I can't believe you are creating such high quality content so early in your RUclips career, if not for your little interjection I would've had no idea this was your first video, can't wait to see where this channel goes
This was great! A really novel take on a well trodden concept that was thought out in a realistic way while still having the gyms and typings be strong. Even rock bug isn’t a terrible combination! Great stuff. My only thing that is just a nitpick is that you have the effects of certain moves wrong even when their proper effects are shown on screen, but even that’s not a big deal and just gets engagement like this haha
Not quite sure how the algorithm picked this up but man I'm glad it did! This was such a refreshing take on gym leaders! As a Dwebble lover myself I loved the Bug/Rock combo!
I really like this concept for Pokémon gyms. I haven't seen the dual-type gym leaders idea on RUclips, despite it having so many videos on the topic, so props to you. I look forward to seeing more of your content!
Very cool idea for video. What my problems with a lot of these types of videos is that people always make the strongest team without taking into account Gym leaders are supposed to be a difficulty curve. Aside from too many coverage moves, I think your type combos, pokemon choice, gym order and leaser choice were all interesting.
Commenting mostly for the algorithm. Three slight goofs I picked up in video. Façade only does double damage when the user has a status, not the opponent. Ice spinner does not remove hazards, but does remove terrain. Heavy slam on a heavy metal Duraludon, contrary to believe, would actually be a poor move choice. It's doubled weight would not be very high, and would do very little damage.
Nice catches on all the goofs! For Facade, I meant Hex, but just slipped my mind. I didn't know that about Ice Spinner until some people pointed it out, and I just learned about Duraludon's low weight! I was just tempted into it by wanted to make use of its ability. There's one more error in the video (at least one more someone has pointed out)! Can you find it?
@@PokéThink yes sir. I believe it is with Steelix getting the special defense boost from sandstorm. I personally spaced when listening to the video the first time, but saw someone else comment.
@@PokéThinkfound it. pain split on spiritomb “to finish things off” doesnt work, pain split can never get a ko since thatd require one of the pokemon to have negative hp when the move is used
I love all your ideas, you're makin' me wanna attempt playthroughs with some of these type combos. You should do a followup video in which you outline the "rematch" teams, y'know. Post-game rematches with the gym leaders and whatnot. Also this is your first video?? What a banger to start out with!
Incredibly well done Especially coverage is very well thought out Not just making perfect coverage movesets but an actual ingame challenge Few notes: -facade doesn't do more damage against burned opponents. It does more damage if zoroark is statused. Hex would work tho -steelix does not get a special defense boost in sand. Only rock types do -ice spinner does not remove hazards Edit: VISH SPOTTED!!
I've always thought multi-type, status, or themed teams should be the next logical step for gym leaders. Your team ideas were excellent and made sense, although me being me, I can't let an error slide on Jasmine's fairy/steel team. Ice Spinner only removes terrains, not entry hazards. However, this did give me the idea to swap Whimsicott and Azumarill's order, and give Whimsicott Grassy Terrain and a Terrain Extender instead of Leech Seed. This provides healing for the whole team instead of just Whimsicott, and it helps out Tinkaton and the other steel-types by weakening opposing Earthquakes. You just gained a follower, and I can't wait for more content!
Thank you for the correction (there are a few others that some other users pointed out, can you find them??) and that's a cool idea! I'm sad I didn't end up using terrain on any of these teams.
this is fantastic work!!! i've been trying to teambuild gym leaders for myself and this is a great reference for that extra challenge :) can't wait to see future videos
Man, this was a great video. I'd love to able to play a game that has this concept as it would probably be n actual challenge. Great production for your first video, and I hope the algo takes you far man.
You know, for this being your very first RUclips video ever, this was really well made. Great editing, original subject matter, and good presentation. You've just earned yourself a new subscriber. As for me, if I was Gym Leader who focused on two types, my gym would be based on Ghost and Ground types (my two favorite types). My gym would have an archaeology theme to it, with most of my Pokemon having an ancient vibe to them. I would be the 8th Gym Leader so I could have a fully evolved team. My team: 1. Cofagrigus 2. Claydol 3. Sigilyph* 4. Runerigus 5. Golurk (Ace Pokemon) *I know that Sigilyph doesn't technically have either of my type specialties since it's a Psychic/Flying type, but it fits the theme of my Gym so it gets a pass lol.
Nice team! I think there are lots of gym leaders that have off-type pokemon for the service of a theme! For a rematch team, maybe you could also add a Fossil Pokemon!
I'm not one to comment, typically, but when I heard this was your first video, I was flabbergasted. I expected this to be from a channel with like, 10k subs. Keep up the good work!
Nice concept, infinitely more interesting than the stale format current Pokemon games are running, doubt we’d ever see something like this unfortunately, but definitely could be used in a fan game or some post endgame Pokemon activity (like battle frontier etc.) one can dream 😂. Great 1st video keep grinding 👏🏻
I either agreed with or was utterly convinced by every pick in this video besides 1, great job! The 1 pick I disagreed with was making that skinny dude the Bug/Rock gym leader, he doesn't give Rock/Rock Climber vibes at all lol
That's honestly fair! Who would you have picked? I thought Bugsy might be cool as it gives "looking-under-rocks-for-bug" vibes, but I thought that pick might be a bit basic.
Have no idea how I came across this but this is such a great selection of Pokémon and typings. I would love for this to come in the 10th gen but we’re more likely to see this on a ROM Hack. Definitely subscribing and hoping to see more vids.
I would add that when you defeat a dual type gym you have to choose what TM you will receive. Let's say, Rock slide or U Turn. If you want the other one you missed you have to rematch the leader in the post game
That's so cool!!! I love the idea. Gives your playthrough some more choice and I feel like it would make Nuzlockes involve a bit more strategy (not that they don't already!)
Yeah, I was thinking that, but ended up not doing it due to what Level it would probably be for a fifth gym (it learns it at level 42). Not a huge fan of when gym leaders get early moves and early evolutions. TMs are fair game though!
@@PokéThink Well, you can still trade a Gallade that knows Psycho Cut that is under level 42 from a different game over to a Gen 9 game and then use the Ability Capsule/Patch to get Sharpness. That way, you have a Sharpness Gallade with Psycho Cut below level 42.
Those teams are great but they’re definitely too difficult for a normal Pokémon game. The fourth gym leader having Hoenn’s fourth gym leader’s ace with its hidden ability and an 80 bp sun boosted stab move with a 30% chance to burn is overtuned That being said I would 100% play a rom hack with these leaders
Yeah I think the overall idea for this video is that Gym Leaders are too easy right now, but some of these gyms are definitely more ROMhack difficulty or maybe optional Challenge mode (if they ever bring that back). And to be fair, a lot of the difficulty of a Pokemon game is created by what Pokemon are available for you to catch. Also jtlyk, Drought was added as a regular ability (Hidden ability is Shell Armor) to Torkoal in Gen 7.
For the Ice/Ground gym, since the team is entirely weak to fire, I would replace torterra by a ground/water type with water absorb (since you were afraid of water types) and give Mammoswine Thick Fat. Besides that the concept of dual type gym is really cool. I always wanted Game Freak made gym which are not one type. why not continue in this vein with 8 themed based gym (food, technology,...)?

It was good but you made a couple mistakes in this video, sandstorm doesn't raise steelixs special defense because it's not a rock type, facade boosts damage if you have a status and not your enemy (hex does that), ice spinner doesn't remove hazards, snow doesn't double defense, it only boosts it by 1.5x, and it's a better idea to not do mixed attacks on pokemon since if their lower stat is low enough it might not deal more damage anyway
nice work. you seem to misunderstand facade, though. it’s boosted only when the user is statused, not when the target is statused. if zoroark used facade against a burned opponent it would still only be 70 base power. id suggest giving it nasty plot instead

Elesa’s team can’t hit pignite for super effective damage
Exquisite… I have no notes
Duraludon doesn't really use Heavy Slam. It's a decpetively light mon, even with Heavy Metal. Why not rain team Electro Shot Archaludon?
Oh wow, you're right! I guess I just really wanted to make use of its ability. Electro Shot's a great idea!
Nice video
Thanks!
I think you meant to give Zoroark Hex rather than Facade to capitalize on leftover burns
Yep! Thanks for pointing it out.
nice work. you seem to misunderstand facade, though. it’s boosted only when the user is statused, not when the target is statused. if zoroark used facade against a burned opponent it would still only be 70 base power. id suggest giving it nasty plot instead
