The label “what they don’t show you” is deliberately misleading. First, who is “they”. Second, African genetics vary greatly by region, and as a general rule Mexicans have - on average- only 2% to 4% African genetics. My family is from northern Mexico and my genetics revealed 1%. My genetics include 3% Jewish and 1% Scottish but I don’t consider myself either one of them. I’m 70 European, 29 % indigenous and yes 1% African. You’ll find most Mexicans are a mix of indigenous and European. The simple truth is most are not African.
"They" is Mexico Mainstream Media that reaches the world platform please tell Im wrong. We all shall the reaction of Namor the Black Panther character from Mexico's Main Street Media, not looking like the typical European Mexican so please tell me how you don't understand this? perhaps your not fimalar with the situation and commenting based on personal experiences this is why videos like this are important. please look over all the comments you can see several people who did not even know that black people existed in Mexico nor the black history Mexico have you can be mad all you want or throw statistical numbers to me it doesn't matter, videos like these are necessary to educate people. the title is appropriate
Detracting statement. It's not mainstream knowledge. Everytime I ask a South American including Mexican, they know nothing about the black communities in their countries. They always think I'm Cuban or Puerto Rican. This was a great eye opening video and many Mexican people are also saying they didn't know this history or where to find the current communities
This is beautiful!!! I saw a post years ago stating there were African origins in Mexico!! I appreciate you sharing this with us. We're definitely a diverse people. It's sad that everyone doesn't embrace or appreciate that fact!!! I love it!!!💛💛
As a black man born in the Caribbean raised in USA & France I get sad at the fact that us as blacks aren’t connected. We gotta come together. It’s a must
Can I ask you a question? Why are so many mexicans resistant to this knowledge? I've had this conversation at work before in an educational tone and I was looked at as though I had an eye in the middle of my forehead. Does it stem from what is perceived embarrassment to be associated with the african race? I'm pleading ignorance and anxiously awaiting your response.
Mom is California Chicana. Dad is Black American from North Carolina. Thanks for making this video. I’m even more proud of my heritage as a result. This is so cool!
Your mom's latino and your dad's African if he's living in the USA his ancestors were $l@ves along with most blk people in the America's or throughout the world
That's how yall got to these lands in the first place MAINLY ...only a small amount of African travelers came to the south America's in small numbers BEOFRE THE EUROPEANS

Everyone thought i was African American or Dominican but i’m mexican american no doubt my skins a little more melanated but i was always proud of my darker skin💯 shoutout to all my fellow afro mexicans 🇲🇽🇲🇽
Thank you for this! Everyone always thinks I’m puerto rican or Dominican. My Nana told me herself that my great great grandfather was African. They grew up in Mexico about 70 miles from Guerrero. I wish more people were aware that we exist
Wherever you are, you have loved by us, sister. One day as the scripture hath said, we shall be one people, one nation, one tongue indivisible again. I am right here, next to your border.
My grandpa was so black he didn't look like a dark Mexican ...no he looked like a African man ...I'm Mexican African ... proud of my black genes and my Mexican genes
The original Mexican where dark skin people the so called African Americans are the true indigenous Americans and they civilized Africa and the others!
My paternal grandpa said he was black Mexican and Navajo my entire life. He spoke fluent Spanish and was born near Red River - Paris Texas. He was very dark skin. His family was there for generations and reminded me it was Mexico for his great grandparents before the war. He also talked about tales of Red River War.
Us as black people may have to leave US. We Must Network Now. It's Some Bad News Brewing In the world. Waiting much longer may be to late! United Black. We can Blk Communities there and Build ... Network to unite...Is the only answer!
I love this video and yes we have Black humans people and that's great that have been there in Mexico forever and we love them they are part of us now ❤ and we are part of them ❤ we belonged together ❤ darker and lighter shade of Brown 😜
@Luper because when folks see white pride it’s seen as a bad thing, even when they say things that would indicate that they are proud to not be of white race. It’s hypocrisy, so I’m guessing the commenter was curious.
@luper1103idk what's there to be proud of ..they ain't in there orginal lands ...they cane from Africa and were used as $l@ves throughout there history here
Growing up, I had no idea that there were black Mexicans that had been there for almost as long as the indigenous Mexicans. I was so confused when my mom told me about a black priestess healing me in Mexico after multiple doctors said there was no hope and had discharged me from the hospital to die at home. My mom told me that a black lady saved me and I asked her where she had came from, my mom said she didn't know. Looking back, her ancestors had probably been in Mexico even long before my great great grandparents arrived from Spain, making her more Mexican than myself. African people are amazing. I wish people would stop making skin color the definition of humanity.
@@ACEDTVL it's quite beautiful that the African people kept their magic despite all the suffering they have gone through and are still going through. They don't discriminate, they use their knowledge to heal black, white and all other skin tones, because for them it's just another human in need of help. Will keep watching your videos, thank you. We all need to accept that we all originated from Africa. Thank you once again.
I got so excited watching the video and got transmitted the excitement of the guys doing the video 😊. I am so happy Mexico is very diverse and has lots of culture and history. Thank you for showing this.
As a dark skinned Mexican American this makes me feel so much better, my parents are from Mexico I was born in California, my parents are not as dark skinned but my grandmother was very dark skinned, I know me and my daughter carry her genes, not even my own mother as much, now this makes so much sense. I experienced being treated different because if how dark I am, this helps my heart. I love knowing the real history of were my genes come from
That might mean you either are native dark complexion doesn’t equate to African ancestry, my family is dark but most of my ancestry is native and they are really dark

You all come from Africa that is the truth Mexicans are part of the 12 missing Israelites, God sent us to America and South America as a holding land till he gathers us all at the end of the age and brings us back to the Mother land Alkebulan. The end of the age has come this world is ending very soon like the next 5 years and the new one which is eternal will begin. We will be given back our inheritance, the Earth. We all need to be cleansed first by being born again as the word of God has instructed us to do so because of the influence of other gods and religions that is not ours. We worshiped Elohim or El the great I AM.
There is NO such thing as “ Mexican American “ ALL Mexicans with no exception are Americans since Mexico has Always been part of the North American Continent.. That “ Mexican American “ thing is something made up by the USA to label people. !
That was so enlightening. I appreciated that the Afro-Mexicans were proud of their history. Moreover, the murals were beautiful and the food looked yummy. Thank you!
mexico just started to count afros in their cencus as of maybe several years ago and if u read up on the subject it is not nice nor have as a group of people received good treament thats the truth of the matter
What is these yerm Afro Mexican? Really think about it. Is this acceptable? Carbon colored people are the children of the soil. @@rickgrimes9481 He didn't say it did. He said they are proud of their diversity of colors. To which I know the Spaniards tried to brainwash most Latin Americans to hate dark skin. But you do have those that love it
These really have to change! It is not possible that in this day and age we continue discriminating against people because of their race!!!! How I wish they could feel and live the same way as their lighter skin counterparts!
Thats silly young lady. You wouldn't be more loved if you were green, purple, or black. We would care for you because of who you are. We love Guerrero because he was a Mexican hero that played a great part in gaining our independence not because he was black.

That's why I try to tell my people to stop talking so bad about black Africans because I study all of this stuff are roots are deep but allot of my people are mislead they be on the white man hatred towards black African Americans but scripture says forgive them for what they do not know that's why history is important and I study hard and do research on many things that the government don't tell us because are land was stolen and are people were sold out.
I'm an afro mexican descendant in Canada, always felt I didn't belong, had identity issues, this made me real emotional,. I want to say thank you for this video
Melina not all the darker hued in Mexico came through the ways described in the video. The Olmec and Toltec are dark hues and have been in that part of the world long before colonialism.
There’s 3 major issues with “black American aboriginal” theory 1.) there’s no ancient black skeletal remains found in the Americas 2.) black Americans have no “unique” DNA.. for example the Melanesians have unique DNA 3.) every time they dig and the further back they go in the Americas.. we find Amerindian DNA (Asian phenotype)

That slavery was outlawed in Mexico even before the US and they had an Afro Mexican President! They usually tell me I’m crazy. So I tell them to Google it. Thank you for making this video and tell the world, especially Afro Americans, that we have common ancestors! There is also a Mexican national hero, José Maria Morelos de Pavón. He was a priest and later a general who was very important in Mexico’s war of independence. The Mexican state of Morelos and the City of Michoacán, Morelia are named after him. Spread the news brother!
Lol. These are some of the excuses people use to justify the horrible state of Black people in their country in this time and era. The excuses are " hey we abolished slavery before the USA. A Black was a general or a deputy or a little town mayor hundred years ago" etc. We use it a lot here in France. And the USA is the only nation we use to make comparison as if it's the only non-subsaharan African country with a Black population. In France, we talk about African American of the USA 100x more than we talk about our own Black population in mainland France and in the Caribbean (Guadeloupe, martinique, French Guyana) and in the Indian Ocean (Reunion island) etc. This strange phenomenon has always fascinated me. I have no explanation for it.

That is because port cities, or cities with mines, will have a "large" black population. Since the Spaniards, or Portuguese in some countries, imported black slaves. However, it is worth mentioning that unlike other countries in Latin America, Mexicans on average are 8% black. This may be a result of continuous admixture between the natives, and the people who would later be called mestizos, and the indigenous population bouncing back. Which led to a surplus of Indian bodies to exploited, which led the importation of black bodies less financially viable. for starters, one can read Martha Menchaca's book: Recovering History, Constructing Race. Then browse through the footnotes, and reference list for other sources.

Since your Mexican, you are from a black skinned people originally. The colonists from Portugal and Spain gave you a new name and language, just like all over the world. Many ancient historians said they had Hebrew Israelite customs too. One blood and one people, because we ALL MIXED, and thats why we all have black, brown or tan skin. They lied to us all...
Cried bruh really? You guys should be crying that native americans are still alive in mexico after the hundreds of wars and death and sickness killed many off
The label “what they don’t show you” is deliberately misleading.

Detracting statement. It's not mainstream knowledge. Everytime I ask a South American including Mexican, they know nothing about the black communities in their countries. Here in Mexico to say black, is a gesture of affection and respect, not offense. So don't be offended, please.
most of the mexican have a family member we call negro. but we dont do it to offend any one we do it to show some love to our love one

My family is the inverse haha. I am black American and my husband is Mexican/Cuban American. We are having a son and it's nice to be able to show how closely related our cultures are.
Thank you for showing respect to our culture, and showing how we helped the slaves flee from America. Black and browns are literally brothers and we should stand United.

So they are American if they are born and raised in the U.S.. Mexicans are only Mexican by citizenship as being Mexican is ONLY a nationality NOT a DNA ethnic group. It is like saying you are American there are many ethnic groups in the U.S..
I’m an immigrant from Mexico, and was brought over to the U.S. as a child. I have seen much racism from my older generation family and I am always teaching them that stereotypes are toxic and diversity is beautiful. They deny it being racism, and consider it an opinion. I take every chance to speak up and talk with my family members. Colorism in Mexico is very real
I absolutely LOVE the diversity in Mexico and I have always used my privilege, being a lighter skin tone to advocate for my darker skinned brothers and sisters

Hi, I am Mexican living in the US. I learned about Afro Mexicans quite a while ago. So I tell my African American friends about Afro Mexicans and they are shocked!!
Yes, people are so culturally uninformed.
Wow…that’s sad. Black people are everywhere!!
Moor moor..Allah. Mejorr....
yes but the Olmecas were not black or african.
Thanks for sharing this video!! Very insightful and educational. I look forward to watching more of your videos. This video intrigued me because my family are Garifuna. The black indigenous in Honduras.
Thank you so much for this video! I am a Pastor of a Latino church in St. Louis, MO and a Spanish teacher who likes to inspire African American youth to learn Spanish. @@ACEDTVL brother I’m Mexican most of us have black genes no matter how dark or light we look in appearance. My dad is like 20% African 40% Amerindian Indian 3 % Jew diaspora and the rest Mediterranean and European.
