I have a son, not a daughter, but I feel you. I am SO glad that I never had a daughter in so many ways The constant worry about even having raised a son is bad enough, but girls.. Your son comes home one night and says he had sex, yahoo!. Proud of you boy! Your daughter? Oh what the fk? where is my baseball bat? I don't know why this is, maybe it is genetically programmed into fathers. Can't say, but not even having a daughter, I know I would still have that feeling, no idea why. Maybe raised by my parents to respect and protect girls . Laughingly I still walk on the outside of the pavement when passing elderly, female or child pedestrians as I was brought up to believe that I must be the first to be hit in case of a car mounting, so that I could maybe help save their lives. This was instilled in me when I was maybe 10 to 12 years old by my mother and father, and I still by habit do this to this day, and I am in my 60's. Old fashioned? Chivalrous? I don't think so. I just like to think it is respect. I have made many mistakes in my life, but none of them with any malice, I would love to think I earned my parents respect, as they did mine.

You shouldn't want to harm any other living being, if it's not for your survival (protection or food, the same goes in relation to your family, because you need your family to survive in order for civilization to continue), especially if we're talking about actions like this, what's done is done, he's not saving or protecting anyone, vengeance leads you nowhere but to more grief. Sadly, the father would pass away not that long after this incident :(.
On the 'bright side' though, karma itself would come back and haunt the killer's own family. You see not that long after the killer's conviction, his eldest son would go on to brutally stab his grandmother(the killer's mother) along with his three younger siblings to death before turning himself into police.
