I did learn somewhat recently that Nightmare actually was teched on to a number of things in Gen 2's 6v6 singles metagame. The reason is because Rest and Sleep Talk is so common there, Nightmare serves as a way to counter that strategy

what's even worse about Synchronoise is that Umbreon can learn it, and since he's a Dark-type...its _even MORE_ useless to use

Some moves were purely made for contests in gen 3-4. At least I think so. Always look at both tables to see what they do.

I find Gen 1 Waterfall memorable because my strategy guide explicitly said it's a useful attack for Blastoise to use even though it was exclusive to the Goldeen line 🤪

I was so confused when you said gen 9 didn't introduce any ground type moves cuz I was like "huh wtf headlong rush, right?"
Nope, apparently it was introduced in LA for exactly Torterra and Ursaluna and wasn't Great Tusk's signature move. And if you look at gen 9's distribution, you're puzzled.
Hariyama, Torterra, Ursaluna, Great Tusk? What???

How could Crush Claw be exclusive to Zangoose in gen3 if Kangaskhan2 in the Emerald battle factory has it?

Crush Claw is only exclusively learned by level up. A few others learn it in gen 3 through breeding like Slakoth & Rhyhorn
