Yes, it was magical. I was simultaneously grinning from ear to ear AND tearing up. I'm happy to say that I teach youth musical theatre and all of my 4th, 5th & 6th grade students love her, know her and respect her technique! A parent expressed gratitude to me when they sent me a text message saying "My (11 year old) kid is singing "Wouldn't it be Loverly in the Shower." Thank You! Many children's fave singer is Beyonce or Taylor Swift. Many of my students will say Julie Andrews.

Modern hosts try to make themselves part of the entertainment, and their outgoingness often makes the guest more shy. Dick was shy himself, but that actually made the guests feel more comfortable and come out of their shells more, so he often got to see sides of people's personalities that you wouldn't see elsewhere. She was SUPPOSED to be in the movie. She starred several productions playing the part in England along with Rex Harrison. It was a huge snub to her to not ask her to play the part when she pretty much made it.
Instead, she went and starred in Mary Poppins and won several awards for it. And Audrey Hepburn did not get nominated for anything for the role as a political whiplash to her doing the part.

I'm 67 but sincerely, she makes me wish I were 80 and looking forward to spend the short rest of my life with her... does that makes sense?
