Great review. This device has certainly unbeatable value for the money. Basically they killed the Web Presenter and a whole bunch of Roland mixers and a few capture cards. They decided not to totally kill the Atem Television Studio HD by NOT adding a multiview output on this device. Otherwise...P.s. I can confirm that, at the time of this review, the only two switchers in the Atem lineup that can manage the audio delay are the ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K and the ATEM Constellation 8K.
Thanks for that info. On most devices the delay isn’t relevant because they are SDI inputs (which are realtime). But of course if you start with an HDMI camera and convert that to SDI, then your delay is already there. It’d be nice to see that added to other hardware for sure.
Absolutly amazing video review on Atem Mini, I have come up with a lot of ideas how to utilize it in a actual situation. Thank you very much for doing this.
Hi Joseph just watched the video. This is hands down the BEST overview tour I've seen on the ATEM mini. Thank you for sharing! You just got a new subscriber and I look forward to seeing more videos. Thanks!!
You missed one key feature changing the camera selections from cut bus to preview mode it would let you use the HDMI out as a preview monitor. Which is huge if you are using the USB c out
Great video showing the full capability of the ATEM mini. You’ve just got me to subscribe.........not sure why I haven’t come across your videos all these years!
Excellent video. I wanted to see a run-through of the Atem Mini after a friend gifted me his when he upgraded yesterday. Then I found your channel. Good stuff!
Thanks for the excellent review! I love that you mentioned the delay in audio/video with HDMI. Man, I don't even have to read the instruction manual now. ;-)
At the school where I work, the video switcher (a different manufacturer) has the exact same problem as the ATEM Mini when using the audio inputs. As you said, Joseph, they need to be delayed in order to match up with the video sources. One would think that these manufacturers would know this and put in the proper amount of delay on their audio-only inputs. Your solution of feeding good audio to camera 1 is brilliant. Here's a solution for those using a separate mixer for audio. Set up a mix bus (subgroup, aux bus, or directly to an FX bus) to receive all inputs. Send the bus to an effects unit if the channel sends aren't sent directly to the effect. (Many mixers have internal units but external is fine.) Set the effects unit to delay with 100% wet output so that you only hear the delayed output. Send only this effect to your main output. Now you can play with the delay amount until audio and video match closely enough. Please note that I have not tried this but it ought to work if your mixer has the required capabilities.
Thanks Bill. Unfortunately it's not a trivial problem because every HDMI camera is different. However Blackmagic has fixed this in a more recent update to the ATEM software, by adding a programmable delay on the tow MIC/LINE inputs. I did a video on it here: ruclips.net/video/H07ZW72CSD0/видео.html
Watching ruclips.net/video/qpypd0Z30ZI/видео.html at 2:22, the presenter mentions that the mic inputs can be offset in time to be in sync with the video!
Damn this lil thing is incredible! As someone who has worked in television and used a variety of switchers I can say the ATEM Mini can hold it's own with the big boys. Excellent review! Subbed!
As I am scratching my head trying to figure out how this musician can set up a live stream, I find this video and your channel. awesome stuff man, you explain in such a way I can understand. thank you for this, and I'll be picking one of these ATEM Minis up.
So much great info, and I definitely did not know about the compression differences between cuts and transitions! Extremely helpful info for keeping the best quality feed! Thanks!
I just got mine and i gotta say a lot has changed. ALL the inputs including the mic inputs now have delay, dynamics, and parametric EQ. I think it's also worth mentioning that the ATEM Mini PRO does have stream encoding onboard. I'll be honest, I don't know if it was even on the market when you made this video.
A great review Joseph. You certainly convinced me to buy this, instead of looking at a few other (even more expensive) competing product. One question: I have a Mac from 2015. I believe its USB 2.0. If I feed it the USB3 out from ATEM, will it still work fine as a webcam input? Lastly, that still img you showed, looked grand. Where is that in India? Even though I am from India, I don't know where that place is. Looks splendid.
@@photojoseph Thanks! I will check the USB3. One more probably simpler question. Probably the camera I can use, HAS to support webcam functionality. I don't think any camera can do that. Can it? And also, do I have to simultaneously record? Else, my camera times out and shuts the viewfinder in 30secs.
Your camera has to have clean HDMI out - nothing to do with webcams. Typically once a camera sees that its HDMI port is in use, it disables all sleep times. You're feeding the camera via HDMI into the ATEM Mini, and the ATEM Mini via USB into the computer. The ATEM Mini becomes the "webcam", not the camera.
Thank you for the complete review. The one we ordered finally arrived after two months on back order. For $295 this is a fantastic little box, pairs well with OBS, and Stream Deck (Using Companion). Blackmagic Design really hit the mark for a budget system, that is very powerful.
You did a great job! I am going to buy one to keep in my gak bag. You answered my question about mixing sources and frame rates, so that convinced me. THANK YOU!
Thanks for this. BTW... A compressor just makes loud sounds quieter. Threshold sets the point above which the reduction starts occurring (below it nothing happens). Ratio sets what percentage the overage amount is reduced by (i.e 2:1 means the overage is reduced by 50%, 4:1 is reduced by 75% etc...). Attack and release just define how quickly the reduction is applied and how quickly it goes back to normal once the input level drops back below the threshold that you set. Make-up gain isn't really part of the compression process but just an extra "volume knob" put directly after the compressor to conveniently put back some fixed amount of the volume that "might" be lost by the compression process. Compression, for dialogue anyway, is mostly really great for folks who yell (or whisper) a lot, trail off the end of sentences, or vary their distance from the microphone during the performance... none of which really apply to you using a lav and having fairly consistent and well-enunciated speech. Hope that helps a little.
Thanks Lee! I knew some of that, but your use-case clarifies things for sure. I'm about to experiment with expansion in my X-Air X16 since I just figured out that it has that feature, and it worked so well on the ATEM Mini!! Now that I understand what it does (opposite of compression), it makes a lot of sense and I can't wait to get it set up.
My studio tour is pretty outdated but see below, and my kit link is kit.com/photojoseph Watch this video first ruclips.net/video/aL1gV3yJvCM/видео.html and from there, here’s a three-part very detailed look at my setup ruclips.net/p/PLRe8DcOhgslp8kbjeTNG0S6KwR6_u_dyt (although it’s over a year old now and some details have changed).
I have the ATEM mini for about 4 month and now I learned a few thinks things to you what have irritate me all the time. Thanks!!! Aloha from Switzerland BigWill
That was a very good tour of the ATEM Mini. As a very fresh user, I get going right away. Of course, a lot still to look into and try out, but it's just for me to see this video again as many times as needed. I'm using the Wirecast software for streaming. Would be interesting to have an idea of using your hardware streamer vs Wirecast (and other software-based solutions). Especially on the go, where I use my MacBook Pro with less power than my iMac, streaming to a number of channels at the same time.
You have managed to explain everything i needed to know and more in 1 video, after watching about 10 other tutorials about the atem mini i still didnt get the same info
Great review! I like the way you explain stuff like the difference between transition and fast cut. I'm a bit wiser now..:) Plus, I'll most likely order beast for my multicam streaming drum lessons. Thanks!
Letting know that a separate show about Webcaster would be highly appreciated! Thanks for a great content. I think I'm buying the "pro" version. Scaler + USB to act as a capture card are both killer features for me. Even saving some space on the desk compared to good old Atem Television Studio + Intensity is a huge win.
Great product. Great demo. Even I could understand follow along and see what it's uses are. And for just 300 of your Colonial 'bucks' (ahem). That's quite astonishing to me. It only *costs* what it costs, but I can see it's one of those products that's *worth* much more. BM must be killing it these days. While I'm here - have a great xmas fellah.
My man! Haven’t seen you around here in a while. Always good to hear from you… but you’re sarcasm game is low; you feeling alright? Merry Christmas brother. Be well.
Well done! Thanks for this! I have been using the bi-directional SDI HDMI micro converter and was looking for something like this! When you turned on the expander, I personally didn't notice much of a difference.
Spent hours watching your videos whilst being on lockdown! #covid19 Super entertaining and I'm geeking out about this piece of kit. I wish I bought this before my last commercial shoot. I had a 3 day shoot of some conference training. This would have saved me a whole day's worth of editing by cutting live and saving direct to a monitor like the ATMOS.
Thanks very much! I'm an IT and audio guy, just peeking into streaming and seen this product and searched for videos. And your video is ... well ... exactly what I was searching for. Just explaining easy what is possible. Brought me two steps nearer to hit the "buy" botton. But not like these "sales videos" you see for so much products - just easy and understandable - as a guy telling his experience. Great! Just keep going! I really liked the way your doing videos ... einfach angenehm zuzuschauen, sympatisch und sehr gut gemacht! (nice guy, easy and professional in EN). Best regards from Berlin Stefan
Thanks Stefan! Also, side note, your city is one of my favorites in the world. I absolutely love it there. Ever eaten at Al Contadino Sotto Le Stelle on Gormannstraße? I haven't been in nearly a decade, but when I first at there 15 years ago it was one of the best meals of my life. Also where I met John Barlow (EFF). Go figure.
One more awesome feature worth to mention - this device has also an aux output, which means that on the usb you can have one camera and at the same time on hdmi you can simultaneously have turned on another camera than on the usb :) Please show the green screen features!
This was exactly what I needed to watch before purchasing ! Just a question, as I have planned to use it as you've used on your show "Live to tape". Very new to this so how did you record the whole show live to tape? to what software was it going into? Having a hard time understanding it was recorded? Hope the question makes sense
This one was recorded by putting an HDMI recorder (an ATOMOS Ninja) between the ATEM and the TV. However now, the ATEM Mini Pro and Pro ISO have the ability to record to a USB drive.
Thank you for this great presentation. This ATEM mini is a perfect tool for the Covid-era education world. My wife is a superintendent and I need to show this tech to teachers and school leaders
Hello Joseph, congratulations as I think your presentations are the best explaining documents for the ATEM mini. I´m about to receive my box and have a question: I´ll not have a Streamcaster, I´m thinking about using my mac as the streaming device, so if I want to connect the computer to one of the ATEM´s input to play videos or to show some slides can I still use that same computer for the streaming? using OBS or some other streaming software.
To be clear, you got an ATME Mini, not a Pro or higher, right? The short answer is yes but please elaborate on how you want to use it and I’ll make it one of my new mini Tips.
@@photojoseph All right, I'll be focusing in small events for business, this means 2 or no more than 3 camera angles (1 wide and the others as close shots) pointing to a talent head or a product. Then I'll need to play pre-recorded videos from my computer + slides from a presentation maybe, etc. Think of something small like a business webinar or something bigger like a remote school graduation ceremony where there's someone speaking in front, and from time to time you can see photo slides of the students been graduated. I hope you get my idea... I'm trying to do this the simplest way. What I don't know is if I can use the same computer to play the videos and at the same time use it to make the streaming (I don't even know what software I'll be using). So in recap ATEM mini inputs 1, 2 & 3 for cameras and 4 for the video / slide player (My Mac), I don't have the ATEM Mini yet to try the connections but It will be great if you shown me some kind of enlightenment!! Regards my friend
Excellent show. Got our ATEM Mini Pro yesterday and wanted a quick overview. Obviously this was the Mini, but it was still a great tutorial. Thanks. What would I like to see? A deep dive into keying (Luma, Chorma and Alpha, if that’s even possible).
no, you can output to the computer via USB C but you'll get a better quality image if you go HDMI to a converter into the computer. Not massively better, and for live streaming it's unlikely to be worth the hassle.
This was one of those video reviews not many people makes. Very detailed knowledgeable and easy to understand. What brow me to this video was the interest on buying one of this or the M/E 2 4K, yes it is a big difference on prices! I think this will be enough to start doing Live Multicam Switching! I will think and consider the trip to India by the way!!
Glad you enjoyed, and yes it's a hell of a product for hte price. And if you join me in India, you can expect this same level of care and detail! ;-) hehe hope to see you there - photojoseph.com/india
Great review and super simple explanations of the features. I have one of these and after watching your show I know how to use it for my intended purpose in my film production company. Awesome!
Thanks for watching! The DVE Store h̶a̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶s̶e̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶s̶t̶o̶c̶k̶ ̶r̶i̶g̶h̶t̶ ̶n̶o̶w̶ is sold out too 😳 (popular product!) but get your order in anywhere here: geni.us/ATEMmini - also there are timestamps in the description. Cheers!
Great review. Bought two of these and other then not being able to reset the default PIP size I love it. One thing to keep in mind is that the unit will set its output to the same size and frame rate as the first source plugged in. You can however change that using the software. A slightly upgraded model with multiview out would be killer even if it raised the price 200$.
Thanks! Yeah it'll be interesting to see where they take this. The $999 model does have multiview so I kind of don't see them adding another level in-between, but we'll see!
Looks amazing! I am surprised though that it can take in all those different frame rates yet not be able to delay external audio source. Still, for the money a very powerful device
I know, right… apparently the 8.1.1 update makes the audio lag much less so it becomes acceptable. But it's still not user tunable. Fingers crossed they add that.
I dunno… that company is full of surprises. If it can be done in software, I think they'll do it. That's a big *if* though… no idea what is required there!
The very best ATEM Mini video I've seen. Thank you so much for your thorough video. I plan to primarily use mine for live streaming. When you cautioned about doing dissolve transitioned and the artifacts live streaming algorithms to create pixelization, I wanted to ask you for your recommendation for injecting pre-recorded video to have a hybrid Livestream using the ATEM Mini. Is this possible or will the pixelization be too bad to have a good image. I was hoping it would basically be as good as the other video, but your comments make me think not.
Thanks for the compliment. Any potential artifacts from changing too many pixels at once is 100% dependent on the encoder + bitrate. If you are using software encoding at a low bitrate, it's probably going to look like trash. If you're using hardware encoding and a higher bitrate, it'll probably be fine. Of course in the world of live, there are zero guarantees, but the likelihood of success is much higher with hardware. As to injecting pre-recorded video, the easiest way would be to have a laptop as one of the sources with your videos queued up there to play full screen. If you need a budget solution, in my most recent video on the ATEM ruclips.net/video/UuCPuqcAH94/видео.html I show a tiny player that works pretty well.
@@photojoseph Thank you for responding! I'm using www.crowdcast.io as my streaming platform and my PC is the source. I was hoping to use another PC playing the vide and connect its HDMI out as the source going to one of the HDMI inputs on the ATEM Mini as its the "webcam" for the PC. What's the best way to ensure the video looks as good as possible?
I was with you until you said "as its the "webcam" for the PC"… not sure what you mean by that. Are you saying you're using the webcam in a computer, through the HDMI into the ATEM and using that as your camera? If that's the case, then a) that's a pretty crappy camera and I'd highly recommend getting a real camera; even a LUMIX G7 is only $500 w/ lens and will be about 1,000x better than any webcam geni.us/E3hOgKB Other than that, run tests to check quality but if you're not happy with what you're getting from the computer, consider an Epiphan X2 as the streaming encoder. You can configure it to stream to RTSP (I didn't talk about it in this video but you can ruclips.net/video/UuCPuqcAH94/видео.html ) so you can stream to your crowdcast system.
@@photojoseph Sorry I wasn't more clear. I have a GH3 and GH4 feeding two inputs. I want to use something to inject b-roll into a third input. The output is via the USB-C which is acting as a webcam for my Crowdcast platform. So the question is: what's the best way to inject b-roll with the ATEM Mini. I'm concerned the video won't look good once it gets minimized by the streaming algorithms.
Great tour. Thorough and well informed. There is a way to change the size of the picture in picture. The ATM mini promo video by BlackMagic actually shows how. It's pretty easy.
Wow what an amazing video. I think this might be the solution for a video podcast to be able to switch in real time as opposed to manually switching in post which has been taking an absurd amount of time! Questions for you: How many files created? A combined file as you switch plus all individual files? I ask because if I messed up the switch and need to edit in post. Does this device work for 4K files?
Are you sure you're commenting on the right video? This is the original ATEM video which has no recording. Maybe you're thinking of the new ATEM Mini Pro ISO? ruclips.net/video/vwPH4l5R-dw/видео.html
@@photojoseph Thanks! Yep definitely the right video. I ask because you mentioned that you weren't live when you filmed this. I'm assuming you had a video capture device saving everything as you were switching?
@@photojoseph might save a few bucks without all the extra jazz if I don't care for multi-cam and the added features of the newer models. Thank you again sir! Keep up the great work. Learn a lot from you!
@@photojoseph One quick question, you did mention the USB output works as a webcam on any software, I wonder if it will work with Vimeo-Live and Zoom? Do you know?
Definitely works with Zoom. Don't know about Vimeo-Live. It also works with Skype and Facetime, and even RUclips's own "web cam live" feature. With GoToWebinar, I've discovered that it's actually cropping the entire image, which (after many emails with their tech support) I believe has to do with how they handle "HD", which isn't HD, but is bunch of BS where they consider six video streams together to be HD… anyway, you can't use it with that without additional hardware (i.e. use the HDMI out and convert that to USB). No one has a good answer to why it doesn't work, but it doesn't.
If you're using it for music performances, then you'll likely have a mixer between the source and the ATEM, and most advanced mixers offer a delay function. And if not, check out this box, which adds programmable delay: geni.us/VePn
Great video, have been itching for this to actually get released. The only drawback is not having delay on the mic inputs. That must be coming in a firmware update, have you come across anything to suggest it yet?
I've asked the company, and all they will tell me is that they've filed it as a feature request. This is an external hardware option for handling the delay if you need it geni.us/VePn
Amazing on the quality you are getting! Which software do you use with Atem Mini is it OBS? Do you have any videos where you show all them setting etc? I have such a huge delay in the sound and not sure why... :(
The camera we are seeing in front of you that you talk to what model is it? It looks amazing! And the video is great! Thanks a lot for sharing the knowledge!
Thanks for overview Joseph. I have found a way to change the size of picture in picture as well as being able to change source of picture in picture. If you go into Palettes on interface and click on upstream key 1 and go over to DVE. Fill source is your click down camera option and alter size below. hope that helps.
Thank you so much for the incredible presentation @photojoseph. Question for you (and my apologies if I missed it in your presentation), could I use the hardware (box) and software simultaneously? Meaning use the physical box to hit the buttons to switch, but use the software to handle the advanced audio capabilities? Or do you have to switch/choose between one or the other?

Watching ruclips.net/video/qpypd0Z30ZI/видео.html at 2:22, the presenter mentions that the mic inputs can be offset in time to be in sync with the video!
best review, no boring jokes, no fancy transitioning.
Damn this lil thing is incredible! As someone who has worked in television and used a variety of switchers I can say the ATEM Mini can hold it's own with the big boys. Excellent review!
Subbed!
Thanks, and yeah, this is an impressive unit for sure
one video and i know all i needed to about using the ATEM mini, thanks so much, GREAT job.
As I am scratching my head trying to figure out how this musician can set up a live stream, I find this video and your channel. awesome stuff man, you explain in such a way I can understand. thank you for this, and I'll be picking one of these ATEM Minis up.
excellent, I'm glad I could help!
Excellent video overview. I wish more product overviews were as well composed as this. Great job!
Thank you!
So much great info, and I definitely did not know about the compression differences between cuts and transitions! Extremely helpful info for keeping the best quality feed! Thanks!
Thank you man! That is the best tutorial of atem mini on YT, thank you very much!! I was looking for that a long time.
Glad it helped!
Very informative. We've got one at my workplace, this video really sped up the learning process.
Thank you.
No, you do have to have USB3. But my MacBook Pro is from 2014 and it has USB 3.
Oh and India… that was Varanasi
Thank you for the video! Just got my ATEM mini and I can't wait to work it with my URSA pro and my GH 4.
Brilliant demo, very informative. Your presentation style is just brilliant. I'm sold on this device, it's exactly what I need. Cheers!
Thank you, I appreciate that!
Thank you for the complete review. The one we ordered finally arrived after two months on back order. For $295 this is a fantastic little box, pairs well with OBS, and Stream Deck (Using Companion). Blackmagic Design really hit the mark for a budget system, that is very powerful.
When using with OBS did you have issues with the delay of sound and visual matching up?
@@DavidCastoExperience yes. you have to syncronize
@@EJGentleman thank you
You did a great job!
Excellent presentation and delivery Joseph!
This is my first time seeing a video on this channel and I just want to say it is absolutely excellent!
Thank you!
My studio tour is pretty outdated but see below, and my kit link is kit.com/photojoseph
Watch this video first ruclips.net/video/aL1gV3yJvCM/видео.html and from there, here’s a three-part very detailed look at my setup ruclips.net/p/PLRe8DcOhgslp8kbjeTNG0S6KwR6_u_dyt (although it’s over a year old now and some details have changed).
Here’s another one… sheesh sorry. If you have any questions to let me know.
You have managed to explain everything i needed to know and more in 1 video, after watching about 10 other tutorials about the atem mini i still didnt get the same info
haha glad to help. My videos may be long… but they attempt to be thorough ;-)
I just bought the pro one to spare some time in video editing but you just gave me a whole tutorial. Awesome. Thanks ;)
Thank you so much for this explanation, i finally understand how too use the Atem mini...Thank you so much, keep up the good works
Thanks so much Joseph..Best hands on and down to earth demo i have seen..i like you now know everything about an ATEM MINI...XX
Thanks so much for this video. We pray to we have success with this product.
Just picked up one of these and this video was very helpful. Thank you!!
When you turned on the expander, I personally didn't notice much of a difference.
sweet! Hope it works out for you ;-)
Fantastic Presentation! You make it so incredibly easy to follow and understand. Getting one!!
Aw thank you, I appreciate that!
Great video! This was the ATEM mini video I've been searching for! Thank you!1
Spent hours watching your videos whilst being on lockdown! #covid19 Super entertaining and I'm geeking out about this piece of kit. I wish I bought this before my last commercial shoot. I had a 3 day shoot of some conference training. This would have saved me a whole day's worth of editing by cutting live and saving direct to a monitor like the ATMOS.
It's a great piece of gear, for sure! Glad you found my video 😊
Thank you for being so specific with your breakdown.
Best regards from Berlin
Stefan
Thanks Stefan! Also, side note, your city is one of my favorites in the world. I absolutely love it there. Ever eaten at Al Contadino Sotto Le Stelle on Gormannstraße? I haven't been in nearly a decade, but when I first at there 15 years ago it was one of the best meals of my life. Also where I met John Barlow (EFF). Go figure.
@@photojoseph No, sorry. Looks like they moved to Auguststr. But todays all restaurants are closed ... lockdown ... corona ... :-(
BassBaseBerlin well when the world starts spinning again, try to go. I hope it’s still superb!
Best in depth review I've seen on this.. thanks so much.
Subbed, great channel.
Thanks!
One more awesome feature worth to mention - this device has also an aux output, which means that on the usb you can have one camera and at the same time on hdmi you can simultaneously have turned on another camera than on the usb :)
Please show the green screen features!
I covered the use of HDMI out vs USB-C out in the next video, ruclips.net/video/sFH-dT2s02w/видео.html - I haven't looked at greenscreen yet.
Great Video ! I bought this box for months but I finally know what can this do after watching this , Thanks Joseph !
Thank you so much for this video! By far the best overview of the ATEM Mini that I've watched.
Aw, thanks!!
@@photojoseph Hey thanks, I'll work on the requirements and how I plan to use it ASAP. And yes, is the ATEM mini, not Pro or any other.
Hi Joseph! Just found your channel. So glad I did:) Thank you for sharing your love and knowledge of the tech!
Thanks for watching!
Very good video. Easy to follow, you kept my attention the whole time. One question, do you have to use a video capture card to output to a computer?
no, you can output to the computer via USB C but you'll get a better quality image if you go HDMI to a converter into the computer.
Super.... love this. I was looking for info and the search got me here. Perfect tour of the ATEM Mini. Thanks a million,
You're welcome! And thanks for watching!
Wonderful video Joseph! As always absolutely detailed and informative. Thanks so much! :D
Thanks for saying so, Andrea!
outstanding video that really helps a beginner understand some useful technology. Thanks!
Great review and super simple explanations of the features. I have one of these and after watching your show I know how to use it for my intended purpose in my film production company. Awesome!
Nice to hear, thanks for letting me know!
Cheers!
Thanks so much for timestamp in the description. I almost walk away for being too long at 28 minutes.
There's a lot to cover
What an awesome overview. I ordered mine yesterday and I feel ready to go. Thanks so much!
Excellent!
@@photojoseph Wanted to say again how much I enjoyed your review. Subbed.
Thank you!
@@photojoseph They saw my comment and had the product out in a week! That is service.
Very awesome tutorial. Thanks, just bought an ATEM to use with my BMPCC4k, and my HD Sony XDCAM.
An incredibly gifted presenter! Thank you that was really helpful!
aw shucks, thanks!
I agree with this. Definitely has a calling for teaching.
@@photojoseph oh that's very good news, hopefully they do make it user adjustable but I fear it won't be done for the mini.
I dunno… that company is full of surprises. If it can be done in software, I think they'll do it. That's a big *if* though… no idea what is required there!
@@photojoseph Yeah if there's any company out there to deliver on things it is probably BMD :-)
Outstanding review!!!! I really love your style of presentation. Great job!
Thank you Alipay, I appreciate that!
Great tour. Thorough and well informed. There is a way to change the size of the picture in picture. The ATM mini promo video by BlackMagic actually shows how. It's pretty easy.
yes, I covered that in here, it's in the software
Hi Joseph! Excellent video. Now i know that i should order it ;) However, Can you tell us what microport you used for this recording?
microport? Do you mean microphone? The Audio-Technica AT875R geni.us/gwNRtIi
a microphone pinned to your shirt :)
awesome video as usual Joseph! if you have the chance, please do that show with the Epiphan in conjunction. Cheers!
I’ll do that, thanks!
It looks like the Webcaster X2 is no longer available...any other suggestions? Great demo, by the way!
Great video, super detailed review. It was like you knew the questions I was going to ask. Thanks so much!!
haha I do my best!
Great walk thru! Thank you. Are you in the PNW?
Oh I see. Yes, I was feeding the HDMI out from the ATEM into an ATOMOS Ninja recorder
@@photojoseph might save a few bucks without all the extra jazz if I don't care for multi-cam and the added features of the newer models. Thank you again sir! Keep up the great work. Learn a lot from you!
Thanks!
Good explained! Thank you for your help. Especially in these times of the corona crisis.
Happy to help… just wish I could magically get these things in stock!
This is genius, the product is great but the demonstration is so thorough. Thank you very much
I really appreciate that, thanks
Excellent. Very informative. I want this but am concerned about the audio delay issue (be using for live music performance).
This wasn’t a live stream, it was recorded “live”, i.e. “live to tape”. But then it was uploaded. I use hardware to stream; my encoder is by epiphan.
The camera we are seeing in front of you that you talk to what model is it? It looks amazing! And the video is great! Thanks a lot for sharing the knowledge!
Thanks! That's a GH5 and Nocticron lens geni.us/h2UL and geni.us/fAUWH
Great job! Fantastic lighting!
Thanks!
Thanks for overview Joseph. I have found a way to change the size of picture in picture as well as being able to change source of picture in picture. If you go into Palettes on interface and click on upstream key 1 and go over to DVE. Fill source is your click down camera option and alter size below. hope that helps.
Yes, you have full control over the PiP in the software.
Blackmagic continues to push the value and feature envelope. More companies should be like that.
agreed! They are killing it with this product.
Great tutorial, thanks Jo! Can you show more than one feed in picture in picture?
