It’s brilliant amp! I use mine with a 2x10 Dr Z cab with greenbacks. If you jump the 2 channels you can get great cleans with some hair but if you use the bright channel, you have to crank it to bypass the bright cap and that will give you that glorious plexi tone we all love. You will need an attenuator to knock it down a bit if your playing at home. .
Hi, your vid made me but this amp !! I'm playing it through celestion 20 watt greenbacks, are you running an attenuator? , this is way loud , want it to sound like what your getting in the the vid, sounds amazing! If you have time for feedback Id appreciate it , thank You !
They’re definitely loud for 20 watts. I was using it with a 1x12 cab so that helped but still is loud really no way around it unless you use an attenuator or put something in the loop.
Someday maybe will have an amp like that. Sounds incredible! I have a JTM 60 that sounds really good through a single Creamback but don't sound as good as that
It is the best because everyone is using in ear monitors now aside of those who can't afford them and old school big acts. Low stage volume is a real thing these days.
I've been looking hard and long at one of these. I'm in a couple bands, one with a heavy-handed drummer - do you have any issues with volume?? The venues I'm playing at are quite small (mostly all bar gigs). I see so much back and forth online, some people saying it's either WAY too loud or not loud enough to cut a mix. For reference, we play grunge and I'd be running into an open-back 2x12 Orange PPC212-V with neo-creambacks. Much appreciated, and killer playing!
Awesome and great sound..nice review..you did a good job..BTW, enough gain you think for a variety of spectrums of any music djenres, especially metal?
They sound fuller after powering up for 10 minutes and when new ,the amp and speakers come alive after couple of months rockin'.and it gets better and better!the 212 cab is a BIGGER sound by far.also more expressive than the small open back cab or combo for lead playing.but they're ALL good sounds for new model amps,.hard to beat .❤
I bought this amp brandnew. I tried to like it and did like it. I went off reviews of this amp and bought one. Got rid of it quickly. I think it sounds like crap, but that's my opinion. Since then i acquired a 1973 Super Bass and a 1977 JMP mkll 50 watt. Now i have achieved Marshall nirvana!
True about the older, larger ones. But you paid a lot more too. Marshall has now lowered the US price for the Studio 20's to $1,300. And if you mod them they sound wicked.
@@jordanpratt3821 It sounded to brittle or bright to me no matter where I set the controls and I never could get that good thump or punch out of it like I can with the larger amps that run on EL34's or 6L6's. I really tried to like it but it just wasn't happening for me.
Thanks so much! I forget exactly where I had the amp setup most likely around noon on each control. I normally put the darker channel (normal) on 2-3 and turn the bright channel up to 5-6
I have one of these, I am running it through the 2x12 Cab that is used with the SC20H. I originally purchased the SC20H, but ended up getting rid of it to get this amp. There are times that I miss the SC20H over this amp. I feel like the gain is lacking at certain times, with that being said. Are the settings you on the amp in the beginning of the vid the same as those when you are playing? Also, are you running straight into the amp or are you running into an OD pedal? I'm digging the gain and tone you are getting, and would like to have a starting point to dial mine in more like this.
Omg your tone sounds absolutely amazing. You've manage to get THE sound! I have this amp head coming in a few days but only have a cab with a single g12m-65 creamback in it, wondering if I could squeeze out similar tones? Great vid!
Thank you so much buddy! A creamback would be cool! Great speaker, a greenback would be preferable but even in this video I was using a vintage 30 and it still sounded good. Can’t go wrong with a plexi!
Wow! Really digging the warmth you get with it. I’ve been trying to achieve this, but you do it better. I cant see the settings though, is it set as in the intro? With no attenuation? 😮 Great playing as well 👍🤘
That's quite bold and rock'n'roll if you do that at home, too. What do your ears feel about that and do you know what the volume in the room is? Awesome playing and tone btw 👏
Sounds great,But so many people say you need an attenuator to get a reasonable volume...how loud was the amp in the room in this video??? what are your thoughts thanks!
Oh you need an attenuator for sure. Unless you live out in the middle of no where or something, but if volume is a concern then........actually I have a 5 watt Marshall that attenuates down to one watt and it's still damn loud.
These are great little amps. I like to jump the channels and put all controls at noon for a Classic Rock sound. For cleaner stuff, I will back the high treble and presence down to 9:00. I always play it through a load box because it is insanely loud for a 20w amp.
@@justinmeyersguitarist so far playing and learning journey has been positive. Just that I think I’m ready to purchase stuff needed to get that tone. So the SV or ST you think? TIA
I LOVE mine. I fitted it with a complete new set of Mullards (back before the tube and Russia thing went crazy), and the cab has two 55hz greenbacks and dude.. EPIC

I wired my 50w plexi with a triode mode switch that does the same thing.
Hi Justin! Not a Marshall guy myself , but glad you found something that suits you, that's what matters! Take care!
Awesome amp rocking this thing with a 2x12 greenbacks classic tones the vintage 30 you manage to make it sound warmer then most
Thank you so much!
Sounds Page glorious bro...
thanks so much!
Yeah, it's great, but the 1987x is a bit better, and the 1959HW is better still. You get what you pay for. And you lug it around too.😁

I have this amp with the matching 2x12 cab, and it sounds fantastic. However, for practicing at the house I use an attenuator.
Very cool!
At low volume I just plug into the channel 2. And pedals sounds glorious. I tried, jumping. It can’t stand the treble channel
You need to jump them and dime it. I use a tone king iron man II.
Best demo of this amp I’ve ever heard 👍
Thank you so much buddy
Wow that sounds a lot like Jimmy page when you play single notes
Thank you! Jimmy page is a huge influence on my playing!
Sick chops n tone dude
Thank you so much!
Sounds 🤟🏼😄

Very toneful and juicey! Loved it! ❤

Thanks for the demo man!! LOve your playing style.
Thank you so much!!
I googled eragasm, and this video showed up.
haha! thanks so much!!
I've run Marshall, Mesa, EVH, Fender....you name it live. This little amp is my go to now. It's still really, really loud! Lol..
Very cool!
Great tone but to boxy.

Plenty loud for bar gigs. Throw a mic on the cab if it’s not enough! Thanks so much buddy!
Great playing. Great demo....i just feel your little finger wants to join the party, but is only allowed to play at certain times.
Haha!! Thanks for watching!
Awesome and great sound..nice review..you did a good job..BTW, enough gain
you think for a variety of spectrums of any music djenres, especially metal?
Thank you buddy! I wouldn’t use a Plexi for metal just in my opinion. For metal I’d go 5150 or Diezel VH4.

Every amp I have owned sounded stiff at first.
Dude, these things have so much gain on tap. I had no idea. It’d be pretty loud in the room tho, no?
Yeah for sure they break up really quickly especially on the 5w mode. It’s a Plexi so it’s somewhat loud but manageable for sure.

Sounds amazing! The fact that it's only 850€ is amazing. Great amp for cheap! Have you tried the SC20H as well?
Thank you buddy! I haven’t tried that!
these are 1750 usd - or 1375 pounds - so not cheap here!
@@edwardgrassel872 Sorry to hear that. You have great alternatives though that are way overpriced in Europe. Friedman for instance.
They are on sale for $1299 at the moment. Still not cheap but not quite as outrageous.
Would this head be loud enough to play in a hard rock band? [Loud drummer] I'm thinking of pairing it with a 4 x 12 with V30s
Yes definitely
