pulled it out ,worth a try before dismantling everything and now ALL small items WILL go in a mesh bag for washing !!
I might be in the same predicament... where is it located or how you accessed it? through the back? I replaced the two pump motors and OE came again :(
@@JorgeSivilthe pipe under the drum is accessed from the front after removing panel BUT if something is stuck in that pipe you might be to get to it via the normal filter pipe on front right, you can get long pipe cleaner type plug hole cleaners designed for removing hair etc ,I reckon it may be possible to poke it in via that filter pipe and grab onto a sock or whatever is blocking it .

is the water coming out when you put it on drain only. you turn on and press spin speed button. watch to see if water is coming out.
Well done!
G'day mate. Have you done a video of actually removing the pump and putting the new on in ?
Gday I haven’t done one yet but will do one in the next few weeks. It’s simple to remove. 3 screws to undo it
Thank you! Incredibly helpful! Liked and subbed.
Glad it’s helped
Ditto! Thank you!!
Hi I have the same issue in my washer machine but I don’t know how and where to find the right draining pump can you help me where to find it please
It’s a LG model WM3370HVA
I cleaned filter. Blew on the drain hose that drains to septic or wherever. When I blow in the long drain hose, it sounds and acts like it's going thru. No clog. The water in the washer bubbles when I blow on hose into washer.
So is it the pump not working causing the OE error?
After I cleaned the filter and blew the drain hose, I start it up, it runs for maybe 5 mins normal, but OE pops up again. Did this 2 times. Long draining process with that little hose..
Then, it.. worked..?.?. On the "Rinse spin" cycle. So I don't know what's broke.
Might be a coin stuck in the pipes. I would change the drain pump as well
@@askmrwashywashy I do have coin in there occasionally.
Hi I don’t usually open up these door locks. I don’t have any of these at the moment otherwise could open one up and see how it goes back together
Quick question, does the washer make any specific sounds before the pump breaks?
yes it will sound loud. A good working pump is quiet
@@askmrwashywashy Can you show us what it normally sounds like please?
thanks for the video , i replaced the pump , clean the hose , and the hateful OE still on when spin cycle started . Any idea ? Thanks
Awesome glad you were able to fix it. Good on you for persisting with it
Where's the sensor/hose?
@@shaunhill2466 Sensor was in the back right of the unit if you are behind it. The hose leads down to the bottom of the tub to measure water levels. It was gunked up with those scented add-in pellets. Since we have dumped those we haven't had any issue.
@@jeffriechers3236 Thank you very much!
Sorry, do you blow into the exit hose? or another one?
Is it possible that mini drain hose can get clogged?
Sometimes yes
Hi sir I have a question
If waitar is not drain so spinning is working or not working pls me the answer
If not draining it won’t spin
Hi how are you. I was hoping you might be able to tell me how to replace the pump on my LG Front Loader as mine has a full panel on the front unlike yours. I don't know how to add a photo but my model number is WD1208TC4W. Ps thank you very much for your detailed video. I find a lot of people tell you how to fix but never expand if that doesn't fix the problem. I am a single mum trying to save money. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you Liz
Thanks mate. You are amazing. Would have paid a lot of money to get mine back and running. Wife is proud hahahaaha
Welcome mate. Glad the wife’s happy 😃
I did broke the cup cover of the filter, I don’t know what to do please help
If you get the OE error code during your wash cycle >>> DO NOT pull out the filter BEFORE draining the water. Use the little black tube to drain the water into a basin/bowl/bucket!!
Should have seen this before...😢😂😂 Eish!!! But thanks.
LMAO
What if there is no water coming out of the drain tube but a lot comes out of the filter port?
Thanks a million times, this helped,🤗🔥♥️💕❤️💃💃💃💃, even though I ended up with the floor full of water 💧 😂😂, but I'm excited, thank you, thank you, thank you...🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙌🏼
My LG washing machine giving out an error , but I can't figure out what is the first letter, anyway to send you picture of it ,please
My machine clog was up the drain line to a 90* angle, was sand and dirt small dog short hairs. Blew air compressor air back through in opposite direction of how it drains
Can I undo that cap if water still in machine
Yes but you will need a towel to capture all the water
hello , how to change drain pmup LG washing machine model : WDU1H466JCH ?
How do I know if the pump is bad? My machine is making a loud noise, but doesn't sound like the normal sound like it's pumping. I'm assuming the pump is bad
If it’s loud noise while draining its pump . If it is while spinning it is the bearings. Best way to narrow it down is to remove filter cover and put on spin cycle to listen where the sound is coming from
I can't get the front of the washing machine off to access the pump behind. Where you unscrewed the second panel to get to the guts of the washing machine, that lower panel on mine is metal and riveted in place?
Hi. What’s your model number ?
Whats the average lifespan on one of these drainpumps? I replaced mine and then only a few months later started getting OE again. I did a thoughough clean of all the pipes but i think the drain pump is failing again 😩
Hi depends on how often you wash but should last about 2 years or more. Make sure you’re buying genuine Oem replacement.so many substandard ones out there
Is it the same for a top loader
Haven’t had much experience with top loaders sorry
My machine doesn't have the lower right corner opening for the filter.
Hello and thank you for the video! I have a model LG- WM3997H, Do you know what pump I need? I did a search on eBay for that model and I am not finding anything. I appreciate any help.
I would say maybe remove the one on your washer first and try to match it up by typing in the product code on ebay or online
I'm not a pro but one thing I learned from fixing fridges freezers game systems and televisions is its all the same. Different items same organs just gotta know what "organ" needs changing
Can this OE error also cause the washer not to go into spin because someone in my Facebook group states that they have an OE error for the drain but they're also stating that the machine will not go into spin
Yes it won’t spin if it’s not draining
