I'm Jamaican but from the old school. It's strange how so many of the younger generation are misinformed or just hopped onto what has recently been passed onto them without doing their own research. Partly because much of history is not taught in schools, there have been a lot of misinformation in regard to the music. Listening to Vintage Alternative on Bes' 100 Fm on Mondays from 8pm to 12pm with Roy Black from Jamaica will indeed help as he like other host there has vast concrete knowledge of the historical background of the music leading up to Reggae. For example, the talk about reggae not knowing its history from Ska how Ska has developed is problematic from many younger people chests beating not knowing the historical influences will be surprised that Ska like Reggae was also influenced and vice versa Afro Caribbean and Afro American (North, Central, South) beats all rooted from Motherland Africa (Africa).

It was mentioned that the equator goes right through Jamaica which is incorrect. The country of Ecuador in South America was named after the equator. Jamaica is a little over a thousand miles north of the equator, which puts us in the northern hemisphere!

Not sure I understand what's going on in this interview but as a fan of ACE videos and a Jamaican, let me replace some misrepresentations with some facts. Brother Pantonson said the equator gravitational pull causes our athletes to run as fast as they do, and that Jamaica sits on the equator. Those claims are not factual. These are the facts: 1) Gravitational pull is lowest or close to lowest at the North and South of the equator. Jamaica is located North of the equator and not on the equator. 2) Jamaica's closest neighbor Cuba sits 90 miles north with Hispanola (Haiti) positioned 120 miles to its east. All three islands are within the same range of distance to the equator, yet their athletes do not dominate the fields like the Jamaicans. 3) In the western hemisphere, Colombia, Panama, Ecuador, Venezuela, and Guyana are closest to the equator with Brazil sitting exactly on the equator line. 4) Central Africa including the Democratic Republic of the Congo lies precisely on the equator while its neighboring states such as Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Somalia also sit closer in comparison to Jamaica, yet again their athletes do not dominate the athletic games like the Jamaicans. 5) The JamFem keeps dominating the 100m, 200m, and relays in track and field worldwide. Our dominance has absolutely nothing to do with Jamaica's geographical position; but more so our determination, discipline, dedication, and capability to endure any presented pressure without giving up or giving in. We are NOT yam and dasheen we are JamFem also known as women! 6) Also, Caribbean Cement Co. does not build all the homes in the Caribbean. Please ACE, fix this video it is a misrepresentation of who we are and I know the brother means good but I don't appreciate fictitious claims especially when my children and friends are watching and were waiting for this video to drop.
