All I`ve gotta say is WOW. I never knew Carol and Julie could move like that. That routine was so full of energy the two of them must have been exhausted after that number. It was pure entertainment. BRAVO!
Simply phenomenal. You can see the immense amount of training they had to do in order to be this synchronized, delivering such a smooth and seamless performance without so much as a pause for breath. Their passion and efforts are so evident. Truly respect these two ladies (and the male performers) for all they've done to promote the arts. If only our modern society could learn to appreciate it better. They're the heroes we don't deserve :')
Don't know if anyone's noticed, but much of the music thay dance to is Irving Berlin played in a minor key. The director/choreographer was none other than the legendary Gower Champion, with (I believe) Andre Previn on the podium. Mike Nichols wrote a lot of the specialties. Julie and Carol re-united at Lincoln Center a decade later, but it was neither as good nor as memorable.
I could have sworn this was in color.but. i might of been confused this with there reappearance at Lincoln center, unless this was colorizes for some earlier home video released.
Many of the lyrics are Russian Authors or at least names. Ivan Dimitri ... and at the end of the line, "Dostoyevsky aye aye aye." A native speaker would probably be able to sort most of them out.

Was this after they sang The Pratt Family Singers?
When comedy was funny.
The radish symbolizes wheat.
Wouldn't wheat do a better job of that ?
Dostojewski-ja-ja-ja! LOL!
