    Has there ever been a more perfect pairing of two magnificent talents on the same stage? I think not.

    PLEASE, SOMEONE RELEASE THIS SHOW ON DVD! Never has there been such a talented duo on tv. Their musical comedy medley rivals Merman and Martin's from The Ford Star Jubilee. The humor and dance all throughout and its a foreshadow to the Carol Burnett Show which I think had he same writers and dancers. Just wonderful!

    I turned 65 today. I remember being 14 and enthralled watching this. (I think nothing came of "Calamity Jane," but I'm not sure.) I bought the LP and listened to this constantly. It taught me to listen to the orchestra because they're doing interesting stuff behind the stars. Listen to the strings going into the chorus both times. Listen to the dance arrangement. It's a brilliant arrangement. I won't say I wore the LP out, but I DID listen to it a lot.

    I listened to this on an LP about a thousand times. What a TREAT to see what it looked like at Carnegie Hall. What I'd give to have been in the audience!!

    Wow!! I'm surprised they could do more than 2 of the numbers they did in one evening, they're so vocally demanding .....
    Classic. This will never get old. I'm a teenager and I LOVE them.

    In the sixties, Carol was my idol. I adored her. Kept scrapbooks, saw her on Broadway and in Pittsburgh (when Julie became pregnant and couldn't tour with her and was replaced with Martin and Rossi). I even bribed schoolmates out on the schoolyard during recess to vote for her in The People's Choice Awards. One year she won by very few votes and I swore my efforts were what put her over the top to defeat Lucille Ball (whom I also loved, but not like Carol). She was brilliant and soooooo genuine and down to earth. Not sure that still applies, but the talent remains forever.

      Yeah, Lucille Ball never matched up with Carol for me either. I loved I LOVE LUCY but the shows that came after not so much.
      Lucille Ball was a knockout in the 1940’s and I couldn’t believe her dancing and singing abilities . I caught an old movie once; couldn’t believe she could be that beautiful!! She made several movies. Then, with I LOVE LUCY she just went for the comedy and slapstick.

    This was live in 1962. Julie had just finished Camelot, Carol (I think) was still doing The Garry Moore Show.

    If Julie was pregnant then this had to be right before or after Walt Disney offered her the role of Mary Poppins because I remember she said she almost turned it down because of being pregnant.

    • @lindaeasley4336
      @lindaeasley4336 4 года назад

      This show was from 1962 .Mary Poppins premiered in 1964 so it's possible Walt offered her the role while still pregnant

    @Rebas1Okie Ironic, because one of her first roles was as a girl from tenessee, but she says that when she came to the states and heard a real southern accent she died of shame.

    I love pointing out this video whenever people complain about Dick Van Dyke's bad Cockney accent in _Mary Poppins_ (released two years after this performance). Carol Burnett is a native-born Texan, but Julie Andrews -- well, to put it charitably, she's very obviously NOT from Texas! But who cares? They're both dynamite, and I doubt any Texas viewers were bothered by her "fake accent" that comes and goes, just like Van Dyke's.

    • @lindaeasley4336
      @lindaeasley4336 4 года назад

      It's hard to imitate an accent properly .Even harder to sustain it for a long period in a film or song

  • @Leamichellefan2244

    I love Julie Andrews, but God love her she can’t do a western accent to save her life.
