After the Lizard League tries to destroy the united states we saw as the Guardians responded and Komodo Dragon actually picked apart every single Duplikate, leaving the entire team to believe that Kate was actually dead and gone, however one day when The Immortal is in the Swiss Alps having just finished some Ice Fishing to collect his meals for the day, he enters his cabin and is SHOCKED, as before him stands a single Dupli-kate, with the number 1 on her outfit. Kate apologizes, saying that she never told anyone about this, but that she specifically wants to apologize to The Immortal for keeping this a secret. According to Kate, she had a close call once and that made her realize that she wants to always be able to live a normal life through atleast ONE of her copies, so she sent a copy far away from the US to life a happy life for her, but this would also mean that no matter what happens in any single battle, as long as the world itself isn’t destroyed, there will always be another Duplikate. This means that Kate pretty much eventually becomes Immortal in the Invincible series, since there’s no actual way to get rid of her other than waiting for her to die of old age, but I think it’s really interesting to have two characters who are immortal in different ways, in a relationship like these two.

Yeah we called it. Girl was way too chill about dying at least 100 times in the matter of a few hours.
I mean each clone was capable of independent thought, she wasn’t literally experiencing dying and getting rebirthed. It would still be pretty hard to get used to seeing a bunch of dead versions of yourself though and also the fact that each one can think independently so it’s like, youre sending sentient individuals to their death. It’s all fucked up lol but it’s not THAT bad, she would’ve lost her mind a long time ago if she actually remembered/experienced each time a clone died, shit even just the information dump alone from being “conscious” in a bunch of different bodies would be too much for a humans brain.

What sucks about Kate’s powers is she actually experiences every single death her copies go through. She’s died countless ways and lives with those memories and trauma daily.
After a while itd stop being traumatic. Youd get used to it, like a boxer gets used to being punched.

While she can still age, I suppose they could get around this by having "zero" in suspended animation of some kind, so there's always a backup that's locked to her prime.

She could also trick old age, as long as she kept a single clone in stasis/cryo sleep.
When her other variants who live a normal life are all dying of old age, they could just thaw out her young version and repeat the process for millennia.

@@asuraXTCthat technology may not have been shown, but I don't remember there ever being anything that would prevent such a technology or at least one like it from existing. This is literally a universe with an intelligent humanoid dinosaur. A concept like suspended animation, which is hypothetically possible in the real world (just not through freezing), is not beyond the stretch of the imagination in a scifi reality.

Neither, she's very mortal and very killable, she just had redundancy, and frankly not enough of it. 1 backup is subject to accidents, misfortune or just been found. She should really have a few dozen, spread far and wide.
Even for battles she should have a few dozen that don't actually enter the fight, but exist to just let her spam more of herself into the fight. Her superpower in combat is basically to be ablative meat armour afterall, so its best to just spam thousands of copies into a fight asap.
A thought on that, as her copies come filly dressed, what's to stop her from spamming copies with gear, or just explosive vests, she is the human suicide machine afterall, she may aswell explode when she does it
No, it's possible to kill every copy of her and she'd be gone. She is just wise enough to keep one version of her far, FAR away from any danger.

Honestly if I had duplikate’s power you’d almost never see #1 I’d always have like 1 or 2 of my clones working on stuff while I was at the hero business. Maybe I’d send multiple clones to different colleges and learn a bunch of stuff and become an engineer or something developing tech while also saving the day idk but it really feels like the writers really underutilize her power which feels broken and unstoppable
Depends though the clones are also you, maybe they would want to be the one sitting around for once
Just a quick thought, If you never see the #1 then the villains trying to kill you always know that they are missing 1. If you put the uniform with the number 1 on it on clone number 101. Then the original could be overlooked by anyone trying to "kill them all."
I'd 100% make use of my country's cheap Uni to learn multiple skills and work multiple jobs.
Yeah her abilities could be used to become a very skilled killer, always having clones training in different martial arts and weapon's training and life survival while her clones at HQ is constantly getting more skilled from them, as well as multiple out making a fortune of wealth even whilst she plays a hero. She would become older than even Immortal in terms of life experience from this. So what she lacks in physical powers she would easily make up for.
You could also try to pass the Mage exam and impress Serie despite your prime body not being there. Oh, wait. Wrong animè

I really like the idea that one of her doubles gets to go out and live a normal life. I wonder if Cecil or even Mark's Viltrum empire further into the story would allow her to come up wkth a suspended animation scheme that could make her functionally immortal. She may not be immortal by default since she would inevitably die of old age, but there are definitely hacks around that which the Viltrumites especially could totally help her out with. There's absolutely no reason that the Immortal would have to go nuts from isolation and loneliness after Kate dies either in the future or some possible alternate future Mark went to.
Mauler twins could probably help her out iirc they start helping civilians in the comics.
The viltrimites would just kill her for being "weak"

The reason they related to each other so much is because they’re the only people they know that have actually experienced death multiple times.
I used to wonder why she seemed so content with dying all the time. She always came super close but was still relentless in her attacks. I really admired that she never seemed to give up. I just chalked it up as despite her being young, she really has the good resolve to put her life on the line. But i dont think less of her for having a spare her.

@@necroleis Oh yeah, it’s a genius strategy, since she still gets to experience life while being perfectly safe (again, so long as no one finds her original body) but it’s not immortality, nor does it make her ‘unkillable’ like other comments think. Just extremely crafty.
I wonder if in realities where Invincible went evil and conquered if she just took off the costume, locked her original self in a bunker, and blended in with the rest of the civilians.

It's interesting because in the last episode of season 2, she has a zero on her costume instead of 1 like in the comics. I wonder if that was an oversight or done intentionally.

I think Marvel has a guy like that named Multiman. He's kind of Duplikate, but also like Naruto's clone jutsu. Multiman's clones can live separate lives, but also absorb back into him with their experiences. I think he's effectively immortal.

But it doesn't. There's multiple different types of immortality. For example not being able to be killed is immortality. Not aging is a kind of immortality and there's even more types of immortality.

My theory is that the numbers on the suit say which copy of dublicate we see. The 1 means she’s the first copy, and not the original (I suppose the original has the number 0). So that would mean, all the dublicates we thought were the original were actually the first copy and the duplicate we see in the fishing house with immortal is again another copy and her secret back-up place with the original will probably never get shown.
