I watched this video until the end for curiosity since he was doing a self test on the front loader, and I will tell you it was a very good video, no BS loud music people blend in their videos, good instructions step by step, to the point and effective in delivering the message, I felt I did not waste my time.
So true! This video has been my "golden" go to video! I have been my own "mom the builder" 😁🥰
Mine started to work after going step by step with him. Thank you

I have P5 error,I know nothing about this error code, can you help me?thank you
Years later…..Your video is a great help! Easy to follow and descriptive. I was able to figure out what was wrong with my LG washer/dryer combo with your video. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge!
Been bouncing around the internet all night trying to diagnose a problem. Was about to order a new machine altogether. Found your video and am so thrilled. Will be ordering a new drain pump thanks to your wonderful video. Thank you so very much!
Thank you very much for this video-aid! Your instructions helped to clear the dE error and get our washer back to "normal".
This is one of the best videos I have seen that gave me information on doing a problem assessment for this washer. I am glad I found this and will continue to monitor this channel. Thanks again for this excellent information.
Absolutely fantastic video presentation and explanation, especially for the meaning of any codes in display screen. I only wish I had come upon this self diagnostic test earlier before spending about $75 dollars on a drain pump and cold water inlet valve. Unfortunately my main power board went.
Thank you. Your test tip saved alot of time. I had no idea that could be done.👍
I am SO appreciative of this video!!! My machine packed a sad on me and I was panicking!!! This worked!!!! It took me a hot minute to figure which was my "soil" button as it is different but I got there!!! Thankyou. Thankyou!!!!
I want to say Thank You! Your video help me diagnose a bad pressure switch. Once again Thank you!
Test sequence:
1 Tumble clockwise
2 Low speed spin
3 High speed spin
4 Pre-wash inlet valve
5 Main wash inlet valve
6 Hot water inlet valve
7 Bleach/spray rinse valve
8 Tumble counter-clockwise
9 3-second heater, thermistor check
10 Recirculation pump test
11 Drain pump test
12 Exit test, off
FYI if step 10 dose not happen and goes to step 11, means the machine dose not have a Recirculation pump. Would of been nice if the store where I purchased would of informed me.
in step 3 i get loud noise and squeals and the rpm drops down but no error code can you please explain
Awesome pace, explanation and great video quality. Thanks for the upload guys.
Thank you so much. I had a tech come out and look at it a few weeks ago and nothing. I came across your video trying to see if I could run the diagnostic they did and it worked! Now I can tell them exactly what's going on.
Extremely helpful, useful, and informative. Thanks a lot.
You just saved us so much money. You are an Angle! We love you! Thank you!
i wonder if he's an obtuse angle or an acute. Perhaps a right angle.
@@Kenpachi69420 idiot you know what he meant..🤣

Just fixed my washer thanks to this video. Thank you so much.
Thank you very much! Often when there are issues with appliances, I’m stuck wondering where to start. This is a great place to begin.
Thanks to your video, I was able to change my drain pump for $33. There were a few differences, but nothing I could not work through easily. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Is that instruction in this video? I may have to replace my drain pump.
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!! WORKED EXACTALLY LIKE YOU SAID!!!👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you!!! great voice. Good pace. You did wonderful.
You do a great job making these videos. Very informative and concise. Thank you.
Notes in case some runs into the same problems with the test as I did.
If you washer has water in it and won't drain. The washer will not spin during the spin test. You have to drain it first. Also it's a pretty good indication it's the pump
Thanks for the video. I was able to identify the problem fairly quickly
I found same problem, it was the pump
Hello, when you did the diagnostics, did the machine shut off at step 10? Mine is turns off at step 10, which is the recirculating pump but when I search for recirculating pump for my model ( MODEL:WM3170CW ) it does not have that part. So does it mean it’s just the drain pump?
@@mowax89 I don't remember off hand how many steps there were. If you don't have a circulation pump, then you won't have that step
I just want to thank you for helping with my LG washer, the problem is fix, I Appreciate it very much.. God bless
Totally helpful after repairing a scrubbing rotor. Thanks.
Excellent video. Thanks for taking the time to do that.
Great video. Very clear and at the right speed so I could follow and write down the information for each step. Thanks.
Great video - concise and professional. thanks!
Thank you! i have the same model and worked as expected.
I love the LG 14 kg washing machine! Good, you're testing!
Thank you! Watched your video, ordered off your link and installed. Definitely saved myself $300 at least. My model has a few more features so my pump assembly had a couple more hoses and was held down by 3 bolts, no clip. Other than that the hardest part was the ring that held in the rubber gasket.
Thank you, sir, it's working once again. :-) Excellent instructional video.
My washer was noisy at times. For me it ended up being the recirculation valve. I was able to isolate using your instructions. Thank you.
Thank you. It's a big help.
Thank you for making this video!!!! Very helpful.
Very good test run. Thank you.
Incredibly helpful. Thank you.
Thank you for this post. You have helped me out!
Thank you very much for this video. Because of this, I discovered that my issue was with the circulating pump. That was what was making the noise. Saved me a ton of aggravation and money.
It is happening to my lg , a noise and it doesn't pump out the water. what did you do to solve the problem?
@@manuelbuizatarrida5953 hi. My issue was to change out the recirculation pump which I did. I am not sure if that is the same pump that also empties the tub or not. I want to say it is a different pump that empties the tub.
@@ErolEskinazi THANK YOU VERY MUCH,
@@ErolEskinazi I think mine must be the same pump for circulation and to empty the tub. Mine makes noise on test 2,3, and 10. Mine only had 10 test not 11.
For those who run into this issue. The spin test will not work if you have water in the machine. You have to drain it first.
Thanks for this video. I found this video very informative.
Very detailed. A huge thank you
Awesome video, helped me because I was able to follow along step by step with you. 💯
Thanks very much for posting this!
Thank you for the walk through.
Thank you for this concise video!
Thank you! You saved my life!!
OUSTANDING!!! Thank you brother. Water inlet valve inoperable in my trusty LG. I've subscribed!
Great presentation. Thanks. Rob
Great video.
255 is a binary digital scaled computing value.
It represents the maximum value out of 256 values that can be represented with 8 bits (0 - 255). 255 would be completely empty, 128 would be half-filled, and 0 would be completely full.
192 would be quarter-filled
I just wanted to stop back with an update. I replaced the drain pump and my LG front load washer is running great again thanks to this video.
Was your washer not draining? Ours does a spin cycle endlessly. Sometimes the time reads 6 minutes and 20 minutes later it is still spinning.
@@postprod09 Hi. Yea suddenly our washer would not drain. After replacing the pump it worked great. Was really an easy job when you take your time. Have a great day.
@@EdwardWallaceTechTalk Oh ours is draining, it just gets stuck on the spin/rinse cycle FOREVER. Not sure if this is a drain pump problem.
Ours was not draining so never went into so in cycle.
@postprod09 mine gets stuck on the spin/rinse part of the wash. it usually happens when the machine is fully loaded with clothes. sometimes it takes so long it just gives up and shuts off. it also will occasionally leak water from underneath (which is driving me crazy! 😡). I’m considering just changing the pump myself in hopes of solving the issue. did you happen to diagnose and solve your problem?
Thank you for posting this video. It helped me to use the test mode to isolate the drain pump.
Hello there, can you help me out here and walk me through the process?. I think my problem is the draining pump too since I saw lots of standing water in the last wash.
First was my car, then the lawn mower, now the washer, all in the space of four days. Did you call someone or did you do the work yourself?
I'm within four days of my kids graduation and going crazy here, if I could afford it I would just go buy a new one and save me the headache, anyway, I would really appreciate the help.
Please put the list of cycles and tests in the description, so we can just look and check our machines. Very helpful!!
EMPTY and closed door - lights on the machine off
Press SPIN and SOIL together, then power button
START button cycles through the tests
1st press - Tumble clockwise
2nd- Low speed @600 RPM
3rd - High spin @1100-1150 RPM
4th - Prewash Inlet valve
5th - Main wash inlet valve
6th - Hot water inlet valve test
7th - Bleach/spray rinse valve
8th - Tumble counter clockwise
9th - 3 Sec heater, thermister check - only turns the heater on for 3 seconds
10th - Recirculation pump test - side jets on the door area
11th - Drain pump test - can just look at it to see if it's draining
12th - turns machine back OFF
I screen shot this comment, printed it out and put it with the manual lol
Your now on file.
Thank you so much , great video
Great video and great info, thank you!
Many, many thanks! Our WM3270CW somehow was locked up, with the pause button flashing and the selector knob illuminating all choices. Ran the diagnosis and it reset to working as usual.
Thanks great video I followed the video and it helped along with cleaning the filter
Awesome. Used this to verify functionality!
Thanks so much. It worked exactly like you said. Even a most simpleton of simpletons could follow those directions.
Thank you, it really helped.
This is not in the operation manual. Thank you showing that this can be done and how!
Excellent, clear, step-by-step video I'm so happy I found BEFORE I start taking my machine apart. In spin mode, my Lg inverter direct drive front end loader sounds like a wicked, noisy 747 with a slight clunking sound. Thought perhaps my kid or husband left bearings in their coat pockets and they launched in the machine's tumbler! Nope. I have removed the upper lid and motor panels, checked all tubing and the hydraulic arms attached to the tumbler for any obvious, visible issues. None. I will try a machine self test tomorrow....will see if the Lg washer is able to dx its own problem while in spin mode. Holy spin cycle speeds too! Thanks so much for this video and such a relief to not have someone "umming" and "ahhing" thru it all with unnecessary prose! Well done!
Thank you. Excellent video.
Great video. Thank You!
Omg thank you so much I didn’t know my washer could do this lol
Kilo’s Asmr me either!!! This is why I love RUclips!! Hahaha
Very helpful video. Thank you sir
Wow! Such an awesome video! I see that you've helped ppl in the comments below...so, I'm going to unload my problem on you and see if you might grace me with some of your wisdom. :)
My washer stopped draining. Being very, very poor but somewhat handy, I did a ton of online research and the most obvious answer seemed to be the drain pump. I ordered the part on Amazon, took the washer apart and...it wasn't the pump. I really need to get my washer working and finally decided to ask for an appliance recommendation on FB. One of the comments suggested it might be the timer...and I had an a-ha! moment. I remembered that the timer said '7 minutes left' for an hour+ before I realized anything was wrong. I figured it wasn't moving on to the spin cycle because it *couldn't* drain. But maybe the washer just isn't getting the "time to drain" message...? I actually had a really hard time getting the wash to end so I could even open the door. Does that sound like a timer issue to you? If you have any thoughts, ideas, suggestions or directions to point me I will love you forever. I'm out of clean clothes! :,(
Big help!
Thanks!
Brilliant many thanks for the video.
Thank you very helpful video much appreciate
Thank you awesome video.
thanks, this helped me!
Fantastic, thanks.
Thanks for your video, I agree with everyone that has responded. It is the best video out there
I was not able to get through all of the cycles. I did this test twice with the same results just to make sure.
The differance with your test and mine is when I started the test my screen displayed U37 and D72 any help is appriciated
Test sequence:
1 Tumble clockwise
2 Low speed spin
3 High speed spin
4 Pre-wash inlet valve
5 Main wash inlet valve
6 Hot water inlet valve
7 Bleach/spray rinse valve
8 Tumble counter-clockwise
9 3-second heater, thermistor check ( not sure this happened)
10 Recirculation pump test ( The washer shut off)
11 Drain pump test
12 Exit test, off
Same, after step 8, mine goes to 11, where it drains and then next button is shut off. Can't test the recirculation pump. Anyone have more information?
I have the 3070, I was about to pay someone 100 to run a diagnostic on it, cause it was loud in the spin cycle. Now we can do it ourselves and call the manufacture.
Bb
Bad rotor ?
Guy is a genius thanks
Thanks for this info.
Jeff
thanks so much very helpful
Great video, drain humming but not draining, no error code. not clogged at strainer basket. model WM4270HWA
my WT1101CW does the same thing
Very helpful.
Very good video thank you
This was helpful. Well done. I have a 2008 LG washer with a different display screen. However the 11 part diagnostic test is identical. I quickly determined that the prewash and main wash inlet valve test failed and resolved the problem. This diagnostic test is not in the LG ownwers manual.
martin xl how did you solve the valve problems?
Did you have to replace the inlet valve?
I’m curious as well!!
Me too
He must be dead. 🪦
My timer was stuck at five minutes. Did the diagnostic sequence and it ran normally afterwards. Thank you.
Thank you Thank you great video
THANK YOU!!!!!!
Thank you this was very helpful. However I went through all steps. I received no error cods, but the last one I believe step 9 or 10, drum spun but water was coming out from bottom of washer, I'm guessing a seal needs replaced. But what concerns me, is it was humming like it wasn't going into the next phase. Keep in mind, it filled, and the drum was spinning when we got to that step. Basically my problem is this, Washer stops at the spin cycle.
i believe your problem my be the drain pump.
I’m sorry I mean your recirculating pumps.
Many many thanks
Thx for the great info!! Is there a way of testing the fabric softener water feed? Mine does not empty and all holes and tray are clean. thinking water isn't going into the dispenser when required. Thx again
Absolutely very useful. do you have a video on how to activate /deactivate the Turbo Wash on a front load LG 4500 HB
Thanks!
Really interesting! I’m getting the FE error and this test didn’t throw any codes but I enjoyed doing it anyway.
Thank you.
This video is awesome. Unfortunately my LG washer isn't. My second time watching this video and my 4th repair in 10 months
Hi I know this video is old. But until 2021 it has become very handy to us. Do you have another video explaining what happened (need to fix) when the number don't move when you adding water and the spinning cycle?
Thank you sir
Thanks buddy
Thank you for this video. Is there a sequence to use to fill the tub with more water on this model?
Very helpful video .. its a pitty mine is an earlier WD1049c ... controls in different locations but Im sure it has a diagnostic mode similar, just founf no info sofar ...
Hi Eugene, LG front loaders have so many movements. Would you be able to show a Handwash Cycle?
Thank you
I dig your Videos. Do the WM3400CW have a recirculation pump. When I do a self test I hear a motor but no water is spraying threw the Jets. No error codes or problems with Washer though.👍🏾
Thank you for helping me confirm that it is my drain pump. Very informative video. Now can anyone tell me the best place to buy a drain pump?
