I have this guitar and i feel like its incredibly underrated the build quality and QC are amazing. The pickups have grown on me for metal and have a ton of versatility for cleans and fluid leads. This one doesnt get the credit it deserves in an age where jackson is hit or miss.
I hear you this was one of the best built Jackson models I've played. I recently reviewed the new Pro Plus DK made in China and unfortunately it was in horrendous shape.
I have the green floyd rose version and this blue hardtail. My experience is they're pretty good. A couple slightly high frets on the green FR and the trem claw is screwed in slightly off-center. The blue one is put together with a much more caring hand, yet there are more high fret spots with a lifter on the treble side 15th fret. Unfortunately something to often be expected with cargo ship travel from Asia given the environmental factors the instruments are subjected to. If it's on the top loaded cargo container, temps inside can get as high as 140 degrees if the shipment is in summer. Overall, I think they're very good. If I spent $1000 or more on them, I might not be as happy. But I got one for $950 and one for $750.
I disagree with you on these pickups. I like this extra grain in the sound they are providing, especially in the context of metal, would definitely choose this one over your other guitar!
What's funny is how the bolt on and neck through model guitars do give a different tone. You can hear more static on a distorted bolt on as opposed to a neck through
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial so much going from input to output. Distortion, effects, gates, compression. If you still get static after all that, then it's probably the setup of the guitar itself
Hello James. I have the same guitar. I dont seem to be able to acess some of the voicings that you have show here. How do you get the neck split on its own?
Korea guitars tend to not disappoint. It's great seeing a new well built Jackson again. My favorite color of blue they chose. I'm on the fence if I personally would prefer a floating bridge or evertune. The Evertune Jackson's probably need this sandblast finish. Agree, would love to see a Soloist like this.
I got this guitar TODAY because of your review! I agree on the gigbag, but the pickups sound good to me and I love the versatility on the clean. Just out of curiosity, what settings do you have on the amp? Are you boosting mids and trebs? Mine sounds darker and rounder on flat EQ, but I will experiment with different amps and settings. Thanks for the video, man!
Awesome! She's a beauty and the cleans were to die for! Very little EQ messing on the Mesa Lonestar Kemper profile I used for this view. Mids at noon. Lows at 11 I clock. Highs at 1/2 o clock. I do add a very slight Vibrato effect in front of the amp however to add some extra resonance which brightens things up a bit. Hope this helps!
Tricky one as the Blood Moon I had in for review on the channel last year was an absolute disaster build quality wise! Assuming you get a good example of both id say its personal preference. The pickups and Multiscale design are a bit more Metal focused on the Blood Moon, whereas this is more versatile and can do proper Prog/Jazz cleans for example.
The sound of this guitar is literally just right. Not that it matters but just for reference of where I’m coming from I play prs core and they are my favorite along with usa dean guitars. However this guitar just gets what I consider the right sound. I just keep listening and it’s 10/10. Wow!

My big issue with Jackson is that their signature models don't come with cases especially since prices have gone up, I'm just not a big fan. But I just bought one of these off reverb in good shape, like new shape with hard case for $970
I think the pickups sound great on this guitar! Are you familiar with the Schecter Keith Merrow KM-7 MK-3 artist guitar? I would love to see you review it! I’ve seen a couple of reviews online, but they don’t really go deep with all the unique specs on the guitar, like the Compensated nut…the Hipshot Bridge which is a little different than the regular bridges, at least to my knowledge. And of course the Fishmann Keith Merrow signature pickups. I know the guitar is a little pricey…but anyway, I hope it will happen. Cheers 🥂!!

Hi, about the Schecter SLS Elite Soundproblems with Fishman Fluence Modern: I've had the same issues like you with the harsh noisy sounding Bridge Pickup. The moderns have a 6db cut option, which solve this damn Problem. It is weird that Fishman think, that the harsh distorted sound should be the prime mode. Put some jumpers on the low distorted mode and all problems are gone! Its like the true motion mode on TVs. No one needs that crap as main setup. Have a nice day! Great Reviews!
Haha as a full time film maker I absolutely LOATHE any motion enhancing features on TV's too. I do find on the fluence moderns that Voice 2 on the Bridge is a more pleasing overall sound. Is the 6db cut an easy mod to do?
Yes! You only have to put jumpers on the free two pins in the right corner. It is possible to use this two pins for an extra knob to switch between the modes. But on the SLS all push pulls are in use, so you have to choose before changing the strings. In my opinion, V1 with low distiortion mode+ V2 standard on both pickups are useful for recordings and sounds great. The official fishman manual tells about that option, but without this Forum post, i never search for that. I thought hhmmm is the guitar crap or the pickups broken in some way. Sorry for my bad grammar.-.-
Sorry for this little commercial: On this track and the upcoming second track from our new album, you can here the Schecter (right ear ESP horizon standart left ear) in standart V1 mode. I bought this guitar from you after this review and while I've loved how it feels and plays, I eventually got to the same place as you did about the pickups. I have the Classics in a 6 string I use for power metal and more traditional stuff and they work really well for that but they really aren't voiced to be a 7-string pickup with that lack of clarity and fizziness. Happily, Fishman have finally released an open core version of the Modern, which is a drop-in replacement for the Classics on this guitar. I've had them installed for a few days now and it's absolutely transformational. Everything sounds way tighter and more aggressive on the bridge pickup, clarity of individual notes is way better and harmonics absolutely scream. They really should have gone from Moderns from the very beginning - you were right all along!
Dude I'd love to hear to some sound samples of those new Modern open core pickups, those are the new blade ones right? Any idea if they sound the same as the Soapbar Moderns? Glad the guitar went to a good home it's probably my favourite Jackson I've reviewed on the channel!
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial Yeah, they're the blade ones. I have only have the soapbar moderns in a 6-string 25.5 inch scale E-II Horizon so it's hard to do a like-for-like comparison. They do sound very similar to my ear in terms of the voicing but the open cores have just a little more output and aggression. It could well be a marginal difference in pickup height, a swamp ash vs a mahogony guitar or a number of other variables but it's definitely there!
I enjoy the versatility of 7 strings. Of course metal is what most are looking for, but even in b standard, one can play drop c songs for example without changing the tuning, so for that reason I do understand the appeal of a classic/JB sounding 7 string PU. That said, this guitar is without a doubt aimed at metal musicians, so I agree that the choice of pickups were wrong.
