What an awesome opportunity and 10 out of 10 for taking on the challenge - respect ✊. Keep doing what you do Andrew and thanks for all the great videos.
A well deserved Invite for all your amazing riding and hard work with your videos. Glad you had a great day and you feel you learnt plenty. Good news about the info on your vertigo and hope that the contacts you made prove beneficial for you. Thanks !
What an opportunity. Absolutely outstanding video mate. Hearing ur nervous giggling during the first trail made me chuckle. The voice over was spot on + really added to the vid. Great work + keep it up. Ur going from strength to strength
Dude your riding is awesome & inspirational . Fast bike parks are a skill in itself which many are now growing up with from a young age, but riding natural rocky techy mountain descents is a whole other level which you do with style & ease What an awesome experience that must have been!
There are many riders out there that can only really ride bike parks well, but I’m very much the other way around. My mountain riding skills are very niche I suppose.
WOW! What a video, what an experience and yes, you absolutely deserve to be there. A star studded line up and you've rightly earned your place in this one. Loved every minute of this one and I really hope this gets you even more subscribers and can open some more doors for you. If you talk to anyone out on the trails who they watch on youtube, your name comes up every time. Great job mate🤟
Thanks you very much Mark 😊 Sometimes it can be a slog and I feel like I’m not getting anywhere, but then there are times like this and comments like yours that keep me going🙏
You’ve some awesome skills Andrew. Always look forward to your videos as they’re not just about riding bike parks but more about riding down the side of an epic mountain. Inspiring
Absolutely, I just thought I would ask on the off chance, just in case he knew anything that I hadn’t heard before. I’m very glad I did ask and hopefully this can lead to a more permanent solution.
I’m blown away mate just a brilliant video. Never seen you jump like that just incredible bro. Massive respect! Such and insight and great coverage of your feelings and learning 🤙🏽
Go easy on yourself.....its about getting to end of the day in one piece and having a blast doing it. Even though I hhave been riding and racing XC for years, I have the same issues you do, so this proved helpful.
What a great experience for you Andrew...and a testament to you that you were invited to this event by Red Bull...a just reward for the exellent quality and diversity of your u tube videos...well done on all fronts !!!!
the front wheel dug in and the ground moved under it. weight too far forward a wee bit but new track and different materials so cheers for braving it blind and crushing it like a true Scotsman
Absolutely brilliant stuff chuffed for you, especially riding with the legend Tommy C,hope it opens some doors for you whatever it is,best of luck to you,you put the work in your channel keep it up 👍🔥
Thanks Peter, Tommy is one hell of a rider, couldn’t believe the speed he rides at. Definitely feel like some doors have opened, just need to step through them.
Great video and voiceover, most other vlogs from the event were had sketchy audio. Thanks for the weighting the trailing foot tip, I had inconsistent "pop" until I tried the fix and it cured the issue. Speaking of curing issues, my wife had horrendous vertigo until a doctor carried out the Epley manoeuvre putting the crystals back in their place, takes 10mins and the cure was immediately. Youve probably heard of it but just in case you haven't there are loads of vids on you tube about it.
Amazing how such a simple change can make such a big difference 👍 I’ve tried the epley manoeuvre many times to varying results. The problem I have is that the epley manoeuvre works for either the left or right ear, but I have problems in both ears which complicates things somewhat.
Andrew mate... What a video! I've watched some of the other videos so I was really keen to see the perspective of someone I know. I thought it was brilliant. I was gutted that you had that spill and I could totally empathise with what was going through your head. However you rebounded so well and the that was evident in your tone and body language. Voice-over worked really well. Sometimes that's the best way on days like that. Awesome Andrew. I hope this gets the views it deserves 🤙
Amazing footage on "50 Hips"! I watch your channel for the Scottish trails you ride- I don't even own a bike with suspension but that day looked and sounded top drawer. Your sense of achievement really comes through.
Absolutely 💯. Without blowing smoke you did really well considering your comfort zone is probably natural mountains. What would be interesting to see is one of those downhill bikes coming down one of your mountain trails . 👍
Very much a fish out the water in a bike park, so I felt I couldn’t really show my full potential. I’d love to take that downhill bike down a Munro some time, that would be awesome!
Superb video MrMcT. I've been watching you since your early days (shame I had to pull my patreon support due to redundancy) and am so pleased you've stuck to your style and it paid of big time for you. Your progression continues ❤👍
No worries regarding patron, i’m just happy you supported me when you could, and continue to do so through RUclips. Also glad you appreciate that i generally stick to things that I enjoy and don’t go to click bait with my videos.
Wow! What an amazing trip it's sounds like it was an amazing learning experience too. Thanks for sharing this, it was a great watch. It's so insightful to see the pros in any sport close up, you can learn so much from them and you clearly did!
Hi Andrew. I've been following you for a few years now. I really enjoy your vlogs and you've inspired me to push myself from local trails to riding much bigger stuff like the Golfie and the Lakes. You (and Piers) helped me get through covid times and I've never seen you put out a bad video. It's great to see your lack of ego and your desire to improve your riding. Keep doing what you do and Hope to bump into you out on the trails sometime.
Thanks for the kind words Mark, really appreciated. Good to hear that your progressing too. Riding with such quality riders on a day like this helps to keep me humble 😜
Great video Andy, and a richly deserved day out for you. What a blast. And progress is progress. (Thought about going to that bike park but watching this has confirmed is well beyond my abilities).
So glad you eventually got to go and ride Dyfi. We're lucky to only be a couple of hours away (and from Revs and Antur) and to have decent DH bikes. They are a game changer. Dyfi is probably the best bike park in the UK and recently, Mikayla Parton has been down a fair bit. If only we could get something like that back home. Hope to bump into you down there in the future (or at Fort Bill this weekend). Class video!
Well done and congratulations you’re earned that experience with your unique take on big mountain riding. Keep up the good content and hope to bump into you this weekend at Fort Bill.
That bottom section of 50 hits is absolutely insane so I don't blame you for skipping it! I was worried that I wouldn't make it to the top of some lips haha
Wow what an experience for you meeting all the pros the athertons and everyone else, who cares about your small crash at the start just put it down to nerves, sounds like you took a lot away from the day. I had a short chat with gee at the London bike show last month really nice guy and as for the bikes wow, only ever seen them once but I want one. I need to get to dyfi bike park, great vid 👌
The overall experience was very good, the crash was soon forgotten. The bikes are genuinely different to the rest of the pack, and the performance is right up there too👍
awesome video and day Andrew, the Athertons are just legends and Bondy gave some great coaching tips - great that you saw improvements during the runs - you were smashing it through some sections, great progress- looks like brilliant trails over there, nice one
What an experience and what a video!. Inspiring to see your humble attitude throughout the video despite being a hell of a rider yourself. Good stuff. Congrats on the video and the wonderful experience!
Great video. What was the information you were given about vertigo, if you don't mind. I've had BPPV a few times and quite often get odd bouts of vertigo which never used to happen. I was at the top of the descent into Loch Muick the other day had it come on then, not ideal.
Quite a long story for a comment, but the basics are that is not just my right ear that’s the problem and it’s not from a burst ear drum. Instead, it’s most likely both ears and caused when I had a bad car crash. The main thing was that it’s both ears, and that makes a lot of sense when I think about the hit and miss nature of when I do the epli manoeuvre.
@@McTrailRider Thanks for the response. Best of luck with the vertigo, those epley maneuvers are wild. I've found that since practicing meditation (which I used to dismiss as nonsense) I can almost bring myself back to calm after the initial vertigo that falsely triggers a panic attack response from the body. Keep up the videos. Every single person I've met on a bike in the hills loves your videos.
Great clip Andrew, great riding in there and def make me want to get some coaching. Been watching you for years and don't see you off very often, so you are human !! and actually just shows how much keeping equipment fresh makes a big difference. Keep them coming as always.... And an invite very much deserved btw 👍👍
Great video, looks like a cracking day out. Have you spoken to any specialist vestibular physio's about BPPV. I'm sure you know this already but there are techniques for removing those crystals. Vertigo is an absolute bastard.
As always I think your modest, growing up in the Lake District a big day in the mountains is not a trivial thing and requires a whole skill set. I am sure if you spent a year riding bike parks and jump lines on a downhill bike you would be up there. Likewise take one of them for a day out in the Cairngorms I am sure it would turn the tables. Love the channel keep up the good work.
It was humbling to ride here for the day as it’s simple not the kind of riding I do. I’m definitely better at the mountain stuff and that’s where I’m happiest. That dh bike in the mountains would be awesome right enough 👍
Watched Tommys video yesterday and was waiting for this to drop. Loved both of them and definitely agree with you on using a coach for riding and strength/gym work. I’ve just started on a program myself and I’m already seeing better bike fitness. If you’re ever down in the Peaks it’d be good to get out on a ride.
Wow! That was a video and a half! Really enjoyed that Andrew. It just goes to how how you can improve with the right coaching. We’re hoping to go down to Dyfi this year too, it looks a great place! Might even see you at Fort Bill. 🤘
Great insight, my ears pricked up even more when you mentioned Vertigo and dislodged crystals. I suffer myself with this, I've been given meds short term and the epley manoeuvre to try. Could I ask what you were told that helped you?
Think you were being a bit hard on yourself for the wee off, happens to everyone, even the professionals. The tracks look amazing, what a great day out. Must visit Wales one of these days.
@@McTrailRider he was setting up a 40ft drop gap at the time. Had tubes down the throat and up the botty a few years ago after riding incident . Decided to leave him to it.
Awesome vid Andrew. That crash at the start...🙈..was gutted for you, but its mountain biking, and lifes not perfect hey. And Gees answer about the tyres being the main culprit sounds legit. That corner looked sketchy tho. Still, you made it out in one piece, huge result, and your jumping looked on point tbf. I really hope to get to Dyfi this year. Top vid dude.....👍👍🤙
Not an ideal start to the day, looking back at it now, I think I may have gone a little too far to the inside of the turn as well. The jumps were just starting to feel real good at the end 👍
Great video - really interested in last part Andrew when you mentioned the issue with crystals in the ears and the help that you got. I have suffered with BPPV for few years now and as you say it ruins your life and some times your riding - would be great if you could share the help that they gave you
My info was that my problem was most likely in both ears and caused by a car crash I had and not in one ear caused by a burst ear drum. This is probably why the epley manoeuvre want working for me.
Very cool Andrew...looked like you had fun , and learned a bit ? I did notice you on another persons vlog as well as you on theirs..sorry mate..I strayed...Peace
The info was roughly to day that is most likely both of my ears and not just the right. The cause of my problems is most likely from a car crash I had and not from a busy ear drum. A good vestibular physician is my best bet for a remedy.
Great video as always Andrew you took the challenge and done fine would like to know what you were told about the vertigo as I have had the same problem for years .👍
The short story on the vertigo is that it’s both my ears and not just the right and that it was most likely caused by a car crash I had. Also a good vestibular physician is who I need for a proper fix.
An amazing experience, and if you’d only picked up one thing from it, clearly it would have been worth it. Would love to do something like that myself, but on a more basic level!!
@@McTrailRider yeah nerves are good and when you ride with faster riders you get faster and learn to love your videos and the scenery I come up to Scotland last year and wanted to ride but had to pass as had vertigo and did not want to risk it but will be up again but long way from Devon

@@McTrailRider i cannot imagine what it must be like in both ears ! One is bad enough. I had some success with Epley but it always comes back again
Fantastic video 👍🏻
Thanks Ross
Great video and good to see your progression on the last trail 🤘🤘
Glad it came across on the video 👍
Very cool Andrew...looked like you had fun , and learned a bit ? I did notice you on another persons vlog as well as you on theirs..sorry mate..I strayed...Peace
Definitely learned a thing or two. I’m sure there will be a few cameo’s in a few videos from this day.
pretty good video , I´d say a complete one !
Cheers
Awesome video as always Andrew, I'm curious as to what info you were given about vertigo?
The info was roughly to day that is most likely both of my ears and not just the right. The cause of my problems is most likely from a car crash I had and not from a busy ear drum. A good vestibular physician is my best bet for a remedy.
Great effort mate that took some balls
Pls pls tell me about the ear crystal therapy --long time sufferer here!
The main thing is to see a vestibular physician, but there was some info unique to me that helped too.
@@McTrailRider Thanks for feedback it’s just one ear causing my problem 👍
Looks super cool !!
Thanks Lee
An amazing experience, and if you’d only picked up one thing from it, clearly it would have been worth it.
Would love to do something like that myself, but on a more basic level!!
Any kind of improvement is very quinine, always worth the time to get some coaching.
Great video!
Thanks dude
(Croeso welcome) to Wales 🏴 👍 enjoyed the video buddy 😜👌,🚴🏿♂️
Cheers Taffy, it’s a lovely place you live in.
@@McTrailRider it not far from my place buddy glad you enjoyed your self 🚴🏿♂️😜👌
looked like you had so much fun and learned so much
Loads of fun indeed, but very nerve racking at the same time.
@@McTrailRider yeah nerves are good and when you ride with faster riders you get faster and learn to love your videos and the scenery I come up to Scotland last year and wanted to ride but had to pass as had vertigo and did not want to risk it but will be up again but long way from Devon
at 13 mins i love how grumpy dan atherton looks
