im literally studying for the open water scuba certificate and they specifically explain that until you have checked you must assume anyone who seems unconciuos actually is and you need to take immediate action to save them

That's what I'm saying! It's crazy. Some cast members seem a little weird to pair with each other. They'll like have fun of whatever but it's just not the same vibes but Angela? Angela not only has amazing vibes with every cast member but also the reserve cast, (Tommy, Spencer, Garrett), the now semi-rare casts (Olivia and Keith. In fact she somehow made Keith more likeable to me) and even the old cast/crew who left before she even started (Sarah Whittle/Mari)

For the floating water one, I’m a trained lifeguard and I did that for 3 years, I think that yes for sure you call out first and if you receive no response you go in, when drowning is concerned time and quick respond are key to both saving the persons life and preventing brain damage
You also shouldn’t go in if you aren’t traiend. People die trying to save people when they aren’t trained
Yes! Both of these are so important! Also, drowning is often quiet and difficult to spot. If you're untrained and without a floatation device then you can be easily drowned by the person you're trying to save panicking and climbing or clinging on you to get out of the water.
But the guys should've had a dive marker up! They probably didn't have one and went, "Well, there's nobody here... It's fiiiine." Nope, mark your dive spot!

42:14 to clarify the diving story: he had gear on and was floating with his face DOWN, watching the trainees do their drills underwater because he was the instructor. He was watching them but it would take a lot of effort to swim down with them to just observe because you automatically float so he just was watching with his face underwater. He probably wouldn't hear you. He wouldn't have been able to see them if he watched from above the water.

I once laughed so hard that my laugh turned into hyperventilating, then a panic attack within the span of like 3 to 5 minutes. While all this is happening, my family just stared at me hard-core, which then made me cry more and panic more. Then it turned into a heartfelt talk with my parents about my mental health and how bad it was. It made me so embarrassed the next day 😅
I have asthma and have told my friends to stop making me laugh before because I can feel an attack coming on 😂😂😂. Im blessed to be around people so funny they could kill me.
Rats will 100% chew through plastic to get to food. They've done it three times with the dog food in my garage, despite me storing the dog food in increasingly high-security containers. :)

I think that OP in the fifth story disrupting the drill is a good thing, as in - she added a variable of chaos. A lot can happen during underwater operation, including a civilian showing up unexpectedly.
Also angela is right - there were no warnings about the drill. It's on the military.
During the pandemic, my friends and I zoomed pretty frequently and would collectively have the most unhinged backgrounds. One day we set our backgrounds as our celebrity crush and my friend put Hugh Jackman as her background. The next zoom we had, she informed us that she had a virtual interview and she entered the meeting with Hugh Jackman as her background because she forgot about it. The interviewer thankfully found it hilarious and she got the job.
Secondhand embarrassment is probably what affects me the most. Seeing people pushing through something incredibly shameful is so mortifying for me.
As an asthmatic can confirm, haven’t laughed in almost 10 years. Could be the depression, but I’m pretty sure it’s the asthma.

So for the drowning one actually someone face up, quiet, treading water, can indicate the first stage of drowning. Most people do not do it like in the movies, all splashing and screaming. It's very important to be aware of these things, especially since Shayne drowned as a kid! PSA everyone, look up the stages of drowning and the correct actions you can take to help.

Yes that's true but I'm also pretty sure he was facing down watching the trainees do their drills or whatever underwater. She said a bunch of guys came up to the surface after and she didn't see them before so they were probably doing a test under the water and the instructor, to be able to get a good visual of them, had his head underwater to watch. It would be really really hard to see them if he was looking down from above the water, especially in a lake where the water isn't clear.

Lmao regarding the retail workers offering help, here's a tip to workers who want to offer help to ppl who clearly need it but might be too nervous to go through with it - I used to work at a bookstore where customers can be very self-reliant and shy, so I normally didn't like approaching them while they were browsing. However, whenever it did seem like they needed help, I was told to ask them "what are you looking for?" instead of "do you need help?" because the automatic response of "no, I'm good!" doesn't come as easily with the first option. Helped me get a bunch of customers feel comfortable sharing what they're looking for with me :>

You get to a point where you can spot the people who genuinely do need help, so when I offer, and they refuse it, I'll hover just out of eye line for a few seconds waiting for the ".... actually" from them. Happens probably 70% of the time

I have severe chronic asthma and I cannot tell you how many times asthma attacks have been started or made worse from laughing LOL anytime I'm sick with chest congestion or my allergies are out of control, there are days where I just have to tell people not to make me laugh. It is...not the best.
I have relatively mild asthma, but nothing causes me worry quite like laughing my ass off at something, the laughs turning into coughs almost immediately, and then starting to get light-headed from laughing/coughing too much. I've passed out several times from it, which is definitely not fun. And I've come super close to passing out at least half a dozen more times.

@@allisoncastle I have more than one core childhood memory involving another child in my life finding out about their own ability to contribute to someone's death because of asthma induced by TICKLING. And often after already having been told to not tickle me (why is tickling even a thing with kids?). The worst happened in a moving minivan full of kids with my mom driving. I can still feel EVERYONE'S panic and still taste the albuterol from my big sister shoving an inhaler in my mouth and just pushing for another dose over and over again in the hopes it would get to my airways.
And, yeah, as a teen and young adult there was always That One Person that thought the warning didn't apply to him or it was an over exaggeration- thankfully as an adult I got pretty good at removing myself from those situations and people.
@@allisoncastle there were some people who I dealt with who got some weird ego stroke out of making me laugh when they were told not to and it was dangerous to do so, but once the portable nebulizer had to come out, which it always did, they stopped and took things a bit more seriously.

I once started laughing so hard I couldn't breathe, it turned into a panic attack, and the look on my friends faces while they slowly realized my tears had turned from joy to panic? Chefs kiss. I've always just been scared to pee my pants from laughter, until that day, when dying laughing became real.
