I had 5 indicator lights come on at once yesterday and my car started running roughly, felt like it was going to misfire... just watched your video and took my gas cap off and put it back in tightly and all of the lights have gone off and its running normal again! Hallelujah!
THANK YOU for this very detailed information. I got all three of the lights on the night before I hosted a party for 45 at my home. Not having a car was not super helpful and I needed more information. Safely used the car for a 5 mile errand, hosted the event, care to the shop the next day!
I was encountered with the engine and stability control of my 2012 Toyota Camry lights on yesterday. I tried to fixed it by myself and watched several RUclips videos. Most of them gave me wrong information or solutions. Lucky i watched your video and convinced by the way you presented. So, I run bdm and found out that the cause was from the spark plugs, So I bought from auto zone and changed it. walla ! Problem solved! One thing I would suggest other people watching your RUclips is that, they have to erase or maybe wait for a while before the light go away. For me after I changed the spark plugs the reader showed me that there is an electrical coil problem, however, after I erased the reading , somehow the light vanished. Thank you so much you saved one soul after 4 years you posted your video. 😅
So first, glad to help. Second, good work too. And finally, don't be totally surprised to find there really is a coil problem (and the lights come back). More common than plugs and the new ones may mask a weak coil...
Awesome! Super helpful. On way to work and freaking out about how screwed my Monday will be dealing w this. Pulled over, watch this video, checked the gas cap and it was dangling off! This morning at work will still suck but not because of the car! Thx!
You have no idea how much of a relief this video is! I've got a 2012 Scion XB and out of nowhere it started running badly and the check engine light and slip indicator was on too. I took it to a shop that said the number 3 cylinder is misfiring. I bought all new spark plugs and ignition coils and will install them tomorrow. I sure do hope that fixes all the issues. They had said the slip indicator was from possibly a faulty ABS sensor, but I think it's more what you say: that the engine running bad is messing it up. Again, thanks for the great info!!!
Thank you for this video. My 2008 Toyota Highlander is "sick" and needs it's rear electrical components fixed. YIKES! Over a thousand dollars to fix, but the car is still a baby at 145,000 miles. I was just going to ignore it, but you emphasized having it checked out so I did. Not happy about the repair cost but better than buying a new car as a result of ignoring the warning lights.
I found you and you're so helpful.I have a lexus ES350 2008 and the VSC and engine light on and of .Tomorrow I am going to buy the gas cap and see what happens.
After a oil change and about 5 miles my check engine light and vehicle stability control system turns on and I cannot accelerate past 40 mph. Before this my car was fine. What does this sound like to you?
Certainly an engine issue. Its tempting to blame the oil change (DO check the oil!!), but cannot say for sure. You'll need a good tech soon as possible...
Wow am just watching this and I have the same issues on my 2012 Nissan Maxima last am on the highway when the stability light comes up and I can accelerate past 30-40 mph. I managed to drive to my mechanic and he say the airflow on the air filter so I change that that was this past Saturday and this afternoon on my way home the light came back on but I was like 3 minutes away from the mechanic shop so one of his boys checked it out and clean all the light and the car was fine too I drive home and tonight I start up the car and the engine light come up and I try to drive also the stability light also shows up I just park the car. So am this of taking the car to a different mechanic but did u have any idea of what is wrong.
My check engine, and traction control, and power steering all came on today. All orange. I am due for an oil change. I am pretty clueless about cars 🤦 any ideas? I have a 2014 Honda CR-V. TIA
I have the same lights on PLUS the tire pressure light. I have enough air in all four tires. Car does not slide/skid. Brakes work good. But my steering wheel was pretty loose a few days ago. Now its stiff when I turn corners. Only codes on vehicle is showing wheel speed sensor issue on front right wheel. Idk whats going on with my car. 🤷♀️😔
@@carladenise486 hello! When you find out the problem please let us know🥺 at first I only had tire pressure sensor light on and then out of no where a whole bunch of lights came on all at once and then about after 10m of driving my speedometer and eco light do not work anymore. Idk what It could be, never had any problems before with 2017 Camry 💔
I have a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500, My check engine light keeps turning on and when it does the traction control light turns on with it as well. It happens while I drive or even idle sometimes. When this happens I turn my truck off and then back on and the traction control light turns back off and the engine light stays on. The code is P0340 camshaft position sensor , I’ve changed it out multiple times with different sensors but this same cycle keeps happening over and over randomly. Any ideas what’s going on?
Well first, ignore the traction control light. It will resolve once the engine problem is resolved. Unfortunately, not much else I can add, although my code reading adds "...circuit malfunction", which suggests the sensor's power path has an issue. Let us know what u find...
Thanks so much for posting this. I just had my 2011 Toyota Tacoma in to have the front rotors turned 2 days ago, and this morning the chk engine and slip indicator came on. Don't know if this was a coincidence but went and checked the gas cap and was able to tighten it by a click or two. Since then I had stopped for gas, then drove 70 mi and the indicators were still lit at present. I'm wondering if the system needs longer to reset itself or perhaps do I need to disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset before purchasing a new gas cap? Thank again.
So first, no, it does not need longer to reset if the cap was loose. Second, you can disconnect the battery and hope for a reset, but it would be more expedient to have someone diagnose the engine problem...
@@DashboardSymbols Just went and had a scan at O'Reilly's and it was the gas cap...replaced w/ new. Indicator light cleared within a couple of seconds! Thanks again for your reply. Much appreciated!👍😀
Hi i have a question …. I got steering sign first and after few seconds i got check stability control and engine light and code is P2716 I have toyota camry 2017 … can you please help me if you know what should I do to fix my car … i went to mechanic he said change transmission filter and fluid… i did but same code is still coming back
Tranny fluid! Really. P2716 is a pressure control solenoid, but you'll need a GOOD mechanic or repair manual to nail down exactly what and where it is. The other lights will resolve once that's done...
Most helpful, thanks! I have a Honda CRV 2014. The steering wheel light, slidy light, engine light, and tire pressure light came on but drives good. I have repairs happening on the sixth of April (got in a minor accident in January finally can fix it). Can I wait till then or get it in sooner at a different place just to check it first?
@@alleninda912 I dont rightly remember but I needed some new wheel stuff and a new belt of some kind... It was expensive but I was told I was lucky I made it that long and not fallen apart on the road and been in a major crash. It was in the shop for three days.
I have a 2013 Mazda 3 skyactive. The check engine light and the skidding car lights are flashing. When starting the car it starts shaking, and the power keeps dying down. My husband changed the spark plugs, the ignition coils and the mass air flow sensor. It's still doing the same thing. I'm scared of driving it to AutoZone to diagnose because I'm worried it might turn off on the street. What could it be?
A couple days after my oil change i have the ESP error popping up and the tire pressure and traction lights come up on the dash. Now today my check engine light. What do you think the problem is?
If the engine light hadn't been added there may have been an answer. But with 4 lights, please find a good mechanic for a hands on diagnosis. And unless you're leaking oil, its not likely related to the oil change...
All these lights started to come on. When I turn on the AC it seems to idle worse and get shaky. I'm assuming it has something to do with the spark plugs and something misfiring
I had a engine light come on last week, Garage diagnosed and cleaned EGR valve and no engine light anymore, but after 3 days got the stability control on. No problems for 6 years and now suddenly 2 different problem in 5 days. Car is Chevrolet Orlando Auto Diesel in UK. The garage has tried to recalibrate/reprogram SWASM(Steering Wheel Angle Sensor Module) but stability control light is still on. He says we may need to order this part itself again online. Could something else be causing this ?
First, sorry, this question was not visible earlier. And yes, of course something else could cause the light to be on. Feels like something is missing. Assuming it is not simply turned off, has the car hit a curb or pothole recently??
My 2011 toyota camry with 174,900 miles has a check engine light as well as the slippery sign. I got my alternator replaced and the lights went off. 3-4 weeks later, both lights comes back on. My car has trouble starting when I pump gas (it had this issue before i got my alternator replaced too) any idea of what it may be?
I have the traction light on the check engine the steering wheel and the tire pressure light on, on a honda accord 2017 what can it be? the car is running ok so far,
Well, first, separate the tire pressure light and fill your tires. Cold weather. Second, address the engine issue (there IS one) and the other two lights will resolve. You'll need a good tech to help with the engine (DO make sure your gas cap is on tight...).
Can one of those easy fill gas tank things become loose like a regular cap? If so, how would I know? Can the gas itself be causing the check engine light to come on?
Ok, so difficult question. Going backwards, contaminated gas can cause the check engine light to come on, but the car would be running very badly. Its most likely a small vacuum leak, which is where the gas cap MAY come in. Regardless of cap type, there will be a seal where it contacts the pipe. However, its more likely that a good mechanic will be needed for a diagnosis...
@@DashboardSymbols issue with that is I had the dealership look it over & they never saw a problem. They use Sam's gas. I put gas from a different station the previous fill up & no light at all. Went to Sam's a few days ago bc I'm broke & it lit back up yesterday.
I have 2013 Honda CRV 73k miles Check engine, traction control and power steering lights all came on. It drives perfectly normal. When I get gas and drive it a couple miles the lights will go off but will eventually come back on. Been doing this for about 3 weeks. I had a shop read the codes but I have read that might not be any of the issues and could be a easier fix that I could do myself any suggestions? Thank You.
Thank You! That is on the list of things with the code. Said it could be that or engine time chain, timing chain kit, variable valve timing actuator, vetec solenoid valve or engine camshaft. Thanks for all your help sir.
My check engine light and the traction control light came on last night.I pulled to the side of road and turned off car and when I restarted it the lights cleared.I recently ran over a huge boulder in a canyon.Last week I had a wheel bearing replaced because of the rock I ran over. What do you think might be the problem? Thanks
Its simply not possible to determine from a distance. you'll need a proper hands on diagnosis. It can be said that likely as not there is some issue developing in the emissions system...
Ok, so two comments from you. First, here I would initially answer that there is an engine issue that needs to be addressed, because I assume you mean the check engine light is on. U then asked about brakes, and yes a brake problem would indeed impact the traction control! So, first, if there is a known brake problem, address it for safety's sake! And second, have the check engine light diagnosed and repaired...
This has been happening to my 2018 Silverado z71. The check engine light flashes then the skidding car comes on. Then it’ll all go away then come back later again.
@@alicekarimi5223 As the video suggests, it all starts with the engine light. And a hands on diagnosis will be necessary. One of the few things the average driver can do is make sure the gas cap is tight...
Would you mind elaborate what lights all went on? Over the last few days, my BRAKE, ABS, POWER STEERING, and TRACTION lights have gone on and stayed on for a few hours, then gone off shortly, come on again and then after being parked for a bit, they come on shortly and then turn off for a day and a half or so. Then it repeated the process again. Car is running totally fine...no issues whatsoever.
Ok so i have a 2015 jeep cherokee latitude. My traction control light comes on from time to time on its own and turns off on its own. A couple days ago I actually got a full Christmas tree including service trans, service emergency brake. Check engine came on and i pulled two codes p1daf for implausible torque requested and also p0562 which is pcm voltage low. It threw my jeep into limp mode. Anyway i cleared the codes and got it out of limp but the cluster still flickers accompanied by traction light and occasionally it shuts the radio off. I am stumped.
My 2012 Honda accord was due for an oil change a week ago but I was waiting for the following week to get my oil changed, after starting my car I noticed check engine light and ths VSC swirling car symbol was on I started to drive and upon accelerating a bit my car started to shake a bit, prior to this happening I was speeding to work all week while I still had my oil change pending, do you think that caused my issue
Unless your oill level was very low, its unlikely that simply being late for an oil change would create a problem. What you describe is more likely electrical, and needs a hands on diagnosis from a good tech...

Hello, I have Camry 2010, yesterday was snowing 🌨 a lot and when drove to home I saw in my dashboard on and off the stability signal , it’s that ok to drive it?
Well, first the slip warning is on because of the engine light. If the garage actually gave you the car back with the engine light on, please check the oil immediately. If the level is ok, there's likely something else at play and it will need a hands on diagnosis...
I have a question!!! I got a flat and got it fixed. My tire pressure light had already been on the dash. but the moment I got my flat tire changed, the traction control light came on and check engine. I had my O2 sensor changed, and I had a diagnosis, the mechanic said only thing that pops up is my catalytic converter. So after he changed my O2 sensor he reset the codes and next day after I drove home from work all the lights came back on? Do u know what this could be? Btw I have a 2011 Toyota Camry xle
Well, first its likely none of this has anything to do with the flat tire. No impact on the engine light, which is in control. Simply no way to diagnose from afar -- many, many, many possibilities. I would however, make sure the gas cap is tight and if it is, find a new mechanic to make sure you get a good diagnosis...

Honestly no. It could point to any number of issues with the rack and the rest of the front end. It sounds like you replaced it yourself, yes? So, did everything get properly aligned? Was the fluid purged of any air? Was it a used rack?? Etc., etc., etc. Have a good shop check it out...

Hey, appreciate all the good info. I have a 2005 Toyota crown v6 (215hp) RHD, vehicle drive great for a bit when I bought it, then one day out of the blue I get a check engine light, followed by a VCS. Steering was perfect one second, then tight a second later, no ps leaks or anything. Maybe an electrical issue? Would appreciate your thoughts
Not so much a chain reaction. Everything hinges on proper engine operation. All else then resolves. You're likely at the point of needing a Toyota dealer. Sorry, but they know the machine best...

Given the THREE lights, my first thought is physical damage: a pot hole, a curb, etc, and only on one side. But there's no way to see it and diagnose from afar, so you'll need someone more competent than used (I will say that it never hurts to have new tires). Hit anything recently?? Even just a little?
DashboardSymbols.com thanks for the answer. I might hit something but that was maybe on the other side and went under the car it was some plastic or metal thing went under both wheels.. anyway thanks for the advice!
Pretty much as the vid indicates: an engine problem needs to be addressed. Once done, the rest will turn off. What problem? No way to tell without hands on (but do make sure your gas cap is tight).
@@kingsleyuka7267 I was going to suggest it was a Toyota or Lexus. Which gives u ONE chance. Make sure the gas cap is tight and/or the seal on the cap is good. Cause car drives PERFECTLY NORMAL. Took it to 120 no problem, tried to spin in out and hilariously all 3 lights turned off but then came back 1 week later
Well, I may not be able to advise fully here, but the only reason why ALL the lights are on is that your system is reading an engine problem. Likely related to emission control. So long as the aftermarket stuff is involved, you will likely be stuck with it, it may cause other engine problems, and you may not pass emissions tests, if there are some where you are. A bad catalytic converter would indeed cause the check engine light to come on. That would shut off the VSC, so that light would come on. Not very likely that there is an issue with the VSC. But since they don't know that, I would find a better tech and get a second opinion on the engine issue...

All I can do is hope it doesn’t come back on. Anyone else have this problem come up?
Ok, wow, how unhelpful were they! Have not seen this particular issue come up. The code and diag are correct, which would make me look for a loose connection behind the inst panel and at the control module. Be better than paying for non help!! Good luck -- let us know how it comes together.
Not true. VSC traction control and check engine light turned on and slide into the lane and I was driving 20 mph slower on the freeway. It turned out the spark plug needed to me changed and set off all 3 lights and my car slide on a dry road.
@@DashboardSymbols something made my car slide which is the same thing that made the VSC traction control and check engine light to turn on. I was going 20 miles under the speed limit on a dry Road. So I had it towed to AutoZone they hooked it up to scanner and it turned out it was a bad spark plugs. So I got replaced and it works great now ever since then no problems whatsoever. I know I might not know anything about cars but I know what I experienced I was driving the damn thing for crying out loud. And that is what the scanner said it was. Whenever I got it fixed it runs like a new car. The problem was solved.
The check engine light turned on because the engine wasn't working properly and a bad spark plug can make the engine not work properly. So because of that it triggered the VSC and traction control light which caused it to slide.
What the code said was a cylinder misfire so I took it to go get fixed and it was a bad spark plug. Bad spark plug can cause a cylinder to misfire which can cause to check engine light to turn on and it take engine light that's on can turn off traction control in VCS causing the car to slide. For once the issue was resolved the car was running new again. That was the only major thing wrong with my car since I bought it.
GO get a check engine light test like I did they told me “P0172(1 / 1) Stored System Too Rich (Bank 1) DTC Severity 2 of 3: Repair immediately if drivability issues are present. Threat to essential” all I did was run the gas out and it went away but I bought a fuel injector cleaner used that then went to a big name busy gas station where I know it’s fresh gas and fill my tank up completely. Car was driving fine with the lights still driving fine as of now
I had 5 indicator lights come on at once yesterday and my car started running roughly, felt like it was going to misfire... just watched your video and took my gas cap off and put it back in tightly and all of the lights have gone off and its running normal again! Hallelujah!

Glad to help and glad you're being cautious. Not a good time for a problem, yes? Not that there ever is...
Thx!
Glad to help...
Should do the trick! Let us know...
Did it fix the problem?
Thank you for this video. My 2008 Toyota Highlander is "sick" and needs it's rear electrical components fixed. YIKES! Over a thousand dollars to fix, but the car is still a baby at 145,000 miles. I was just going to ignore it, but you emphasized having it checked out so I did. Not happy about the repair cost but better than buying a new car as a result of ignoring the warning lights.
145,000 miles is great service regardless of what it needs, but a some TLC is warranted. And happy to have helped...

Believe it or not, start by replacing the gas cap. "Feels" like a vacuum problem, starting at the cap...
Its spark plugs and or the ceramic plugs especially if it runs crappy at slow speeds and fine when you give it gas

I have a 07 Subaru. When I bout the car. The engine light and cruise and traction lights come on. I've had the diagnostic done. I was retold the traction light is the problem. Its AWD. And my car is losing gas. And now when I crank it up. The lights have went off. What would cause it to just go off the dasboard
First, traction control will NOT impact the engine, but an engine problem WILL turn off the traction control (so the light comes on). Why the lights are off I do not know, and I don't know what you mean by "losing" gas. Its time for a new mechanic...
My 2012 Jeep grand Cherokee traction and check engine light will come on when going up a steep hill and lose power

Wait a second! So you mean that if my check engine and VSC are on, than the problem might be to the engine?
I am have seen that when the engine light is coming on, afterwards the VSC is following it. But when I sent my car to a service today, they said me that catalyct system and VSC System, both have problems. But I don't believe them Tbh.
A bad catalytic converter would indeed cause the check engine light to come on. That would shut off the VSC, so that light would come on. Not very likely that there is an issue with the VSC. But since they don't know that, I would find a better tech and get a second opinion on the engine issue...
@@DashboardSymbols thanks for the response. I would buy a catalytic cleaner and would see what will happen.
@@TechSignn Probably won't help, but shouldn't hurt either...
@@DashboardSymbols I have read some catalytic cleaner reviews on Amazon, and they are saying that after using it the check engine light went of. I bought a OBDII, and even it gives me P0420 code failure, and says bank 1 efficiency below threshold. It doesn't complain for VSC light at all.

I hit a pot hole the size of Texas and it was fine until I got home shut it off and when I went to leave again all of my dash lights were in spedo not working fuel and temp Guage goes off and on randomly, check engine light, abs, traction, steering wheel and seat belt lights all on for no reason....I'm hoping it's one of the fuses....I use my car for work everyday and drive all day....I'm freaking out now....
Tata hexa vehicle how to remove stability control system fault show the Dash board pls help me?
Not much that can be done from a chair. Do check your tire pressures, but beyond that, you need a good mechanic to do a hands-on diagnosis. Did u hit a pot hole recently?? No matter what, find a good tech...
Hello. I have a Ford Explorer 2008 LT. last month my battery died. I had it jumped. Then it died again. I had it jumped a second time. The “Service RSC Now” warning popped up and then the traction.
I replaced the battery.
Eventually, the check engine light came on with a code for the PRNDL of the transmission. I had that replaced. The transmission shop says the computer has bad programming. I had the computer replaced in March. The dealership that replaced it claims the computer is fine, that it’s my after market Wheel Bearings losing signal and causing the lights to come on.
None of these lights/codes came on till I jumped my battery.
Any advice?
Thanks!!!!
Ok, a lot to unpack. First RSC and Traction are definitely related, so solving one will likely take care of the other. I have 2 questions: did u actually replace the computer? and Second, wheel bearings doesn't make sense. Maybe just Wheels???
@@DashboardSymbols yes we had the computer replaced or at least we paid for it!
I traded in the vehicle on Saturday. So I no longer had to deal with it. I just don’t like being lied to by a dealership service department or my concerns ignored and belittled because I’m not as educated in vehicle repair and they’re able to take advantage.

Hi! What about check engine, tcs and at lights on?
There is a serious issue, likely with the engine. Once a good mechanic takes care of that the other lights will resolve.

I drive a Chevy Impala 2010, and recently it started to do this thing where the Check Engine light and Traction Control light comes on. The engine power is reduced and my dash says to service STABILITRAK and service tire traction system. Most of the time it would go away on its own and the car would drive normally again, but it comes back every now and then. Any ideas?
So long as the check engine light is on, its NOT a stabilitrak issue. Have the engine codes read and get the resulting problems serviced. Stabilitrak will then resolve...
Did u found the problem
Even the obd 2 scanner said it was that. Replaced all 4 spark plugs and the wires and the coils and the car was running better than b4.
Recently my 2016 Tundra 4x4 has had random occasions where the check engine, ABS, Traction Control will all come on while driving. The truck seems to be running and driving fine. So I stop, turn off the engine and upon restarting it, sometimes, everything will reset to normal, ie. No warning lights. I took it O’reillys and Napa and their scan tool showed error U0155; abnormal communication with instrument panel. I took to the Toyota dealer and they couldn’t get any error codes! ? Told me to bring it back when the warning lights were on and charged me $197 for this expert diagnostic advice that didn’t find or fix anything! I called another Toyota dealer, described the issue and the U0155 code and after some research they said I’d have to bring it in while the lights were on. Right now it’s been off for over a week.
Have both lights but no check engine light
Well, all I can do is guess that one of the lights is the Off light. There's likely an issue with the system that's needs to be checked out...
Not true. VSC traction control and check engine light turned on and slide into the lane and I was driving 20 mph slower on the freeway. It turned out the spark plug needed to me changed and set off all 3 lights and my car slide on a dry road.
Evidently not true in your case. And be careful -- bad spark plugs won't cause a car to slide -- dry or wet road...
@@BryanG830 Turning off the VSC does not cause a car to slide, period. Hopefully, the tires are good...

GO get a check engine light test like I did they told me “P0172(1 / 1) Stored
System Too Rich (Bank 1)
DTC Severity 2 of 3: Repair immediately if drivability issues are present. Threat to essential” all I did was run the gas out and it went away but I bought a fuel injector cleaner used that then went to a big name busy gas station where I know it’s fresh gas and fill my tank up completely. Car was driving fine with the lights still driving fine as of now
The light test is always a good idea, but are u saying the light is still on?? If so, get reset done and if it comes back please find a good tech!!
