    In the jeep groups, this is really not a great idea, they say it decreases the value. But I ask, what does all the pin striping on my doors and fender do for the value. I feel like this is well worth it! I don't do anything serious as offroading goes but I love to travel down the less traveled paths in the national forests. You know the drill, scratch after scratch. I think even one branch put a crease down my passenger side, from antenna to quarter glass. Not cool. I really need to do this. Awesome job and in my mind, this looks amazing!

      Thanks Jerry! Just take your time on the prep and it goes on nice. I have not been gentle with mine as far as branches and stuff on the trails and it looks brand new after a hose down. I’ve never used the fluid film but I know it was very popular with the ‘yota guys when I had my tacomas.

    I have plastic fenders and bumpers on my 2013 Wrangler. Is it possible for me to do just those with that textured paint? Is there any that possibly looks MORE textured? I kind like the clumpy look.

    • @darkfader914
      @darkfader914  Год назад +1

      Yes you can definitely make it a rougher texture. You would want to vary your air pressure and distance from the surface to dial in the texture you prefer. I would practice on a piece of plywood or cardboard until you have the look you desire.

    Looks great man. I’m prepping my Jk for bedliner right now, went with monstaliner, any last minute tips or lessons learned?

    • @darkfader914
      @darkfader914  2 года назад

      If the monstaliner has tech data sheets, study them closely. Do everything the manufacturers recommend. Pay attention to how your gun is functioning, it can clog with hardening material between coats so you may want to soak it in acetone or whatever thinner that monstaliner recommends. This type of job is 95% prep, so the more care and time you put in on the prep, the better the actual spray will turn out.

  • @oldmangaming8335
    @oldmangaming8335 Год назад +1

    I heard you say 3 coats but how many cans of raptor liner did it take to do each coat?

    • @darkfader914
      @darkfader914  Год назад

      It was 7 quarts total. The last coat is a dusting coat at a higher psi with the spray gun further from the work piece so the last coat was only one bottle to complete. So it was right at 3 quarts per coat for the first two coats.

    Great Job, trying to decide to do my 2002- F250, few body shops said not to do it. Wondering how it will hold up? I have clear coat issues, damage for a few hurricanes, and a recall tire blow out. BTW what do you prefer Pumper, Ladder, Rescue? I'll take the Ladder. Stay Safe.🚒

    • @darkfader914
      @darkfader914  Год назад +1

      I ride officer seat in a pumper for the foreseeable future. Love it!
      I wonder why body shops advised against it. I guess I’m only at about 6 months with this on the jeep, but we’ve been on trails that would’ve done serious damage to a factory paint job and there’s not a mark on mine at this point. If you have clear coat issues, proper prep would scuff that all down and provide good mechanical bond for the Raptor.

    • @bayouslots3143
      @bayouslots3143 Год назад +2

      @bayouslots3143 I’m getting ready to do my 2002 F-250 as well, how did yours turn out? And yeah, the body shops probably don’t like the competition, lol. I’ve actually got a lot of prep to do, the rear fenders are rusted pretty bad as well as some on the rocker panels.

    • @darkfader914
      @darkfader914  Год назад +6

      No fading, the raptor liner is UV resistant, so it looks just as good as it did new so far. I did get a few chips on the underside of my fender flares, but they are plastic and it was very difficult to get all the mold release off of them, plus that area is subject to the harshest environment. Overall, I still highly recommend!
