Concrete board on curb is for holding thin set and tile. Keep in mind that concrete board on its own is not waterproof. Here is my understanding of water management of shower floor, but I am sure there is a more experienced person/video that can explain better. Layers of floor from top to bottom generally are tile/grout, top mud pan, pan liner, bottom mud pan (on a wood floor there would be tar paper under bottom mud pan. Water can permeate under tile/grout and enter the top mud pan. Pan liner is ultimate water barrier and directs any water in top mud pan to the drain. Probably more than you wanted to know 😂
Doesn't screwing the backer board to your curb defeat the purpose of installing a pan liner?

Just furr the studs out 1/4" above the pan liner and you won't have the corner bump.

Love your videos.................. So well explained & you cover every detail!!
You can put a 1/4” strip down stud to get the board to sit away from.
How did you seal the floor to the cement board??
What if you do not use tile, but a shower pan? Does the concrete board come all the way down?
Awesome video gave me ideas but I still need to research a bit more.
whats the point of the plastic sheet on the bottom?
Take a Sawzall angle cut 2×4 just enough to slip pan into wall
great video !
Really helpful
legend has it he still reguarding....
Great video! Do you also need to screw into the bottom sill plate to minimize all movement and potential tile cracking?
Hi thank you. No need to screw that low.
Not supposed to touch each other board because expansion and contraction?
Still great video if i must add still after 3post...
