I grew up on Rod Steward...my Mom and Aunt are superfans. As an adult, I totally have grown to appreciate his music. Fellow Patrons...we def need to request more Rod Steward reactions for Empress in the future!
I heard this song when I was in 7th grade. I'm 56 now,,I liked it when I first listened to it but definitely didn't get the emotion of the lyrics in that time in life. Then maybe 4 years later I got it and.lived it lol. Real experiences are what make great stories for music.
Legend Rod Stewart! This song is such a great example of how a love song can be complex and even toxic, just like love itself. I really respect it when songwriters take a genre into fresher territory and explore difficult subjects. And Rod’s delivery is always as textured as the material! He has a really endearing long standing friendship with Elton John, where they prank each other constantly. It all started in the 70s when they were both megastars in competition in the charts. It’s very laddy and mischievous.
Not really a love song though, it is about a 32 year old woman taking advantage of 15 year old boy (Rod Stewart) who was a virgin. That's the true story behind this song.
@@garrymcdonald5456 Not a healthy love song, but I don’t know about you, but I haven’t always had healthy loves. I could sing a love song about several people who have treated me badly, because they were part of my journey in understanding what love is to me. Perhaps there was love of a warped kind in this situation, perhaps not. The song is more contemplative than moralising or rageful, more positioned in complexity, even if it does describe an ill-advised and illegal situation. Every human situation is valuable material for art.
Classic! "Maggie May" was the lead single off the Rod Stewart's third studio album "Every Picture Tells a Story" from 1971. Dig that rockin' mandolin! For more fire from him check out his cover of "(I Know) I'm Losing You" from that same album.
Memories! Yeah, his voice is great! He also has a few good disco-style tunes too. He was one of the few artists who could adapt to the changing eras of music without sounding inauthentic. \
It's Mrs. Robinson you're thinking of, from The Graduate. Coincidentally, Simon and Garfunkel have a song named Mrs. Robinson. Just thought I'd mention it.
In the early 90s, he did a great collaboration with both Bryan Adams and Sting, "All For Love", which was originally featured on the soundtrack for the film "The Three Musketeers".

This song is from an album called "every picture tells a story". One the great albums of all time, all recorded live and raw. You should listen to it. Every song is amazing. The guitarist Ron Wood then joined the Rolling Stones and has been there for over 40 years. Rod went on to become a boring crooner of top 40 pop songs.
@Empress , LOve Rod he's a legend , you should watch his collaboration with American Rapper A$AP ROCKY you'll like it . A$AP ROCKY ft ROD STEWART - EVERYDAY .

.... seduced by an older married woman, Mrs. Robinson (Anne Bancroft)... what a fabulous film, it ages well

I'm down for it 😎
This was my pick 👍🏻 I grew up on Rod Stewart too. Saw him a few years ago on tour with Stevie Nicks.
It was only about 10 hrs ago that I could listen to this song without crying. 💔
"Mrs Robinson, are you trying to seduce me?"
🤣right
Another great song choice!

Love Rod Stewart! I have enjoyed the sound of his voice since his Downtown Train song in the 80s.
One of the best concerts I have ever seen.

Wow! He did disco‼
"Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" (1978) was a disco hit here and abroad. It may have been his only one, but it was good. :)
Mrs. Robinson!
I've said it before, but you barely need one listen before you've got the lyrics, melody and understand the nuances.
