I made 8 DUAL TYPE Pokémon Gym Leaders
Sometimes, Pokémon gym leaders are a complete push-over, being beaten by simply spamming a super effective move. However, if we gave gym leaders 2 Pokémon type specialties, they'd be a lot more fun to play against. Let's explore the game design of making dual type Pokémon teams!

    I love this concept, and the video is amazingly well done! I would've never guessed that this is your first or even 100th video. I would've changed Alolan Ninetales to have snow warning so that it doesn't need a turn to set up the snow and 2 turns to set up snow and aurora viel. Its duel weakness to steel makes that difficult. And I think it'll make it more unique since Mamoswine already has snow cloak. I also think Hisuian Zoroark should've had Bitter Malice (it's signature move) and Kilowattrel should've maybe had Wind Power, it's signature ability that charges up its next electric type move. This would work great with the tailwind set up earlier. But other than those nitpicks and personal preferences, this video was amazing! And I have an idea for a future video: A set of gym leaders for every type of terrain and weather, there are 4 terrains and 4 weathers in total so it works out perfectly. Something like Misty Terrain Misty Terrain doesn't have that many different interactions but that makes it good for an early gym. I have made this concept before on my own (never posted it anywhere) so if you would like my help I'd be more than happy to give it. Either way you've more than earned yourself a loyal subcriber!

      Hi! thanks for the feedback. I didn't really explain my process in the video (should have!) but I stayed away from Hidden Abilities and giving Pokemon moves before they could naturally learn them (Zoroark learns Bitter Malice at 46). Also that's a cool idea!

    Really great video, very high quality for a first video. Although, I have a few minor nitpicks (warning, overly critical writing below): 12:52 Why Zen Headbutt instead of Psycho Cut? Psycho cut gets boosted by sharpness, turning into a 105 base power move that's still 100% accurate, unlike the 90% accurate zen headbutt. The only benefit zen headbutt has is the chance to flinch, but Gallade isn't fast enough with only a base speed of 80 to take full advantage of the flinch chance 15:59 Why Giga Drain? Torterra already has seed bomb as a grass stab, and giga drain is using Torterra's weaker 75 special attack. If you want a healing move in that place, synthesis is much better, but leach seed could also work. If you wanted a second grass stab option, Wood Hammer uses the much better 109 physical attack that's also a really powerful move. 16:33 I'm surprised by the lack of rapid spin for Excadrill. I know stealth rock would not nearly be much of an issue for a gym that's half ground, but the ice types won't appreciate it, additionally any other hazards set up by the player. Considering you gave heavy duty boots for Kilowattrel and rapid spin for Torkoal, the logical option would be to add it here too. 16:48 I think light clay would work better for Alolan Ninetales instead of another icy rock snowscape. I doubt 7 full turns might pass between Glalie setting up the snow, both it and Excadrill fainting, and Ninetales reaching the field again, so immediately setting up an 8 turn aurora veil would be more beneficial. Even if 7 turns have passed, 8 turns of aurora veil is more beneficial than more snow that only give a 50% boost to defence. Considering this is the 7th gym, and this already exceeds the usual power level of the mainline gyms, I don't think light clay aurora veil would be unfair. 17:06 Again, the issue of using the weaker attacking stat for freeze dry, but I can give this a pass since it has a use that no other ice type or move in Mamoswine's movepool can do 18:07 I don't exactly see the point of giving Basculegion rain dance + damp rock if you aren't gonna give it swift swim too. Basculegion is already a menace in the rain without an ability, and while I get the appeal of adaptability and rain (and adaptability also benefits phantom force too), giving it swift swim so it outspeeds opponents would be more beneficial. Ridiculous amounts of damage is great, but only if you have the bulk or speed to use it, and already giving up a turn to set up rain isn't great for Basculegion 19:21 Why give it a second water type attack instead of a move like ice fang, psychic fangs, or crunch that also benefit from it's strong jaw ability? 21:27 Again the doubling up on stab attacks, especially one that don't provide a specific utility. If the opponent it's already poisoned, poison point has the same chance as poison jab to poison. I feel liquidation might be better than poison jab since it can hit the ground types that threaten it. Don't take these nitpicks too harshly, I'm just being way too critical, these were just some minor issues I noticed while watching. Again, an overall great video, a really interesting and unique topic, and I can't wait to see what else you make :>

    • @PokéThink
      @PokéThink Час назад

      Wow, thanks for all the feedback! I'll respond to a few Zen Headbutt was given since Psycho Cut is no longer a TM an can't be learned until the level 40's. I originally was going to include levels for each Pokemon, but it didn't fit the layout well. Yeah, Mamoswine needs Freeze-Dry to hit water types. It was part of the draw of the Ice/Ground combo, hitting 10 types for super effective damage. Maybe not the best strategy, but I liked it. Most of these other things were just oversights or things I didn't think of. Can't please everyone, for every comment I get about doubling up on same type attacks, I get a few about there being too many coverage moves. Gotta remember that these teams are supposed to be NPC playthrough teams, which often have doubled up type moves and stuff, not competitive teams.

    "ground covers ice weakness to fire" while a X2 against fire is on screen 🤣 (I know you meant that ground is super effective against fire but that still made me laugh) One thing i dont understand is that snow cloak makes you immune to ice if you are not ice type, but only ice types can have it. I doubt they did that for people using randomizers?

      I tried to keep the aces on each team as the highest bst pokemon. Archaludon has a bst of 600, which I feel like is maybe a bit too high for gym leaders (maybe a good fit for a rematch!)

    It was good but you made a couple mistakes in this video, sandstorm doesn't raise steelixs special defense because it's not a rock type, facade boosts damage if you have a status and not your enemy (hex does that), ice spinner doesn't remove hazards, snow doesn't double defense, it only boosts it by 1.5x, and it's a better idea to not do mixed attacks on pokemon since if their lower stat is low enough it might not deal more damage anyway

      @PokéThink Час назад

    This was great! A really novel take on a well trodden concept that was thought out in a realistic way while still having the gyms and typings be strong. Even rock bug isn’t a terrible combination! Great stuff. My only thing that is just a nitpick is that you have the effects of certain moves wrong even when their proper effects are shown on screen, but even that’s not a big deal and just gets engagement like this haha

    ok ok ok WAIT, a kilowattrel at the SECOND GYM is Insane cause youre basically asking for another X and Y situation where the second gym is at lv25+ due to wattrel evolving at 25, While i do love gen 6, the level jump between gyms 1 and 2 like that was NOT OK also i did a double take when you said Drifblim but Drilburs Cry plays LMAO also i love that you have so much faith in doubling Duraludons 88.2lbs with heavy metal AND gave it Heavy Slam to double down on that, i found that comedic. back in Sword and Shield i had a Duraludon with that gimmick, max Atk EVs too, it did Negative Damage even at 80kgs. and i missed it at first but Mirror Coat on non Assault Vest Duraludon isnt going to be doing a lot because of the Base 50 Spdef being such a hinderance. btw not trying to be a hater, just finding some things a bit odd and out of place.

      I stand by Kilowattrel. In Sword and Shield, the first gym is at level 20. All just depends on the gameplay around the gyms. The drilbur cry was a dumb mistake haha, and yeah! I didn't really look at Duraludons weight, I just wanted to use its ability. How deceptively light it is!

    Commenting mostly for the algorithm. Three slight goofs I picked up in video. Façade only does double damage when the user has a status, not the opponent. Ice spinner does not remove hazards, but does remove terrain. Heavy slam on a heavy metal Duraludon, contrary to believe, would actually be a poor move choice. It's doubled weight would not be very high, and would do very little damage.

    • @PokéThink
      @PokéThink 9 часов назад

      Nice catches on all the goofs! For Facade, I meant Hex, but just slipped my mind. I didn't know that about Ice Spinner until some people pointed it out, and I just learned about Duraludon's low weight! I was just tempted into it by wanted to make use of its ability. There's one more error in the video (at least one more someone has pointed out)! Can you find it?
