- We’re back with yet another instalment of the ‘Dog Grooming & Handling Equipment Series’! This time, our featured equipment is perhaps one of the most important because every dog needs it - shampoos!
In today’s tutorial, Allison teaches you why you might reach for one type of shampoo over another for your dog - depending on their breed, coat issues, styling needs, and more. You will see one of Allison’s favourite products, Clean Start, and other shampoos and treatments by Chris Christensen, Nature’s Specialties and more.
If you want to put those shampoos to use, check out “Success Starts in the BATH” at Leading Edge Dog Show Academy. www.leadingedg...
I’ve heard wonderful things about the Chris Christiansen shampoos and conditioners from pet groomers on you tube channels who are based in Central Europe. I’m a new pet groomer and will try these products.
I had two of my dogs groomed two weeks ago and their coat is very dry. When I mentioned that to my groomer while there with two other dogs, she told me told me that oatmeal based shampoos are drying. She's using an aloe based shampoo. She switched salons and is a one groomer operation now. I have used panel oatmeal shampoos at home without the drying effect but am not currently in a place to do that. Has the grooming industry changed thoughts on oatmeal products in shampoos and conditioners?
Thanks for the video. Always good to watch and learn when I have a moment. ❤
I always wondered about applying shampoos together. Of course when washing a dog I start off with a cleansing shampoo and end with a conditioner separately. But is it possible to mix for example a volume shampoo with a color enhancing shampoo so that they can be applied to the coat together? (If it is the same brand and dilution rate) So it won‘t take hours just to wash the dog because of all the different shampoos I use😅 Thank you for the help
I have a matted anxious sheepadoodle (on chest and a couple legs). Mostly black with some white.
Can you share what you would choose from start to finish? He’s super sensitive to brushing so I would like to do as much as I can to reduce pulling on any mats.
Please make a full show grooming video on golden retriever
We have one! www.leadingedgedogshowacademy.com/p/golden-grooming-101
I have a Borzoi what type of shampoo do you recommend?
Picking up our poodle in about 2 weeks. He is a cream/ apricot. I just want to know what is the best shampoo and conditioner to start him out at since he is still just a baby. He's not even 8 weeks yet and Chris Christensen just has so many to choose from. What's the best way to start out?
I start with "Happy Eyes" (or "Fresh Faced") tearless shampoo with my puppies - you can use it on the whole body!
Would love to see a video about products and techniques to use to keep a beard white! I struggle with this!
We'll add that to our RUclips queue - in the meantime check out our course "Enhancing & Correcting Coat Colour 2.0" - www.leadingedgedogshowacademy.com/p/coat-colour2
My Maltese tear stains get on her body …best way to clean?
Bought ChriscC Diamond Moisture shampoo conditioner and miracle cream. I added on Precious Drops. Shih tzus coat is cottony full and dr. Precious Drops i dont seem to like mixed with miracle cream.
Mix with warm water!
I've been mixing Warm water with Miracle Cream for brushing spray. CC said not to use Precious Drops and Miracle C ream. If I could send you pictures of what the groomer did to her face I'm so mad. She lied and never groomed shih tzus only shaved
What about wiry coat
Hi Alison this is Angela Sharon’s mom I would like to know more about bottoms up as I have Bichons thanks
It's a great choice for Bichons! What would you like to know?
Color treatment. My 18 mo shih tzu has faded. White ... champagne cold... ears darker with black tips.. but body would like champagne and gold to be darker like she was. Will it affect white paws .. and rest if her.
Fading is common in many dog breeds, including shih tzu's, it's caused by a specific gene and it can't be reversed. My dog is sable in color and has faded significantly since she was a puppy, I find myself missing her dark coloration sometimes.
@@The_angry_owl_99 me too. Her coloring was tri color dark red and white face is still beautiful markings ear tips are still black. But the body color went more champagne apricot. She's still beautiful buy i do miss orig color. Can you imagine how many people pick out puppies then get something diff a year later
@@The_angry_owl_99 mixing Diamond Moisture Shampoo Conditioner And Miracle Cream ... made a mistake spraying her yesterday and today with Precious Drops brushed with pin brush and then applied Miracle Cream.
@@The_angry_owl_99 Wish you would use an imperial shih tzu full coat that is cottony and dry
@@lindafriedman4148 I think breeders should be more upfront with people that it's a possibility especially if they know one or both of the parents has the fading gene.
Do one on conditioners
Already filmed - check back in 2 weeks!
I need to see shampoo conditioner for a full coat 6 lb shihtzu. I have the Just Divine daily brush.. I need to try more daily grooming. Her coat is double.. dry needs much more moisture.. finishing spray anti static... conditioner. Its getting very overwhelming with so many products
I’m not a groomer….just curious how you keep a shampoo on a dog for 5 Minutes ……then rinse ….then use conditioner…..tell me your secret!
Keep them in the tub! Stay with them so they are safe and secure, make sure it is not too cold in the room.
Funny. I have kept treatment on my dig for up to 10 min. My dig is in a counter height bath and I massage the shampoo in gently over every body part. My dig loves the bath. Shampoo and conditioning.
