So it was the tint without binders, you do not need the full paint mix as the raptor will bond with the tint alone, I went to an automotive paint place called "finishmasters" and asked them for the jeeps paint code tint only with no binders.
BC Bell as a jku owner I follow a lot of jeeps on RUclips and you my friend have the most civilized comment I have read by far. You didn’t criticize or give suggestions. Not even a “why didn’t you...”. Kudos man
How many bottles did it take to do your 2 door? I'm prepping to do my 2 door JK soon and don't wanna pay for a ton of extra materials. I'm assuming I wouldn't need the full 8 bottles the 4door in the video needed?
That's awesome. I would love to do that when I get a jeep. I would totally do the grill in a black because it would match the fenders more than the gloss would. That's just my opinion though.
I know this is already 3yrs old but I feel as if the front grill should have raptor sprayed on it but black. Keeping that texture on everything makes it 110% better.
So I did not have black tint available, the raptor black I had seen but it faded and did not look good. I agree I thought about the gloss black textured but the gloss broke it up a bit!
1: I think you should line a grill in black. Take away that gloss bit still have the contrast. 2: How does it clean up? Assuming you off-road it atleast a little, how does the mud and such come off? Is it hard to get it totally clean or does a low power pressure wash do the trick? Very interested as I'm thinking of doing it to my TJ.
I debated the black grill but ended up keeping the tank colored grill. To clean is easy just power wash or spray with degreaser and power wash worst case use a soft bristle boat brush.
James Smedley so raptor offers a few colors but what I did was buy their tintable version and go to a automotive paint supply shop and order your paint code
I love the liner on the Jeep not does it only look great it's very functional for protection. Also keep the angry grill on the black does break it up very well. Awesome!!!
Hey, Great Vid. I am about to raptorline my Truck. I have been sitting on the idea for a good while and the time has come to finally do it. Few questions. I don't think you mentioned how many bottles it took you for this application? How much tint was required? Did you do one or two coats? How has it held up over the year? If you had to do it again is there anything you would have done different? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks again!!
Looks great! I’ll be doing this to mine in a couple of weeks. How much of the liner did you end up using and how many coats did you do? I only got an 8 liter kit. I think I might need more.
@@TMogo116 Hi - Great video. Thank you for making it. Couple questions - have you had any adhesion issues using 4 coats? I'd also like more coats for durability, but the manufacture says no more than 2 coats due to chemical build up between coats. Whats your thought on that? Also, I'm sure I missed it somewhere, but what PSI did you use? I really like that texture. Thank you!
I thought you were making a mistake at first because the paint on the Jeep looked good. But when you finished it it looked amazing. Very good job looks extremely good and different. I love it.
Hey man, amazing Jeep!!! I am about to do the same soon, I have a question, where did you get the tint. I want to do a light grey but I want to make sure I used the correct tint, also how much tint do you put per can?? Thank you and keep up the vids!!
Came out nice, thinking of doing mine but in black, I noticed you have fender liners on, do you hear a rattle or does it make noise when you go over medium to hard bumps?
One question, after I first say GREAT job, it looks ridiculously good man! I see you sprayed directly onto the door hinges, did it affect their motion at all, chip at all during their first movements after spraying? Getting ready to spray my 94 bronco and am wondering how to go about the tire swing. Congrats again, terrific outcome!
coming up on 4 years of no garage outdoor keeping, has not faded or cracked or come off I still keep in touch with the new owner and see pics of it regularly!
when offroading usually you scratch up the paint on the jeep, down here in florida it is common for clear coats to bubble and peels the sun just cooks everything here, the raptor is much tougher and sprays on thick to withstand the scratches.
absolutely fantastic! I've been looking at line-x for my off road gmc but the shops want $10 k to start. Can you get a smoother finish? I'd rather not have such an aggressive texture.

Did you have any problem putting the tail lights back on due to thickness of the Raptor? Did I notice you removed the windshield hinge cover bolts, why?

haha not a zombie so the trick is the very last coat you do a fluff coat so you stand back maybe 5 feet and light dust everything, the raptor has kind of a self leveling effect and you just fluff the whole thing and it will look flawless.
Can anyone comment on the longterm durability of Raptor finish on a vehicle. 3,5 or more years down the road. Also is there a recommended topcoat (clearcoat?) that will enhance durability and appearance. Thanks. Great video.

I have watched several raptor liner installs and hands down yours came out the best.
Quick question about the liner. Did you just use auto paint for the tint? What is the appropriate mixture ratio
I used automotive paint tint, I bought it from a auto paint supply store, I used 75ml of tint in each bottle of raptor.
Where did you buy the custom color tint? Raptor only has like 15 colors. Is it just from an automotive paint store to make your own?
This was from an automotive paint supplier called finish masters.
Paint tint? The PJK tiny, is that made by raptor liner? Or can you use any tint brand?
2k acrylic paint, or any urethane or acrylic paint tint can be used
That came out really good
