The rectangular Marshall badge is nicknamed the 'coffin' badge, with those 'pillar' (per Pete) at either end being the handles. I love the amp through the 2x12 (Mick Taylor used a vertical 2x12 w/50 watt and a Fender combo atop that in the Bluesbreakers). I also love that this demo was about dynamics and sound, not volume and effect. One gets tired of demos where it's all about driving the amp and ripping out hi-gain riffs. Clarifying that this amp isn't designed for that (without a pedal) and then proceeding to demonstrate its versatility to an audience assuming the worst kept this demo engaging. My only critique would be the absence of any Bluesbreakers riffs. It was after all Eric Clapton's playing on the 'John Mayall with Eric Clapton - Blues Breakers' (aka 'Beano') album that defined the sound of the JTM45 and led to Hendrix and everyone else plugging in to Marshall, including those who followed in his wake, Peter Green and 18-year-old Mick Taylor. Indeed, were it not for Clapton's introduction of a Les Paul and Marshall, the Studio 20 and this demo would likely not exist.
I come back to this video every now and then to try and find a justification to get one. I really want one! I have a Fender Bassman as my primary amp and I know about the similarities (and differences) between these Marshalls and that amp, but I so want a reason to splurge on the head and cab.
Loving the intro and reading a few comments... People are loving this! I expected the usual price-point complaints! An excellent product, reasonably priced, how refreshing!
I can complain about it if you want. They’re 999 pounds or so in the UK so I was hoping maybe 1500USD in the states. They’re essentially 2k. Wah. It’s so unfair. These companies are just gouging us. Everything I want should be free. Etc. etc.
These Marshalls (along with the Friedman Little Sister and Pink Taco) make it clear to me once again how far modelers are from an aesthetically pleasing amp sound. You don't need a hundred thousand different sounds, but just one that has recognition value without any compromise. These marshals have both. Great! With musical greetings Mic from Germany 🙂
I have a solid-state amp I literally bought at 15 yrs old- sill works like its brand new- Peavey red line Studio Pro. Since then- I'm in my fifties now- I've bought like 3-4 tube amps- they all tore up- every last one. They costed like 4-5 times as much as the Peavey- sounded way better- and lasted a fraction as long. So- when the last one tore up- Blackstar Club 40- I bought a modeler- Headrush MX5. I'm trying to like it- it's not easy, but I'm trying. There are like 3 presets on it worth using- so every time I get disappointed in it- which I admit is pretty often- I dial one of them up. I thought they had gotten the distortion thing right finally- that's what everyone kept telling me- nope. All I know to tell you guys who think the distortion on these modelers sounds right is- you must not have ever had a good tube amp and the right pedal. Because trust me- it beats this modeler hands down without any doubt. Now that said- I haven't run the firmware update yet, I haven't added any 3rd party IRs so- maybe it will get better- I certainly hope. I haven't even gotten into creating my own patches yet- and they say that makes a big difference. I will say this though- once you buy your FRFR powered speaker- I got the 12" Headrush- now you can buy other modelers without it being such a cash layout. The FRFR speaker and amp costs as much or more than any modeler unit- and you already have that. So- if the HR doesn't eventually work out- I'll try something else. I can't afford to keep laying out 500+ a pop for amps that tear up in a couple years, at most.
Leo Fender and Jim Marshall got it right by listening to players. Leo didn't play but he recognized the potential sales to musicians and designed around their requests. Jim Marshall followed right along, and we ended up with fantastic amps on both sides of the pond.
So I just got the Friedman Little Sister( very much inspired from your video of it😊). So you should shoot the JTM and LS out! Pretty please with sugar on top 🙏
I was keen to save up for the Friedman Little Sister, but here in Aus the Marshall JTM is almost half the price of the Friedman. The Friedman is likely much better built, but I'd love to hear a shootout
@@waynedoherty6572 Not necessarily so. Keep in mind that Dave Friedman himself says that PCB amps are superior in almost every way and that their Runt series (PCB based) is one of the least problematic amps they have (least amount of support/issues). The Little Sister undoubtedly gives you more flexibility though.
i have 4 systems that I absolutely love...(1) Fractal AX8 through a 600 watt Seymour Duncan power amp, (2) 68 blackline Bandmaster, (3) A mid 90's Blues deluxe RI (4) mid 90's Mojotone JTM45 all through WGS Veteran 30's

The Creamback M65s are definitely providing extra low end . The M65 especially in a closed back 2 by 12 have more low end than a typical vintage speaker like a G12M 25 watt Greenback . The Creamback M65 is a great speaker for those who Love the sound of vintage Greenbacks but find they don't have enough low end when used in a 1 by 12 or a 2 by 12 .The Greenback M25s need to be used in a 4 by 12 to get the classic Greenback M low end . As well unlike Lowerpower M speakers the Creamback M does not fart out or get to loose in the low end when used in an open back Combo or Cab.
I'd be very careful about setting up the Royer to be directly on axis right in front of your loudspeaker. When you're cranking it all the way up, the air coming off the cabinet can easily damage the ribbon.
does anybody really need me to say this is THE video to watch for this amp? No, I didn't think so. You guys killed it. Great job Anderton's! To think that my mom lived in Colchester for about 20 years and I don't even recall the amount of times I went to visit her there....this was in the late 80's......when did you guy spring up? I certainly do not recall a guitar store of this magnitude when I was visiting Colchester.....
I can't speak for the ST20, but I have a SV20 that I run pretty damn wide open when I gig. Smaller rooms, I have an attenuator, but I run the high around 7 or 8 and the low around 6 or 7, depending on the room. So there are some of us heathens out there.
They now have a 20 watt JTM a 20 watt super lead and 20 watt jubilee and 20 watt JCM 80 so they have covered all the most iconic Marshall's. So it's hard to see what else they could cover in the 20 watt range. The only other option i could see is a 20 watt JVM which I think is a great idea. The have a 20 watt DSL and origin so a 30 watt JVM is a logical choice. I would buy a 20 watt JVM in a heartbeat. The JVM cabs have great speakers as well. They have the G12 vintage/v30 and the Marshall heritage which is a Marshall spec G1265.
I love this! The JTM is my absolute dream amp, and I desperately want a real one. This one looks awesome, but at the price, I’m not entirely sure if this is better than a Friedman Little Sister. At least in the US, they are the same price, and I feel that the Friedman might be a little more useful for all types of music. But I absolutely love the delicious clean sound that JTM amps do. But at the same time, the cleans might be better in a full sized JTM with more headroom. I own a Bassbraker 45, and I feel that 45W is the perfect amount for clean tones at high volumes.
The Studio Silver Jubilee is still the best thing happened to this planet, I have an original 1987 Silver Jubilee, and the smaller Studio one sounds just as good as my original.
28:00 The difference for us RUclips watchers is most likely from the 2 dif mic combinations. A royer + 57 will def sound different compared to a SM7b + 57

You don't need a hundred thousand different sounds, but just one that has recognition value without any compromise. These marshals have both. Great!
With musical greetings
Mic from Germany 🙂
You guys are killing me. I JUST bought an amp yesterday, now this?!
Pete makes any amp sound great!
Another great video - love the enthusiasm and wow that amp is gorgeous !
That Song 2, 7 Nation Army mashup at the start was class.
i have 4 systems that I absolutely love...(1) Fractal AX8 through a 600 watt Seymour Duncan power amp, (2) 68 blackline Bandmaster, (3) A mid 90's Blues deluxe RI (4) mid 90's Mojotone JTM45 all through WGS Veteran 30's
I own the combo and am not blown away by it at all. But it's Pete's pick for this year so maybe I'll give it another try.
Loving the white blur intro
NOICE! I very recently got possession of a JTM 45 Limited Edition Offset #90 of 300 Reproduction w/ matching 4x12 built-in 2002… have yet to play through it... though that changes tonight! Can't wait!🤘🎸😎🐦
@pete the riff at 19:00 is like a summation of my entire style. Thanks for that truly ❤❤❤
you guys are a great way to wake up and your playing is fantastic 🎸🎸🎸
I've never been a Marshall guy, but these look and sound very appealing
I wish they would reissue a Hand Wired version of the JTM with this same look. Basically a ‘63 re-issue
So the next step in Marshall according to Pete is the JTM…love it
The Creamback M65s are definitely providing extra low end .
Oh my gosh. Those cabs look SOOOOO good
One thing I wish Marshall would have done is put a bias control on the back like PRS does.
What a killer intro tune mashup!!
I'd be very careful about setting up the Royer to be directly on axis right in front of your loudspeaker. When you're cranking it all the way up, the air coming off the cabinet can easily damage the ribbon.
I just sold my SV20 (great amp) to downsize, but am now tempted to get the JTM45 Studio
I did the same thing. Had the SV20 + 212 cab and sold them for the JTM Studio. It was worth it! Perfect clean tone + pedal platform!
does anybody really need me to say this is THE video to watch for this amp?
Best sounding amp miced up I’ve heard in years!
Great to finally see some new valve amps. When is the Orange or30 demo coming?
It is clear to see when a review embargo is lifted, everyone has a slightly different take in synchronicity.
The clean sound sounds incredible
i recently got the origin 20 head, about 4 months ago,,,and loving it,,,but this one does sound devine mm might have to upgrade one day ,,cheers all
Come on Pete is always excited he loves guitar gear 😊
Best amp I’ve ever owned. Amazing clean and dirty…
I’m usually a Fender amp fan, but this is so versatile, it does it all for me 😎 and I mainly use it at home. Not too loud
Guys an FYI on your DB meter - if it is reading 100 behind the amp, you can rest assured that it is closer to 105 pushing 110db.
