I'm glad others are saying it because I felt I might be alone in saying that was the best game I've seen all year. The stakes were soo high and stars on both teams delivered.
Before the game I just had a feeling this would be the toughest game that USA would face, even more than the gold medal game. It’s hard beating a team 3 times in a row, especially a team that just didn’t shoot good and got off to great starts in the past 2 meetings. I knew Serbia would come in with a “nothing to lose” attitude and that they believed they could win. That was one of the greatest basketball moments I ever witnessed, watching legends come together, especially Bron Steph and KD and including the coaches and they all showed emotion showing that this mattered to them. Proud of my team - Pesic almost made the impossible again like in 2002 - a bitter aftertaste. I know talking about refs is loser talk - but guess what: Serbia lost. Such a pity - so close but no cigar. But so much for the 92 comparison - there is none!
This US team is possibly as good as the 92 team, but the world is DIFFERENT. These Int'l teams play good ball, and they are neither scared or in awe like the '92 competition was.
This team may be quite a bit better than the ORIGINAL 1992 Dream Team in a vacuum but, you’re right, there is no comparison in terms of dominance the Dream Team was over the rest of the competition at the time. NOT EVEN CLOSE!
Pesos forgot the PG to the bench in the 4th when you could score. The refs were pro-US visibly (flagrant an and calls not given). Great game overall though. Makes you wonder if the dream team would have won against Yugoslavia in 92.
I was at this game with my brother and my goodness were we and every US fan stressing lol great thing will power took over and we pulled it out 💪🏼 it was a team effort and I think this woke up our team. They’ll be ready when they face France. Go USA!

This is everyone’s team. No brings up the 92 team, but they remain the gold standard. This team is talented, but the do not play hard for four quarters. The 92 team played like desperate maniacs for every minute of the game. This current team is talented but they are extremely lazy on defense.
I’m from the US but Dražen Petrović was better than Luka and Sabonis was better than Jokic. Anyway, 92 took everyone seriously and wanted to show and prove. They are the standard for a reason. When folks start crying about how they are tired of the comparisons to the Dream Team, you know that you don’t measure up.

USA is strong enough having also the refs help is not a great look, some bs calls against Serbia and some clear travels that directly gave points for USA went uncalled. Without Lebron, Curry and Durant i don't see a bright future for team USA in international competition.
As a Sixer fan, we have seen Joel go hard. I am not upset when he doesn't because a lot of the times when he truly goes hard is when he gets injured. Joel looks really coordinated when he makes dribble and post moves but when he has to make athletic moves, he is actually very clumsy. People say he gets hurt because he is out of shape which just isn't true. He is only truly out of shape following an injury in which he couldn't workout during the injury. Blah Blah Blah, it sounds like excuses but Sixers fans know. He is clumsy and not very coordinated and when he goes hard he over does it and gets hurt. He always ends up on the floor when he makes an athletic block. He falls on athletic dunsk. He isn't very coordinated. He moves like a guy who got big before he mastered moving.
You forgot the Bosnian ref as well - I bet he has fond memories of Srebrenica ... Example: Wow come when KD hit the ball away from Bogi it was called ball for US? With SRB being 2 down - that made it later to be 4 instead of possession for SRB. These calls matter as well. How come when the US bench jump on the court (yes, not only 1 player - including KD) in the first quarter after Steph scored - shaking hands - no tech? amateur refs ... noting new - winner writes history and the rest is forgotten
@@BucoDthe Serbian coach got into the court *too much*, even during live play... It's crazy that he was allowed to do what he did. At one point, he almost tripped a ref.
It was great seeing Lebron, KD, and Steph all playing intense, high stakes basketball. Unfortunately, they won't be doing so this upcoming NBA season because their teams aren't good enough to make a playoff run
Mailbag: With this being Lebron, Steph and KD's last dance, and the insane growth of the international player base, do you think future Olympic games will be more up for grabs? Outside of Embiid who is actually an international player, there won't be a single MVP candidate left on the US roster.
Idk ant could win mvp at some point and if the celtics have just a good a year or better and Tatum gets close to 30ppg again with prozingas out probably the first half of the year he could potentially win one next year.
Given the improvement of other international teams and players,I am genuinely worried about the USA's dominance and chance of winning international tournaments especially given the gap between the outgoing legends LeBron,KD,Curry and the current Us stars. Some games like this one have to be won by a combination of greatness and fear by the opponents which guys like LeBron still command in opponents and I don't see the next crop having the fear factor about them
I remember the gold medal game from ‘08 when Kobe went off at the end, but this game was somehow so much better!! Maybe because we were down and had to comeback, but my God what a game!
If Lebron had the game Steph did, you would he absolutely losing your mind Instead you just coupled Stephs performance in with lebrons . This was one the greatest if not the greatest games by a USA basketball player given the stakes and situation of the game. They would have got beat if it weren’t for Steph
Bro Lebron had a triple double and played great defense on joker in the 4th , curry was the Gunner but Lebron controlled the show . It was a combined effort
Curry 3 point shooting flat out saved USA from what could easily have been an embarrasing 25 point decifit at half time. Not to mention some refs help because you know USA need that too.
Great assessment, Somebody gave a blueprint on how to beat Team USA, Serbia almost followed thru on that they were on fire from 3 point range. Jokic is the best player of course but his teammates stepped up big time. I knew team USA would comeback to win because they win by 20 usually. Incredible comeback because the Olympic time clock is shorter each quarter. Very impressive on that comeback win.💯🔥
I am French. And yesterday was one of the best basketball day of my life. Between France Germany which was a beautiful ugly game. And that crazy Serbia USA (was rooting for USA) Between these 2 crunch times I've lost 10years of my life but that was worth it. Really excited to meet this USA "Avengers" team in the final. I hope my French team is gonna be able to make it a game the way Serbia did and I'll live with the result. I am not delusional USA is HEAVY favourite to win it all, but I am so happy to have them as our opponent (if we imagine a parallel universe where it's France/Serbia in the final and France win, it would have feel kind of undeserved). Thanks to my French team (players and coaches) to have been able to have such a huge turn around after the groups. I am really happy for them to be able to play that final at home against a legendary team.
Jokic played good what? He underperformed, while everyone else in Serbia overperformed. 0/6 three pointers, 5 rebounds (less than half his average before the game), scored 2 points vs Embiid. Was non-existent vs Embiid attacking, looked like a shadow. His stats will look good with 11 assists because everyone in his team was hitting 3s like crazy, but Serbia ultimately lost because Jokic played bad (for his standards). The whole Serbian team was working to give him mismatches offensively in the 4th quarter, but it wasn't enough.
He shot several three pointers because he was given the hot potato at the last seconds of several offensive possessions. Without Jokić Serbia would have lost by 30+. All the other players on that Serbian team were able to play well because of Jokić. Jokić run the offense while also being a threat to score. Mićić underperformed. Bogdanović neither over performed nor underperformed. Milutinov underperformed. Avramović over performed but was then benched in the 4th quarter for unknown reasons. The lack of intensity and focus on the defensive side of the court in the 4th quarter as well as losing cool headedness on offense in the last couple of minutes cost Serbia victory.
the reason they lost was cause jokic barely touched the ball down the stretch, the only reason serbia had so many good looks from 3 is because jokic was doubled every possession and he made the right pass every single time, he was also good on defense for the most part until he got in foul trouble cause of two iffy calls, he just wasn't particularly aggressive, but again he didn't even have the ball that much

That game was truly amazing man. I’m so glad I witnessed thaf

Jokic clears Giannis and Giannis hasn't been the best since over 4 years ago. Its been 4 years. Get over it lol
You’re crazy if you think joker wasn’t controlling the game for the most part. Stop box score watching
the reason they lost was cause jokic barely touched the ball down the stretch, the only reason serbia had so many good looks from 3 is because jokic was doubled every possession and he made the right pass every single time, he was also good on defense for the most part until he got in foul trouble cause of two iffy calls, he just wasn't particularly aggressive, but again he didn't even have the ball that much
@bobbitsc7539 They lost because the superior team won in the end. Fantastic effort by Serbia though.
As a Bron, Steph, KD fan: it was an amazing moment. Good call, brother! Embiid was Embiid today!
