    What you might not know is that an iPad or tablet can be more than just a giant phone screen to watch RUclips videos, and send emails. There is a world of really cool features people might not know that their iPad can do. Well, I’m here to talk about some of those super cool features.
    These are features I found useful that I’d love to let more people know about. But at the same time, a few might be pretty obvious or cater to more casual ipad folks and some might be a bit more techy or niche. So I’m going to organize these features in order of how easy it would be for a regular everyday person to set up and use. Are these tips helpful, do you have any additional tips that you found useful that I missed? Leave all that down in the comment section below and I’ll see you all next time!

    I own an M1 iPad Pro and MacBook Pro. Take them both with me when I travel, even overseas. Why? The iPad isn't close to a good laptop replacement yet. I wish it were. For one, it's really poor at multi-tasking. An unrelated, recent anecdote....Was overseas wanting to watch the NHL and NBA playoffs. Tried streaming with the iPad.....all the apps were blocked, even with me using my VPN. Ok, no problem I thought. I'll just use the browser, since the app can see i'm using a VPN..... No luck...no matter which browser I used, I still could not stream ANY of the NBA or NHL playoff games with my iPad Pro. Using the same VPN on my MacBook Pro I had zero issues, and could stream both sports without any problems whatsoever. Had I just brought my iPad with me on vacation, I would've missed the games. Before you say I shouldn't be watching games on vacation...the time difference had the games on well past any time it would be possible to do anything outside anyway, so I missed nothing. Bottom line...until Apple puts MacOs on iPads, they're still just glorified consumption devices.

    • @tommyg4334
      @tommyg4334 Месяц назад

      @@anthonyfeghali822 yes, I did try to use the desktop version of the site through the browser. Still no luck. I tried with Safari, Chrome, and Firefox. In every case the site was able to see I was using a VPN and blocked my access on the iPad. I use ExpressVPN, btw. It's the same problem you'd run into using your iPhone, unfortunately. For whatever reason, using my MacBook Pro I was able to stream using both Safari and Chrome browsers without any issues. Hooked it up to the TV, and was able to watch.

    iPad is my favorite piece of tech ever. I’ve been trying to find an affordable way to connect to my MBP. The tip about Jump Desktop could be a huge leap forward for me. Thank you! There are things the MBP can just do. Things like being able to run Blender. I have zero minutes to give to learning a new 3d app. There’s also After Effects and Resolve stuff I just need. But I also need to draw when the ADD kicks in.

    Loved your video Jimmy. You gave me some very good tips. My 13 year old MacBook Air recently “passed on to a place of no return”, sadly, & I am tossing up whether I replace it &, now with the release of the iPad Pro M4, WHAT to replace it with. I have the M2 iPad Pro & just love……. It but I find there are still limitations to what I can do on it. For instance, a couple of months ago, in the heat of summer (Aust), I sought refuge in a cooler location to do some work on our website only to find that I wasn’t able to save the changes (I guess you could call it, use all the features) I was making. I was on Siteground, which by the way is a sensational web hosting platform so it wasn’t their shortcoming. I’d be interested in your feedback on this. Anyway, the choice I have is, keep my M2 iPad Pro & upgrade laptop to a current MacBook Air or, go totally iPad & upgrade to iPad Pro M4. Thanks for listening. C

      you can print to PDF in many ways the quickest is through the share menu, even in the native notes app, In notes:
      Tap the share button > print > tap the share button again in the print menu > when the share options come up it will have converted your notes to a pdf file and you can email it to yourself, save it to the files app/icloud/Gdrive on your iPad
      If you open a word document in the files app you can convert to pdf in the same way as above

    if I was able to run Mac apps on the iPad then I would use an iPad.
    The iPad has powerful enough hardware to run Mac apps but Apple just won't allow it. I mean seriously the m4 chip was launched with the iPad before we even saw it in a Mac. So until launched with the iPad before we even saw it in a Mac. So until Apple decides to change that I won't be getting an iPad.

      I'd be happy with iPadOS actually being a standalone OS like they said it would be when they put that name in the mix instead of running directly iOS on iPads. Instead, we are still running an upscaled iOS flipped in landscape and we can't even run .dmg files so we are still stuck with what the App Store has to offer... which isn't much given the iPad is not a huge product and the App Store has a few "quirks" not entirely developer-friendly (like no beta testing, biblical times to market, taking a cut of your in-app sales and so on)

    • @ngweso
      @ngweso Месяц назад +1

      @@nickthaskater most of those 2-in-1/convertible laptops like the surface are (a generalization here) shit, because of the heavy compromise in quality that’s made on both sides in order to accommodate those types of features. That’s why people end up going for laptops instead, and the market still exists.
      Apple is obviously very different because the iPad is literally the best engineered tablet on the planet. The IPad is no-longer limited by hardware, and if you give it a MacBooks software, the difference between the two performance wise is minor

    • @nickthaskater
      @nickthaskater Месяц назад

      @@jack_2612 you know what would be a really easy fix to that without needing to reinvent the wheel? Allowing mac OS to run on the iPad. There's no technical reason why it can't and it would address all the issues you flag.
