    For everyone that is in blender 4.0 and upper and tries to find the ambient occlusion property go to Render Properties then Light Paths then Fast GI Approximation and you should see AO Distance which stands for as you may have guessed "Ambient Occlusion" Distance. Change the values the way you want finally for your render to look good.

    • @naniidoodles
      @naniidoodles Год назад +2

      When changing the values of the AO Factor, I either get the version without it at 0 and really dark and obvious occlusions anything beyond 0 to 1, like I get nothing in between ;-; just 2 extremes

    16:25 If you don't see the render result in the compositing tab, switch the editor type (dropdown icon at the top left of the panel) to "image editor", then use the dropdown in the middle to switch to "render result". Also if you don't see the "Render Layers" and "Composite" nodes, make sure to click the "Use Nodes" checkbox.

    • @EricVega
      @EricVega 4 года назад +10

      This is incredibly helpful, but I still can't find the "Use Nodes" checkbox. I've compared my Compositing tab to Andrew's and the top bar that should have "Use Nodes" looks different in my viewport. There is no "Use Nodes" box, nor do I see the "Backdrop" and other things in the right corne. Could you help me at all? I feel like I'm missing something obvious.

    It's actually pretty funny from a photographer's perspective that I've learned more about light in Blender than with my own lighting setup. The ease of set up and the wide range of infinite objects I can study light on is indispensable I've found. Remembering to constrain my limitations in the 3D space to mimic real world applications for practical use is hard sometimes but as far as the study of light and form goes, it's a great way to supplement and enhance real world practice. It's especially helpful in quarantine. But that's also why I love landscape photography. I know my light based on time of year and location, but in the end it's whatever the clouds give you. A lot more frantic haha.

    Investing in strong hardware that can render in seconds while doing lots of testing is the first and foremost important step to become a 3D artist.. Student A who has to wait 10 minutes, compared to student B who has to wait 1 minute, compared to student C who has to wait only 2 seconds to see results of a slight rotation will have significant disadvantages over a long period of time.. Imagine all 3 students study blender for 4 hours a day.. Surely, there will be huge differences between them after one year. So many talents in so many countries are getting wasted just because of lagging hardware. Therefore, I highly appreciate all the information and know-how Andrew and many other valuable youtubers are providing for free.. Giving free education is highly noble for sure.. That said, dear ladies.. dear gentleman.. Please also remember to support the poor "talents" in your neighborhood.. Having a constant mindset to financially help those in need and to help in time (because talent is a delicate flower that can easily fade if not watered at its early stages) is crucial for creating a better future. God bless you all..

    If you want to do a 360 around your object, you can also parent the background to the empty and it will move around as well. Do this instead of trying to make a 360 background, which would be a pain (I tried)
    For a quick 360 there is the "turn around camera" add-on build into blender, which works pretty well.

    For those using 3.x: If you use the Denoise node in the Compositor, you may end up with a bunch of white squares as your render, instead of what you see when you render a single image. (I just waited half an hour for my render only to discover this.) Apparently there was a change in 3.0, which I learned about in this video ruclips.net/video/6EGNUsC_l7A/видео.html&ab_channel=BhagathGoud. As someone else here mentioned, just use Denoise in your Render settings and skip the Denoise node in the Compositor.

    I'm not sure that you explained how to get rid of those doted lines (relationship lines) in the last tutorial. For those who don't know, go to overlays on the top of your screen and then under objects uncheck the box for relationship lines. That should fix it. If you can't find overlays, just search it up on the web.
