    thanks for the tut and insights!
    tip: you can drag the yellow dot of the spotlight and the light will automatically rotate towards it! is faster than rotating it with double R

    IES lights are engineering modelled light data and available from light manufacturers such as Philips, or OSRAM etc... also you can use the blend with the spot light to create a softer blend across the light falloff

    Dude, you won't believe it but I was intending to try and learn more on lighting, and I opened YT, I see your video literally first on my feeds. Thank you very much, like always, clean, super straightforward, and smooth. Love your videos, learned A HECK LOT, and still am from your channel.

    Thanks for your tutorials, I love your channel😄Actually I am a professional photographer who started to learn Blender a few years ago, and I was alway feeling the lack of good lighting tutorials from most of RUclips Blender tutorial channels. I am really glad that you take the lighting very seriously at the professional photographer level. Please keep up! By the way, you've showed us that you used 2 Area Lights in the 5th example. I haven't tested that scenario in Blender yet, but if I do the actual photo shooting to replicate the scene, I would use only one super narrow and long soft box instead of 2, so if I do it in Blender I will start from the super narrow and super long Area Light (long side is Y axis) as the main light. At least only one light is used apparently in the original image you tried to replicate. Oh, another thing. In the first example, you called the main light "Ambient Light", but we photographers tend to call it "Key Light", and "Ambient Light' is more like the light from HDRI. Anyway, thanks for sharing your wisdom!

    Great video, thank you :) Depending on the scenes colors, I'd desaturate or change the hue of the nishita sky texture to prevent color cast. e.g. if you have a yellow scene + the blue from the sky, you'll get a green'ish color cast.

    very nice, thank you. I think finding the right balance with the contrast by shadow and color is the crucial (and hard) part.

    Thanks for the tutorials! You are definitely my favorite blender artist on youtube.
    I was wondering if it would be possible to add new shaders to Realtime Materials which involve particles, such as a grass or fur material. I don't know if it's possible but that would be an awesome addition!

    Great video thanks. I think the IES needs more explanation that it is actually a lighting profile file, typically from real world light fixtures and manufacturers rather than " a light" Most light fixture manufacturers have an IES file available on their website along side the other technical data. Very useful if your designing an interior where lighting plays a key role

    For people interested in IES light files you should also look into CRI values for lighting. CRI stands for colour rendering index and represents true colour values in light. Colour temperature is also important.

    • @edh615
      @edh615 2 года назад +1

      CRI doesn't apply to RGB rendering.
