The Coney Hatch debut was phenomenal - still one of the all-time greatest Canadian HR albums. The 2 albums that followed were too AOR and lacked the killer tunes and attitude that made the 1st album so amazing. Carl has always been a first rate vocalist though.
So many great memories this brings back! My best friend and I loved this band so much. Concerts, albums and the videos! All awesome. She (Paula) is gone now but lives on through memories like these...💜
You hit it right on the head Chris. Bought their first two albums back in the day and played the hell out of them. Saw them open up for Judas Priest and they were excellent. They won over many Priest fans that night. Great songs with great production. It's absolutely criminal that they never broke the Bank. Their output was consistently excellent, and the band bristled with talent. Just listening to this song you can't help but feel good all over, it brings back the heady days of the early 80s!
I thought the same thing - I had a close friend did some touring as a drummer for Coney and they had all the elements to consistently chart and yet they seemed to fade away - it's a business.
Whenever at a house party at my friend's place in 1984, this was the album of rockers that I would pick out and play. Hooked on Coney Hatch from the first time hearing Hey Operator on the CFRA 580 AM top thirty countdown from Ottawa. Missed out the time they played my hometown of Arnprior, Ontario in 1982, 14 and gone fishing. Always a top 5 band in my space.
Don't Say Make Me and this track actually got some good air play down here in the United States, making me go out and pick up this album right away. saw them with Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, but those are more of a commercial hard rock band they held their own with a good bottom end, nice lead work etc. Kind of like commercial work from the Scorpions. Good memories and great! 🤘🐸🤘
Saw these guys open up for Maiden with Fastway in 83 as well in Minneapolis. Promptly went out and bout the vinyl of Outa Hand and have been listening to it for 37 years ever since. So great. Still have the ticket stub from that glorious day on September 14th,1983.Still one of the greatest concerts I’ve seen in my life at age 17. Will listen to and live you guys till the day I die
Damn the memories this song and this band brought back they were amazing. I played one of my old cassettes and this was on it and I couldn't stop listening over and over again
I never knew anything about this band, but I saw them in 83 open for Iron Maiden. But by the picture of the lead vocalist I could tell they were Canadian.
Told people at the Maiden concert Coney Hatch were way better than Fastway, and should have been on second. Great songwriting stands the test of time. I still listen, and recommend Coney Hatch to anyone who likes to rock.
C.D. is a high quality vocalist on par with peak-period Lou Gramm, and certainly most deserving of a high position of any sensible list of top rock vocalists, Canadian or otherwise!!
Hi Carl, I don’t know if you would remember this or not, but back in 2003 I met you at the Hardball in Milton when you were playing in April Wine and I told you that Coney Hatch was the first band I ever saw when you opened for Iron Maiden in 1983 at Canada’s Wonderland! Now it’s been another 20 years!! I saw you guys last weekend at the Sound of Music Festival in Burlington and you guys rocked!!🤘🤘
I'm not sure if you still check the comments on here, Carl, but I love this song! The vocals are great, and the guitars are killer. Melodic but still punchy, which always works for me. Any chance of getting Outta Hand and Nervous on Spotify in the US? I'd love to listen to more Coney Hatch tunes, and maybe someday find the original records.
Cheers David you can drop me a line on info@carldixon.com and we can see what we have for you. We're not big on Spotify, multiple rights owners over the years has made managing that account a bit of work.
Carl Dixon Music. I seen u guys 3 times in small venues in the Pittsburgh Pa. Area back in the 80s and you guys were always awesome!! I remember this song time for everything holding on to the number 1# song in the country for 2 weeks!! Thanks for all the great music over the years and if given the chance to see you. Live one more time I would!! Carl and band YOU GUYS ROCK!!
@@CarlDixonOfficial is it just me, its hard to see with the lighting of the video but it looked like you were sporting a "black eye" as you walked to the camera at the end. The ending confuses me a bit lol
Hi, this is Carl. Glad you like the song. The video...hahaha. Those were the days when music videos were brand new and the entry bar was set very low. The guys who scripted and produced it took the whole premise from my lyric line "Look at me; just a shadow of myself" and ran with it from there. It's like they didn't listen to the rest of the song after the first line :)

Like Dokken and their big 3, a tough choice but I go with Outa Hand.
Wish the 80s never ended :(
Благодарю, что помните и выкладываете полузабытые, но по прежнему прекрасные гр
Hard&Heavy 80
Thanks for all the great comments and memories - and yes we are still rocking this year in Sweden, Germany and Canada
Definitely a Great 👍Band, brings 👌back many memories
What a great Canadian band
I love the way the song slowly builds up and draws one in. The vocals are so good. I love the way this band put together such a magnificent sound.

It still amazes me that these guys never got as big as they should have. Great band and Carl such an amazing voice.

It's really AMAZING how this band was not HUGE... really... they had and still have it ALL. They have ONLY gotten better and better. LOVE Coney Hatch!

I hadn’t heard this in years. Had nearly forgotten it. From the opening guitar it took me back to 10Th grade. So many years ago.

Reminds me of the sound of Rainbow
I'll take that as a compliment for sure
Sounds like April Wine, too.

Who was Andy curran`s first band-- Anybody know.
