    You have to understand that every Rasta has their own understanding and belief or worship of Haile Selassie. There are differences in the beliefs just like how Christians have many denominations. But at the heart of Rasta, regardless of personal opinions is LOVE.
    As far as Jamaicans, some love and respect Rasta and some don't. It's just like how some Jamaicans hate their own country and culture.

    Leonard Percival Howell, The First Rasta. At the beginning of the last century, the young Leonard Percival Howell (1893- 1981) left Jamaica, became a sailor and traveled the world. On his way, he chanced upon all the ideas that stirred his time. From Bolshevism to New Thought, from Gandhi to Anarchism, from Garveyism to psychoanalysis, he sought to find his promised land. With this cocktail of ideas Leonard "Gong" Howell returned to Jamaica and founded Pinnacle, the first Rasta community. Numbers 6: 5
    Nazarite Vow
    The doctrine of Nazarite involves taking the three vows; no razor on the head, do not touch any dead bodies and do not drink any alcohol. There are few examples in the Bible of people recognized as Nazarites; Samson, Samuel, and John the Baptist.
    5 All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto the Lord, he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow

    • @seanregehr4921
      @seanregehr4921 2 года назад

      This is a false understanding. For example Samson slew many "enemies", meaning he would have been surrounded by many who perished. This would result in breaking the vow. How do you account for this? The vow as it is written is not even the fullness of the vow in Truth and in Spirit either. It is but a remnant which has survived for an account.

    The titles "Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah" and "Lords of Lords" was not and is not titles of Ethiopian Monarchs. Also, His Majesty never approved of being looked as God. Many of members of the Royal family, and the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, apart from the Emperor have stated this already. The Emperor was a devout Orthodox Christian and for this same reason sent the Ethiopian Orthodox Church to Jamaica to teach them the True Faith. Bob Marley himself was baptized a few months prior from his passing. His Baptismal name given to him was Berhane Selassie (Light of the Trinity). The name of the Emperor, Haile Selassie (Power of the Trinity), is actually his Baptismal Name which was used as his Throne name. A baptismal name is given to all who are baptized in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.

      Not quite there. Why omit "Negus Negast"? Or "Moa Ambessa Ze'imnegede Yihuda". Your statement is baseless, faulty and misleading. Haile Selassie did not claim to be God. That much was correct. The Emperor was rebuilding a nation and as such much need to be accomplished. Not all was right with the Orthodoxy, but one must chose which tasks will bear the most fruit and the largest yields. Even today the Orthodoxy has issues which remain and this is not a personal attack either just factually accurate. All mankind has sinned and fallen short of the Glory of JAH. What should be obvious historically is that the Ethiopian Orthodoxy was in better standing than the other bodies in this world. Much has been done to attack them on this front since HIM was Emperor.

    you have different types of Rasta...and it refers to clean living and natural facts...you don't cut ur hair because while ur separated from God ur hair keeps u in tuned to HIM...the US army just proved this to be true...AND RASTA knew it from the beginning

    INTERESTING!!! My Great Aunt told me, when I was around 10, that our family was from Ethiopia. She told me our color was blue black when we came to the Americas. We then mixed with the Indigenous that were here in North America. I wouldn't understand why she would tell me that until I reached 40 years old.

    It’s different rasta teachings. There are three distinct orders of the Rastafarian movement which hold different beliefs and symbols. These are: Boba Shanti, Nyahbinji and the Twelve tribes. That’s why you might get different teachers and it might be a bit confusing at times
