  • Extremely rare footage and images of Marilyn Monroe in May of 1962. The images in this clip show Marilyn rehearsing for her now famous performance of "Happy Birthday," sung to President John F. Kennedy during the Presidential Birthday Gala at Madison Square Garden on May 19, 1962. The candid footage shows Marilyn wearing the same outfit from rehearsals, traveling from and to Madison Square Garden, and entering and leaving her NYC apartment at 444 East 57th Street. Pat Newcomb, Marilyn's publicist, travels with her in the limousine.

    JFK didn't have a long stand relationship with marilyn, she never became his mistress, he just slept with her a couple of times.

    She should have never subjected herself to that sort of performance, it was humiliating to Jacqueline Kennedy and her!
    I could never understand why Marilyn didn't think how her behaviour on a public stage made the President's wife feel....and other onlookers!

    • @MarilynMonroeCollection
      @MarilynMonroeCollection  2 года назад +1

      Jackie Kennedy wasn’t even there. She performed the song exactly the way she rehearsed it. That’s what she wanted, and she gave the public what they expected. How else would she have looked and performed it? She was, after all, Marilyn Monroe.

      @@MarilynMonroeCollection
      She looked and performed embarrassingly!
      She should have had consideration for the man's wife whether she was present or not. Mrs Kennedy would have heard about or seen the footage later and felt humiliated. Why couldn't Marilyn dress appropriately! Not because she was the biggest sex symbol meant that she must display her body in that way! There were other stars present who saw it fit to dress classy. Marilyn should have too.

      @@cherylthomas1268 Well whatever she did, which you obviously don't approve of (do you even like Marilyn Monroe?), she did EVERYTHING right. The way she performed that song is constantly imitated today. And that dress that was so inappropriate? It sold at auction in 2016 for $4.8 million dollars. So...I think it's safe to assume she wasn't (or shouldn't have been) all that embarrassed. Me thinks perhaps you should consider lightening up. You're kinda standing alone on this one.

      @@MarilynMonroeCollection
      Marilyn's dress fetched that price because it's a historical reference of an alleged affair.
      I have no hate for her, why would I? I'm stating that she should have been considerate of another woman's feelings...the wife.
      If you think she did everything right that's your opinion which I respect but don't accept.
      And being alone on this does not change my view.
      And since millions share your view, mine should not warrant any response.

    • @MarilynMonroeCollection
      @MarilynMonroeCollection  2 года назад +1

      @@cherylthomas1268 You’re certainly entitled to your opinion. But truth be told, that dress represents an historic performance at an occasion where politics and Hollywood came together in an unforgettable moment. There’s no solid evidence of a sexual relationship between JFK and MM. They met on four occasions, and with other people. That the uninformed public constantly believes this tale is disheartening. Even if it were true, condemning Marilyn like she was the only person in the world ever to have had an affair is very short sided. I wonder if you comment on every RUclips video showing a woman who “allegedly” had an affair and criticize her (and for what she was wearing in the video). #bebetter
