I bet she was raised rich whilst he probably had some sort of food insecurity and/or raised in a family that used up all of the leftovers. Because I seriously can't find a valid reason for Half a roast equalling to 'table scraps'.
It would be mind boggling if that's what they did, but it isn't. Half was left, and they took a quarter, so that's an eighth of the roast, and they ate half just the two of them, so that really isn't much. She should have asked first but he's a weirdo.
Finally!!!! I was waiting for someone to comment on this!!!! They were so good at the impression I almost thought they added some kind of cat noises to the convo, lol.
I mean, people can be many things lol Why do yall always have to label everything? Like you think people can only be one thing. There is no gray area, everything is always black and white with you people.
I've been around all my young nieces and nephews, and of course a lot of puppies because of work. I do this ALL the time and never realized until my boss joked about it. Worked out tho, since me doing it influenced her and my coworkers 😂
Omg, you've talked to adults in baby talk before that they're relieved you channel it onto your dog? Like, I can do weird things too but I do not understand what makes an adult talk baby talk to other adults.
13:24 Courtney saying, "WE have art". Implying the way Shayne and her decorate their place😭🥹 WHY DIDNT I CATCH THIS BEFORE!!! Congrats to the newlyweds!!!!🎉❤
When OP said cat obsession, I thought he meant his girlfriend had 20 cats and an excessive amount of cat decor. She doesn't though. She has one cat. They've been together for 10 years. He described a perfect normal pet relationship. The cat is a part of the family. I work with cats through my job and have met cat obsessive people who are genuinely obsessed with their cats. His girlfriend is definitely not one of those people. Putting my pet with the luggage would also be a big no for me, regardless if they're elderly or not. Pets have died in there.
I havent had my cat a year yet, haven't travelled with him either and the idea of cat with luggage is absolutely crazy. Living thing, fragile thing. it's like putting a toddler with the luggage. Yes cats are more capable and independent than a toddler but it's a tiny living thing wtf how could u put it with LUGGAGE
Also him not understanding that a 10 year old cat *is* a geriatric cat and that stress can kill them at that age is a HUGE red flag. My cat is 15 and if anything happened to him I’d be crushed. We got him when I was 8 and he’s part of the family.
@@alisharahman2709 i recently moved with my cat from the bay area to DC and back for a summer internship and let me tell you: flying with pets is EXPENSIVE. My ticket was like $150-175 one-way. To get my cat one-way was >$300 after getting them screened by a vet, their ticket, the cost to bring them as carry-on baggage (despite the pet already having their own ticket...) and all the specific equipment the airlines require to bring them with you into the cabin (such as a specific type of carrier and clip-on food/water bowl for the carrier). My cat did surprisingly well with me in the cabin. However, I originally was planning to put him in cargo because 1) domestic flights are MUCH safer for pets than international flights, 2) i did my research and made sure my airline was safe, 3) my travel time was relatively short and 4) he is very loud and i was concerned about how that would impact the other passengers also 5) cargo is significantly less expensive than cabin. Ultimately I think pet owners that have invested that much time, effort, and money to figure out all of these obscure details clearly care about their pets and should be given some grace because we don't know their full situation such as how their pet behaves when travelling, or the options they actually have.
People will label like anyone that owns a cat as a crazy cat person lol I don’t understand why only cat people get labeled crazy cause pet owners in general will do some cringe shit with their pets it’s not cat exclusive
@@ettinakitten5047literally my first thought. No one bats an eye if a dog sleeps in your bed, eats at the same time as you, goes for walks, etc. But because it's with a cat now it's weird?
@@Hannahgs It’s the same with many many other things too. Racial, cultural, etc. and I bet everyone commenting is guilty of doing the same exact thing, just a different topic. Just giving a different perspective. This happens with all topics, not just people with cats. Like a stereotype..
Shayne bringing up the fact that many people inadvertently connect physically unattractive traits to conventionally awful people, was so unexpected and heartwarming. We need to deconstruct this way of thinking and just learn to say when people are ugly in the hearts than anywhere else that doesn’t matter
Yeah, and that kind of sentiment is so common too! Like I see the "this is how you age when you're unproblematic" statement about young-looking celebrities all the time, and I understand that it's supposed to be lighthearted, but I just don't think that connecting wrinkles and other signs of physical aging to being a bad person is a good idea. People "age well" because of genetics and because they're rich enough to afford cosmetic procedures and expensive skincare, not because they're "unproblematic".
@@Gya..That's pretty valid since those kinds of criticisms are 1. things they can control 2. their choice (read: fault) If your hair is thinning and you try to bleach it platinum, the result is on you and fair game. For the third story with the dog and table scraps, the fact that in THE SIMS when you are a guest at someone else's house, they get upset when you go through their refrigerator and tell you how wrong it is 🤣
Yooooo that shit was crazyyyyy!!! I canNOT believe she just took half of a fkn roast and fed it to her dog w/out asking her bf, just thought it was fine. Like who thinks like that?!?! That’s so much money you’re taking for dog food and a waste especially that could be a few days of meals
I loved Shayne’s Dorian Grey joke but what made me laugh the hardest was that I knew immediately it was gonna bomb. Plus the threat not to include Angela in the next snipper chess was perfect.
7yrs in a relationship, me and my boyfriend still ask each other before taking anything off of each other's plates. Not about being greedy with the food but about the respect to ask before taking.
Same 3yrs in and we still ask, and we’re long distance so when we’re at each other’s places we ask if we can have things from the other’s pantry/fridge
5 years here and we both still ask the other if they want the last of anything in the fridge and never take off each others plate unless the other offers. We both feel it's rude, so definitely relate
Something I noticed watching this is just how intently Courtney listens to people. You can tell that they are just so genuinely invested in everything being said and listening to all sides. Another reason added to the list of why I adore them!
Same! I thought it was a great joke and I understood it even before he had to explain it lol. His having to explain it was kind of rough. Dorian Grey is a well-known story I was surprised at Courtney and Angela's response
In the words of Tommy, Shayne’s “a big, big guy who reads, and Tommy’s a big, stupid idiot who hasn’t picked up a book in a literal decade. He actually wrote that”
Can't get over Shayne clapping back at Angela, with denying her a spot at the next Sniper Chess. Only for her to reply with genuine fear and anger "Hey! Don't joke like that!"
Tbf, her initial reaction was basically a "Lmao who asked" kind of deal that adds nothing and only serves to diminish his joke. The clapback was more than deserved.
Okay but WOAH at around 48:30 Courtney's impression of an incredibly upset cat is insanely good. Someone get her on Make Some Noise. Honestly, I just wanna see everyone on the smosh cast on different dropout shows.
If she's making size jokes about her boyfriend in front of him and a bunch of strangers, I can't imagine the kind of jokes she's making about him behind his back to her friends.
There's a part of me that thought maybe in front of strangers you won't see again was the best place, but they had friends on the cruise she ended up staying with, so it was really the worst of both worlds.
I didn't even think about that, but yeah. If she'll say this in front of all these people who they're stuck with for the remainder of the cruise. Then what is she saying to her friends/family in private? Just so damn gross.
for some reason the name ‘Mary-Kate’ icks me, similar to the character “anna-kat” in one of the older sitcom family shows that resurfaced (and is mostly covered of family abuse)
Shayne is the only one who should read reddits. The delivery is always amazing. But the input, jokes, thoughts from Angela and Courtney are also critical.
He was JEALOUS of a cat, and rather than admit to that, he tried to frame it as a problem SHE had. And she literally said the cat was her lifeline during darker days, which he dismissed. She gave a boundary he couldn't respect and gave her an ultimatum. Glad she stuck to her boundary.
I worked as a Butler for a mega-wealthy couple. She had just written a book about empowering women to use their 'feminine force'. She had a highly over-bred small dog who didn't thrive because of her regular long term travel. So we, the two Butlers, had to keep the dog happy and healthy. The senior Butler warned me to not get too close to the dog because if the dog had any preference for either of us, we'd be fired. This famous woman was promoting women's strength and power while being jealous of her dog's affections!
Some people genuinely develop unhealthy bonds with their pets though. But I'm pretty sure that has something to do with personality traits/disorders and anxiety, rather than it being exclusively related to pets.
@@leefi1bro the fucking upper classes are literally not in reality. @@i.shuuya3231 So curious to know what a "unhealty bond with their pets" is to you, tho. because if the problem is that you want to be treated like the pet because you feel like i might love it more than you, you're gone from my life faster thhan the 10 seconds it took you to read this-
I bet you ANYTHING that the “table scraps” couple come from two different socioeconomic backgrounds. If he’s ever experienced food insecurity, that would explain how upset he got over the situation. And if she grew up in a family who could afford to just throw out leftovers (that hurts me to think about haha) it would partially explain why she thought that was okay and not a big deal.
It reminds me of how there are stories about people who come over for a huge dinner and take all the leftovers home without asking and sometimes when people haven't even finished eating. At the end of the day leftovers belong to the person who made the food, unless they offer them up.
I could definitely see that. But like they were saying, it'd be one thing if it was off her plate. A quarter of a roast is not "table scraps". And she just went into the fridge to get veggies for her dog too? Without asking? Imo, that's pretty inconsiderate.
@@TheDonkeyJote Crazy to me because if I was dating someone and we made our roast together, even a venison roast I hunted, and they gave it to their dog i'd find it SO endearing and wholesome and amazing as long as we enjoyed our meal. I felt like it was a fever dream that everyone seemed to agree she was the asshole, but it was her portion.... so if she would have just eaten it all herself she was totally fine, like if she had decided to eat that much roast suddenly she's not an asshole? Idk man.
when I ate a meal at one of my parents' friends' house and they threw away the leftovers afterwards, I was so shocked. my family is upper middle class and we live comfortably and we only ever throw out leftovers if they're moldy. it still blows my mind trying to imagine throwing out leftovers for no reason.
21:04 to be fair, he DID wrap it up in foil so he was still letting Shelby have it, he just wanted her out. He wasn’t going to sit there and endure it which is fair. Honestly he was super chill.
About the "table scraps" story, I've experienced a lot of food scarcity in my life and that behavior would literally give me an anxiety attack. I had to work with a therapist to gain the ability just to throw out food that's about to expire rather than force myself to eat it and over eat. When I cook for a guest, I ALWAYS plan for 2-3 servings + leftovers and include those leftovers in my weekly meal prep. If I had someone over and then they fed my dinner for tomorrow night to their dog without asking I would ask them to leave immediately. Totally justified.
@@UnBesoDeCristalwhy would you say this to someone who said they worked to accomplish something with an actual doctor? do you think you know more about them than their doctor?
I personally also experienced food scarcity (lived off of school lunch tbh ) and I now meal prep with lunch being whatever was leftovers from dinner. But I personally do think he may have over- reacted. raw diet is better for dogs and can even be cheaper but Im also curious about the amount she took because that would matter to me Update though : I definitley wouldnt consider it table scraps. Thats weird.
Reddit Stories with Shayne is like bedtime stories but instead of fairy tales with princesses we have messed up people and their crazy ass lives that are 100% more entertaining
I watch these videos while falling asleep over the course of a few nights its my favourite thing to fall asleep to. This and flashback are great and calming 😅
What really pissed me off about the cat story was the boyfriend diminishing the cat being her lifeline during depression. What some people fail to realize is that, a lot of times, when a depressed person says that about their pet, they don't just mean that they served as emotional support, they quite literally can mean that the pet is the only reason they haven't unalive themselves. That is actually very common, especially when you live alone. I certainly have gone through that period where the only thought that stoped me from ending things was knowing my cat would have no one to look after him. There would be no one to feed or take care of him. I know for a fact that the one thing that actually kept me alive was the ideia that my cat could die too without me around. I don't know if that was her case too, but I can't help but feel that this guy does not take mental health really seriously, it sounds like he just views therapy as a way to fix annoyances.
Hell, my cat interrupted me getting ready to do it. Twice. If you're at my house and you don't like my cat, ignore him. If you're mean to him in the slightest, you're leaving immediately and we're never speaking again.
@@Weird3nSky Your cats a literal life saver. While I haven't gone quite that far before, I know I never could bc of my fur babies. Hope you're in a better headspace ♥ And 100% Agree. Disrespect against that furry little legend (or any) should not be tolerated!
Yes! This was what got me. My cat is a huge emotional support for me. At times he does come first above my boyfriend because it's essentially putting myself first. If you aren't okay with a person's relation with an animal that is that important to their well being, you are not with the right person. If my boyfriend did this, I would tell him to enjoy his move while I choose my cat.
Yeah I feel like people really diminish this importance of pets. They often seem to feel like that's not a good enough reason not to end things, but they also say ending things is really selfish. And I get that, but when you're really spiralling you might not be capable of going through the thought process of what effect this is going to have on the people around you and how severe their grief will be, and it might not even seem bad enough in comparison to what you're going through. However, the thought process of 'If I stop existing right now, my pet WILL die' is a very direct consequence without any other hypothetical results, and you see your pet all the time and have to think about caring for them all the time and constantly have to consider them in decisions you make, so they have a very prominent place in your memory, and it's very unlikely for someone not to think about them when making thìs decision. My dog just died 2 months ago, and one of the first things my mom said after that, was that her dog could live with me for now (which we ended up doing). We never talked about this whole concept, but I'm pretty sure it's a big part of the reason. And in theory I could still bring her dog back to her and then end things, but then at least I can't do anything impulsively, which I think decreases the chances by like 95% or something. Of course it has other benefits too, like forcing me to go out and consoling me when I'm too sad, but the other one is literally life saving.
If someone I was dating said/did anything like this about my two furbabies, they'd be kicked to the curb. My babies have helped me through so much. I would never second guess my decision to choose my babies over a human any day.
So, I went and checked out the guy who was mad at his girlfriend because she basically loves her cat - He had made another post later that year where he was trying to win his ex-girlfriend back and was being borderline stalkery. He was trying to figure out how to get her friends out of the picture. So. Yeah. She dodge a HUGE fucking bullet.
The fact that he posts about the breakup sarcastically without really acknowledging what he did wasn’t cool set me off. This dude really wanted to isolate her from everyone.
@@Sofiaode18 I feel like that shows if he was trying to get rid of her cat, get her to move to a place where she has no support system or friends, it shows he REALLY is controlling and wanting her to ONLY rely on him. Glad she dumped him and dodged that bullet because she would have been miserable.
With the dog story, I can't help but think there was like zero planning involved. Like, you took your dog with you on a big hike and then to someone else's house for dinner and didn't bring/plan a meal for them? What were you expecting? What if he had cooked two steaks and there were no leftovers, what if he had made French onion soup and the dog couldn't have any?
I'm just remaining wary that the roast would have actually been safe for the dog. Like, it's unsalted? No garlic or onion? No spices or herbs of any sort that she can't have? I raw feed my dog and you just generally cannot feed them by hacking a quarter off of your human dinner.
34:50 Shayne nailed it on the head! "Humor" that deameans a physical trait automatically makes the audience analyze themselves physically. That's why when I hear someone negatively joke about their own body or someone else's, I can fall into a spiral thinking about how I compare and it never goes well
@@owenaspinall2046 tbf his funeral was kind of a prototype. they've thrown around the idea of doing another one for him so maybe we'll see more creative roasts in future 😂
Just happen to be listening to this while I clean out my car and hearing Courtney drop "WE have art" rather than "I have art" is a fun little Easter egg 😅❤
i really appreciate Shayne bringing up the point that making fun of a "bad person's" body can impact the people around you who have similar traits! as a fat person, i've experienced this A LOT, from movies and TV, 'comedians', friends, family, and social media. it really severely impacted my mental health and self image in my teens and early 20s. glad it's becoming less and less common, and any awareness that can be brought to the issue of making fun of ANY part of ANYONE'S body is always appreciated :) thanks Shayne!
I’ve experienced this in a way too. Back when Caitlin Jenner came out everyone on TV was making trans jokes, & so we’re my family members that I was living with. It was constant, that was their only joke for like 3 months. & I’d say it was rude and offensive because I’m trans and I’m standing right here listening to you, and they would be like “No no no, we’re laughing at HIM, not YOU.” The point just flew directly over their heads.
I totally agree with this. When mitch McConnel started having his little episodes when he'd freeze up on camera and people were making jokes about it, I started getting uncomfortable. I have epilepsy and have been told that that was what I looked like when I had absence seizures. It made me wonder if people thought I looked funny, or would make the same jokes if they saw me doing the same thing.
Okay but Shayne’s top matching the yellow on the wall, his lips matching the pink on the wall, his chair matching the cream colour, AND his hair matching the actual wall is pure perfection
Feeding your dog a quarter of a roast that someone else bought, prepared and cooked for human consumption without even asking is a shitty thing to do. That's not scraps, that's an entire portion of meat.
@@ohhi7168 The plate did it for me...!!! I would never feed my dog from someone's plate unless they said it was ok for me to do it. My dog and cats have their own bowls. That's not ok! I commented during a live episode and chanse read it out loud saying it was a good idea if ever possible. I had mentioned a dnd themed reddit episode with brennan lee mulligan as a guest
The “cat obsessed girlfriend” story was hilarious to me. As a guy with three cats, two current foster kittens and about 4 outdoor feral cats whom I feed, I can confidently say that the girlfriend sounds like a FANTASTIC pet owner taking the correct amount of precautions for a senior cat’s health and happiness that is normal for a responsible pet owner. She WALKS him! That’s a calm, well-adjusted cat getting exercise and daily enrichment! It’s also NOT as safe for pets to fly in cargo as people tend to think. Especially going abroad, that can be a long trip, and for a senior cat that is a LOT of upheaval. She’s a great pet owner with a healthy amount of dedication to her pet, and he’s an asshole. 😂
It’s baffling to me how he interprets normal pet ownership as an “obsession.” Like I thought she was going to be spending every waking second with the cat and making all her decor cat-themed and sleeping in a cat bed or something, and then he’s like “she takes him on walks! Wtf?!?!” Dude, she has ONE cat and she’s very caring and responsible towards him. wtf is his deal
Yeah, that’s just a normal loving pet owner. These are all super normal. How would he react to a dog owner 😂? And flying in cargo is loud and traumatizing for any pet.
I love Shayne's description of pets being part of a person's identity/character. I never thought of it that way, but it is so true, I really do see it that way now that I've heard it articulated. That's part of why losing pets is so heartbreaking, aside from the grief of losing a family member; it's like a piece of you is no longer around anymore
The dog story: Of course, she should have asked him. She took a quarter of a roast to feed her dog without asking? A roast takes time to make, and he likely had plans with the leftovers. It’s pretty rude to not ask when you’re in his house for the first time. And then to reach into the fridge to get vegetables, seriously? I remember, once, a friend of ours who came over for dinner every Tuesday, just opened our fridge without asking, and I thought that was incredibly rude. This was a guy we’d known for years, and I still don’t think it’s OK then to just say hello, walk into the kitchen, and open the fridge.
Imagine cooking for you gf for hours while she sits there. And then afterwards, she feeds YOUR hard work from love to her friggen dog like it was trash! That is such a slap in the face!
I'm just a dude who is currently trippin on shrooms. Wanted to say the conversation and vibes are great. Background is also great, appreciate all the colours.
This is a golden comment. I have been sober for over a year now but I always suspected watching smosh content while on cid or shrooms would be so chill and fun.
I do love how that dog story went from "I mean, it's generally reasonable what you did, I think it would have been better had you talked to J first, but like, nothing massive thought" to "No, he was right to have broken up with you. Be a better person."
It actually started with shayne saying “that reaction is wild” in reference to the bf grabbing the plate from the dog and telling her to leave. He was actually gonna side with her originally. Insane lmao
Honestly I thought it was an esh situation but leaning more towards the bf being the ah for his kind of overboard reaction. But once Shayne started reading the comments I was shifting more towards her being the bigger ah since she sounded pretty condescending (calling half of a roast “table scraps” or assuming her boyfriend would know that her asking how the roast was prepared meant she was going to give some of the roast to Shelby)
How was he ever the ah? He respects her boundaries, meanwhile putting up with her crossing his, communicates with her about his boundaries, planned a big fancy & expensive date for them, makes sure Shelby can be included, cooks her dinner, etc. All he did was take away the dog's food, which actually wasn't the dog's it was 100% his, then told her to leave when she started blaming him that he should have planned for this, when it's not his responsibility to make your dog's meal, especially when he's not educated on a raw food diet, she should have planned ahead & brought Shelby's dinner. The entitlement to raid his kitchen & take his things and then when he takes his stuff back &tries to one again state his boundaries around food, she starts framing it as if he stole it from her when it's the exact opposite. Literally what did this man do wrong?
I was in a really bad depressive spiral, and getting my cat is one of the few things that helped me get out of it. That whole story made my blood boil.
That guy's reaction to the cat was awful. It was also a symptom of a bigger problem. He resents anything or anyone she gives attention to outside of himself. I'm so glad she dumped him. He would have isolated her from friends and family. If they had kids he would have been one of those awful dads who are jealous of their own children and resent that the kids are getting their wife's attention. Eventually he would have done something to harm that poor cat too.
100% my cat has been around my entire life, she's very old, and she's been through it all with me. The cat was there before him and the cat will be there after him, clearly it's provided better support than he has. I can't imagine loving someone enough that you'd start treating a pet like shit. It's just so upsetting, and I relate to that lady a lot.
@@cuculain78Not necessarily, some people just don't view pets with a lot of consideration (usually because they've never had one), that doesn't automatically mean they're going to isolate their partner from friends and family That's a pretty drastic assumption to make
I was listening to the podcast version and i had to come and look at the end where Courtney said “we should go on a cruise and bring our cats” but she kind of stumbled over the word “our”. I was like oooohh😂 1:09:10
It makes sense that no one caught on, they said they weren't together so we believed them. It's kinda a respect thing. I always thought they meant that everyone in the room had art. Or the Smosh office hart.
Shane flipping the iPad around and joking about "imagine seeing a kid looking at this" just flashed me back to that one time I looked down at my 8 year old nephew on his Switch to see he was watching RUclips drama videos about the Vegan Teacher
9:27 the only thing I could say is wrong about the girl with the baby voice boyfriend, is he is right about one thing. She does not communicate. He asked her what she doesn’t like about him and she couldn’t say. She could’ve said “I don’t like when you do this.” It’s not that hard to be nice and say what bothers you. This is coming from someone who deathly avoids confrontation so I often don’t say how I feel but I’m constantly working on it and op should too.
the fact that he asked her what she didn’t like about him makes me think that maybe he did see the reddit post, and was testing if she would tell him the issue to his face. he might’ve been too embarrassed/felt it would embarrass her to come clean about seeing the post, especially when she didn’t bring it up when he asked.
ABSOLUTELY THIS. She acts shocked when he says she doesn't communicate but she said that they've been together for years and only now is she saying she's over it. She's either been entertaining the behavior or hasn't been doing anything to express her dislike of it. Almost positive he saw the post and didn't want to tell her that's why he's dumping her because otherwise there were no indicators he was going to. (though I'm sure that she's pissed that she didn't do it herself)

Same reason we reject short-nose pugs. Plus I’ve seen suitcases that weren’t loaded correctly get crushed in bins before. She and the cat both dodged a bullet.
Love that just desserts were served in the cat story 😂 It's so weird to be jealous over an animal. My little sister (22) has been s*icidal before. In the worst of it, she adopted a little black kitten named Jasper, and Jasper essentially saved her life. He was her BEST FRIEND, and when she had a ton of problems with friends he kept her company and made her feel content. They had a VERY similar relationship to the one described in the "cat obsession" story. Her last boyfriend seemed like a good one. But this January, Jasper died suddenly from a condition she didn't realize he had. She was absolutely *_devastated._* Jasper had been the only thing keeping her alive for the four years she had him. For the first couple weeks, her boyfriend was a comforting presence. He listened when she needed a shoulder to cry on, took care of her when she felt alone, and was a great help to her. Then he suddenly changed, told her she was being too much, and dumped her. Jasper had been gone for a month and a half. My sister's grief over her best friend, her little furry son, her certified emotional support animal, was "too much" for this guy to handle. I don't think a Reddit story has ever made me as angry as this one. I'm so glad that woman got out of that relationship.
Hello, I’m so sorry to hear about your sister and her cat. I’ve lost a cat in the past due to a condition we also didn’t know about. Cats are tough little guys and they often don’t show people that they aren’t feeling well like other animals might. Because of this their passing often comes out of nowhere for us. I hope she knows that her cat loved her and that she gave him a fulfilling life. That ex-boyfriend is a total jerk and broke up with her because he can’t handle taking care of another person when they aren’t at 100% not because of the cat. Her grief is justified and he failed to stand up when she needed it. Wishing you both the best.

My cat was with me through a previous bad relationship, he never really got on with my ex, me not realising what a good judge of character my lil lion is. So when now bf met my cat I was a little nervous. They bonded right away and it was reveled he used to be a cat dad but hadn't tried to fill that void in him as it was too painful. We had a beautiful conversation about loss, the love of cats and their antics, we even both shed a little tear. The entire time my cat was curled up on his lap. In the morning I woke up to see my cat sleeping soundly on his chest. We've been together for 2yrs now, their bond is so strong, I melt a little every time my cat curls up on him after giving head bumps.
I 100% relate to this! My 19-year-old cat used to pee on any guy's stuff (so much so that I asked my vet about it) and would sit nearby and glare at them. I thought she was jealous of not having 100% of the attention on her until I met my now boyfriend. When he came over for the first time, I told him to be aware of her antics and to not take offense. Within 5 minutes, my cat was sitting on his chest, DROOLING on the man. More than two years later they're best buds - she greets him every morning, follows him around the house, always goes to him for pets (especially when she has a wet head from dunking her face in her water bowl), and goes to snuggle with him when he's having a rough day. Every time I see them together my heart fills up seeing them care for each other.
Apparently when my parents started dating, one of the tests my dad had to pass to be in my mom's life was to win over her frail elderly cat who she'd gotten when she was a small child. This cat, upon meeting him, was so delighted by his petting that she started weeping (which apparently happens rarely when a cat is extremely blissed out). He also had a beloved childhood cat growing up, though I don't think she lived long enough to meet my mom.
That last second to last story was glorious, I like to think my own experiences with dishonest guys in the past have been healed by that move, that was wonderful of her. And the fact that the revenge was nothing more than literally just describing his choices, 100% ethical.
I'm so obsessed with this series that Angela saying "Update! There's an update" jokingly at 9:57 literally elicited a pavlovian response in me and I got excited lmaoo 😭
For the cat story, I'm betting after reading his story she saw all the manipulating and all the ways he feels about her and that pushed her into dumping him
YES!! I'm so glad you pointed this out, it was ALL I could think about 😂She likely saw all the arguments he got into in the comments, probably his other public posts pertaining to this matter ... That shift from "she just needs time to think" to "SHE DUMPED ME" was hysterical
Honestly, the cat story really hit close to home. Pets are an underraterd ally in the fight against mental illness/mental heardships. I experienced extreme childhood trauma (9 ot of 10 on the ACEs scale), and my teens had me at the absolute lowest point imaginable. If I didn't have my cat, I would have kept attempting suicide until I succeeded, and that's something I can say without question. I was the only person to care for and love my special needs cat and me not existing would have meant him not lasting much longer, I couldn't be the reason this sweet cat would suffer. My cat Buyo, now past, was not just my life line but I credit him for keeping me going when everything else had convinced me to give up; and because of him I have the beautiful life I do now. I will forever be grateful for him, and there will never be a day that goes by that i don't miss him terribly. I really wish people understood that pets are not just things, and we connect with them in deep ways. This guy in this story is 1000% the asshole.
Same. I had an illness destabilize my mental health and we didn’t know it for a bit. Once I was on a better med dose and some other things my friend sat me down and had a conversation. They told me flat out that if I ever started talking about rehoming my rats like that again that they’ll view that as a plan and act accordingly. My animals, family pets when younger, and my rats now have been vital in keeping me safe. I even had a rat who taught himself to task and would perform specific things to calm me during panic attacks.
Calling half a roast “table scraps” is mind boggling. Honey that’s called tomorrows dinner
That's enough for two, maybe three, dinners even. That's a lot of meat!
I bet she was raised rich whilst he probably had some sort of food insecurity and/or raised in a family that used up all of the leftovers. Because I seriously can't find a valid reason for Half a roast equalling to 'table scraps'.
Also, didnt she say raw onion?! That is a toxin for dogs. Woman is crazy.
That story made me way too upset. How freaking entitled or oblivious can a person be?!
It would be mind boggling if that's what they did, but it isn't. Half was left, and they took a quarter, so that's an eighth of the roast, and they ate half just the two of them, so that really isn't much. She should have asked first but he's a weirdo.
You can tell Courtney has had full length convos with cats before with how good the angry cat sound was that they did.
Finally!!!! I was waiting for someone to comment on this!!!! They were so good at the impression I almost thought they added some kind of cat noises to the convo, lol.

39:24 OP: My girlfriend has a crazy cat obsession!!! *proceeds to describe completely common cat owner behaviour*

Yes! I feel that in many ways. Though, I have no problem making fun of Trump's tuft of hair or his tanning bed accident of a skin complexion.

I thought of this too
It reminds me of how there are stories about people who come over for a huge dinner and take all the leftovers home without asking and sometimes when people haven't even finished eating.

Shayne’s impression of how a baby starts to cry is on point.

@@owenaspinall2046 tbf his funeral was kind of a prototype. they've thrown around the idea of doing another one for him so maybe we'll see more creative roasts in future 😂
I was just about to make this comment!
I'm right there with you guys. My saving grace was to quit internalizing it. Our body image is NOT who we are!
I love the reading the responses to the funeral because out of context it makes us look insane.

I stand by the 5 minute rule. Do not make fun of someone's appearance/body if they cannot change/fix it in 5 minutes or less.
Yes, absolutely!!
This is a GREAT rule! I’m going to start using this.
That's a really good way to do it. Adjusts well for individual circumstances.

Was just thinking this on the rewatch. Also Courtney's "I have friends that do this" and shayne being a bit too familiar with rhe topic lmao

The roast is bad enough, but going into the fridge for unused vegetables as well is what does it for me.
I'm stressed about her using a (possibly new) plate that icks me out
also not to mention roast takes hours to make!
her going "uneaten food is scraps" just smells rich girl tbh. A good cut of meat for a roast isn’t some chicken hearts.
@@ohhi7168 The plate did it for me...!!! I would never feed my dog from someone's plate unless they said it was ok for me to do it. My dog and cats have their own bowls. That's not ok! She could've brought the dog's meal and bowl with her, she knew they'd be away from home for some time!!! Using the plate, taking the roast and the vegetables from the fridge without asking is incredibly rude. She could've asked, and she could've planned better.

@@corgio1260 YES, all of this. And then "should I have gotten her a therapist before I left??" was the icing on the cake.
As a pet owner, you know immediately when your pets are acting funny.
I love Shayne's description of pets being part of a person's identity/character. I never thought of it that way, but it is so true, I really do see it that way now that I've heard it articulated. That's part of why losing pets is so heartbreaking, aside from the grief of losing a family member; it's like a piece of you is no longer around anymore
he’s a cat dad after all so i’m sure that’s why

Shane's skill as a host of this show is almost as underappreciated as his Dorian Gray reference.
We see you and your literature joke, King!
At a certain point she is just robbing him.
Opening someone’s fridge is wild to me. I feel weird going in my parents fridge and they’re my parents like???
Imagine cooking for you gf for hours while she sits there. And then afterwards, she feeds YOUR hard work from love to her friggen dog like it was trash!
That is such a slap in the face!

At first it sounds like the boyfriend is the asshole, but as I thought about it, she was really the asshole.
I think Shayne just needed a few moments to process the story. It happens, to be honest. @@thexyouman
My cats have actually kept me alive through the darkest shit of my entire life. I have never cursed more during one of these Reddit stories.
SAME. This person was missing an empathy chip. Big red flag
@@cuculain78Not necessarily, some people just don't view pets with a lot of consideration (usually because they've never had one), that doesn't automatically mean they're going to isolate their partner from friends and family
That's a pretty drastic assumption to make

Yeah she definitely could not satisfy his need for love and affection. I don't think it's either of their faults. I'm glad they had a clean break up
This is the story of Jonah and the Whale
the fact that he asked her what she didn’t like about him makes me think that maybe he did see the reddit post, and was testing if she would tell him the issue to his face. he might’ve been too embarrassed/felt it would embarrass her to come clean about seeing the post, especially when she didn’t bring it up when he asked.
(though I'm sure that she's pissed that she didn't do it herself)
why is courtney's angry cat noise so spot on oh my god

Re: story 5 about the cat
I worked as a baggage handler for Delta for years, and we all had to have training for what kinds of pets could go into the bottom of planes and what couldn’t, and we *routinely* rejected older pets and cats because it’s not safe due to there being less airflow. Same reason we reject short-nose pugs. Plus I’ve seen suitcases that weren’t loaded correctly get crushed in bins before.
She and the cat both dodged a bullet.
My dog is perfectly healthy but I would be terrified putting her in one of those
Love that just desserts were served in the cat story 😂 It's so weird to be jealous over an animal. I also had a cat that went though the worst parts of my life with me, meant everything to me, and gave me a reason to wake up for years. I would always tell people I dated that if they didn't get along, we wouldn't work out. Props to her for calling that relationship quits.

13:16 omg I never realized Courtney said "We have art" with Shayne there. Omg man this slip up is crazy now lol
I feel like such a clown for not missing all the signs. I genuinely thought they were platonic.
😭 Bless Jasper.
I hope your sister is okay and potentially adopted another jasper to continue his hard work
I thought he was going to gift her a new kitty…. Geez that dude was an asshole too

My cat helped seal my relationship with my now bf. My bf is everything I could hope for, he's funny, kind, resourceful, grounded and attractive. I was smitten but I had one deal breaker, my cat.
