Thank you! I'm not entirely sure why your Escalade only does it when it gets hot, but sounds like maybe its something with the 4X4 differential. Sometimes if those get to warm the computer will shut off certain features like trac, all wheel drive etc. You can have it plugged into a diagnostic at Autozone for free if you want to try and get an idea of what's going on...

Ben Lindsey Kia Love so i was driving in my sentra tonight the wind was blowing hard my car started acting like it had no traction should i turn it on or off the next time im confused?

@@BenLindseyKiaLove Yeah, I have a 2008 Jeep Patriot North 5spd manual 4x2. I definitely turn it off when when there's ice on the road. (I'm in Montreal (Canada) we get creepy winters here now.)
Been searching for a demo of an AWD car (mainly Subaru) going up a muddy or snowy hill with this turned off and on to see the difference. Have not found one yet. Make one and you'll get a like from me. I do like your explanation the best so far, though. Thanks!
Thank you for the compliment. Man I had an Outback L.L. Bean V6 a while back. (Before my Channel) I have a gnarley driveway and I used to rip it up. I can't remember the trac/differential set up but...anyways I sold Subys several times and its all about which diff set up you have. There are some mechanical and some electric and some both. But that makes all the difference with the way your Subaru will interact with the CPU; IE stability track abs etc.. Some of the early 2000's were still mostly mechanical and they really didn't need any electric control! We used to go out to the trade in lot in the snow and try them all out! Anysways I gotta get another brew! Have a good night. Hope that helps your search.
Thanks for the reply, I have a 2014 Outback 2.5i Premium if that helps. I've read about turning the traction control off in snow and muddy conditions but was curious to see what the real difference is. Sounds like your driveway is the ultimate test track 😁
I was just trying it in my 2015 forester, up a shallow hill with slippery mud. Turning the traction control off made it notably faster. Also putting it in Low was better than in High/Normal.
Just wanted to mention, some of theses TC buttons are not mounted in the most visible locations. Our 2016 Subaru Limited Outback for example has this button mounted in the lower part of the dash down below the steering column. If you're not familiar with it's location, you're not going to find it when faced in a situation that requires it to be shutoff. So I strongly advice people to familiarize themselves with it's location as well as use.
you prolly dont care at all but does someone know a method to get back into an instagram account..? I somehow lost my account password. I appreciate any tips you can give me
Thanks, the stability icon lit while coming to a quick slow down approaching a speed bump.. I had no control. Going to check the manual for my Jeep Patriot 2008 manual transmission. Appreciate!
I think that is normal. I've noticed that happening when I go over a bump, or turn on a steep hill etc. If the wheels bounce or lift up up too high the system senses it and will start engaging the Traction control. This is one of those scenarios where the computer doesn't really know whats going on. Thanks for watching!
I always love a good compliment! Thanks man, I quit the car biz a few years ago. I'm in "software" now. Don't miss the winters but I miss my DEMO! Free car, tires, free brakes. Thank you for the video. I just got a Subaru Outback and before the first snow hits here, I want to know the best way to drive in it. I will turn off the traction control before I head into deeper snow.
I love Subaru's I had an Outback LL Bean V6. It was probably one of the nicest cars I've owned. Fun to drive too! The Subaru AWD will do a lot of the functions that trac, stablity etc. do for 2 wheel drive cars. It depends on which Subaru AWD setup you have. I would drive it with the Traction Control on first and see how it does. If it gets too deep or you want to do some sliding etc. then turn it off. You are going to really enjoy your Subaru this winter. Congratulations.

Great video brother thank you. I just purchased a 2006 sob and I’ve been trying to get information on it’s a SP button and now it specifically works for that make and model. So I wanted to ask if you could reference me to any videos or anyone I could speak to?! I literally just bought this and there’s a lot to figure out apparently. I’m pretty pumped!
I don’t know of any other info. I did sell Saab’s in 2004 though. But that’s been 16 years! Good luck enjoy your car and thanks for watching my channel.
Not really. In my experience the difference isn't really noticeable. And isn't worth losing the safety features in the long term. Now if you are talking about drifting or driving on a race track etc, where you need to be able to skid, powerslide or burnout etc that would be different. But for daily driving its good to leave it on.
Here is what happened: I was hosting a group of 10 people in a rented 15 passenger van with traction control in the Appalachian mountains. The driver of that van (not me) thought something was wrong with the vehicle because the traction control kept kicking in on wet mountain roads. She could feel the "bump bump" as the brakes came on, unexpectedly. Her solution was to drive the vehicle at about 5 mph on a road where other vehicles usually drive about 35 or 40. Needless to say, the locals and truck drivers on this mountain road quickly became enraged at the very slow 15 passenger van with out of state plates blocking the curvy mountain road where there was no place to pass. It created a very tense and dangerous situation because the driver (a nervous woman) refused to drive any faster because of the traction control. This is just a case where a safety feature can create a very dangerous situation. These rental agencies like Enterprise have to do a better job explaining to drivers how traction control works. Some people still dont understand Anti Lock brakes, and I had one professor who demanded to take the van back to the rental agency because the ant lock brakes kicked on and she insisted something was wrong wit the vehicle. Sheesh! Technology just creates new problems to aggravate us all.
Great comment! Thats exactly what I'm talking about. Perfect example. When I saw all of my customers wondering about it, I had to make a video. Thanks for commenting.
Great video 📹 👍 good to know appreciate if i had know that especially on a day like today i would actually give my Honda crv-lx 100% ratings instead of 90% because that's the only thing i should have done to get out of a skid.
very good video I have a question I am in Northwest Indiana we just got a lot of snow and it's still snowing now would I keep the traction off ? I watched another video and the guy said ... why would you want to keep traction off .. he didn't say it to me but on his video so this has got me all confused I have a 2016 Nissan Rogue . Would it matter if I just do what you mentioned and go old school which I am old lol 68 yr and just keep it off even during the winter and snow .Thank you and God Bless.
Hi, No I would leave it on all the time unless you get stuck. Every time you turn on the car the system is ready to go. It helps you drive in snow and ice. If it maxes out when you are stuck then turn it off to try to get loose. But otherwise leave it on all the time. Thanks for watching.
No Problem. Yeah its best to leave it on, but sometimes you will have to turn it off. It will be rare but its nice to know you can. Thanks for commenting.

💪🏿💪🏿👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿 Ben. I drive a 2005 Mitsubishi Pajero GLS 3.0L Petrol, over here in the tropics. Incidentally, when I hit a rut or one wheel goes off the ground, that light starts blinking a bit till car is out of the rut. The light then goes off. I'm wondering, does this mean the Traction control system activate itself? There is a button for it, which I never touch.
Yes that just means the system is currently working. It should default to ON every time you turn the car on. That sounds like normal working behavior. That wheel that gets off the road is trying to get back in sync with the others. It sounds like it is working fine. Where are you watching from?
The light apper and it’s not dissapeering. Should I be worried about ? Tomorrow I have to make a long trip and drive for 10hours and I’ll be on highway as well. Ty
Well your Traction Control and other safety features like that may not be working. I would have it checked out as soon as you can. But if you have to make your trip just be extra careful if it rains.
@@funnnkyk1dOf course if it is safety sometimes it's worth checking anyways. But if it was me I would let it go and see if it comes back on. It could be an unusual circumstance with water or temperature or something like that. If it does not come back on in a couple days, you should be ok. If it does come back on then you know something is wrong.
Dude, thanks for commenting. I had a license to sell Dodges when those came out. They were so hot! I had a place on the lot for them and the truck would unload 6 or 7 and they would be gone! Retro was hot hot hot then and the Nitro was the bomb! Please subscribe!
Hey Michele, Most of the time you will want to leave it on. It will be ON automatically when you turn on the car. Usually this is fine. But if you are having problems driving normally in the snow, when you are stuck, or going up a hill, deep snow, etc. it gives you another option to try! Just depends on the situation. But 99% of the time on is the way. Thanks - Ben
HI - Finally a good description. Question... when the TCS is OFF... light is ON.... Is the drive train in 4 wheel drive or 2 wheel drive or powered with with 1 wheel (limited slip differential)?
Hey, Well that depends on what vehicle you have. The Trac will turn off whether it is in 2 or 4wheel drive. Most cars these days have a differential but it just depends on the make and model on how it operates. What do you drive?
My advance Trac and power steering now, is on. My cars front right tire spends and yes, car jerks and will cut off. I have to cut it on sometimes one time sometimes five. It's not fun when you are in traffic. So cutting off Trac will help it. Not the codes behind but least my car from cutting off? Also, I replaced my steering and it didn't help. Everything locked up and cut back on next day. Freaking stressed out! Hoping this will least help from the car cutting off. If I cut traction off.
@@BenLindseyKiaLove i took it to my mechanic. I don't have money to take to an actual dealer. It's just braking itself. Cut off. Takes me an hour to get home when should take me thirty minutes. Im driving me back up car
I have a 2010 ford fusion and that button has helped me every time I've ran into an icy patch. it prevents me from totally losing control of my car in icy conditions
My Antara has the TC Button. Sometimes it will display both Traction and Traction off and no matter how many times i press the button they won't go off? So, everytime i brake you get a normal brake pedal then the crunchy bit as TC kicks in. My first question is: Will this have an adverse effect on my braking capability. My second issue is sometimes, usually once i get a bit of speed up the 4WD Light comes on and flashes. But what this also does is stops the TC kicking in?
Thanks for explanation. Then you suggest that it is safer to keep the TCS "on" in normal situation. Just to turn it "off" when the car stuck in snow or mud. Right? Is this system reduce the car performance in normal situation when it is "on"?
Yes it should be on except for in those few rare situations. It doesn't hurt the cars performance when on in normal easy driving. If you want to drive it faster it might limit your turns etc just a little bit but it is worth leaving it on for the safety full time. Really the software/algorithms are so good in many of the newer cars that they actually help performace. The better ones even make you a better driver. Unless you want to do a burnout or something!! Then tun it off.
How do you reset the ESC Off light? We just changed our alternator. Everything is golden but the ESC Off light is showing on the dash; pressing the button does nothing. New TIPM about a year a year ago. Battery is charging golden. Suggestions?
@@BenLindseyKiaLove Thank you so much. Well, something is whacked. We put in a new TIPM in January so when things didn't resolve w/new alternator we thought it might be a bad TIPM. Spare tire is new and others are worn, so perhaps using your spare tire (especially if it is a donut) results in a VERY different diameter tire. This is also when you should turn this button off - until you get (4) same diameter tires, as in all equally worn (and all the same size diameter in case you bought larger tires and your spare is a smaller stock tire)? Any doubters?
That is another great idea I had not thought of. I had a Subaru for a while so I am used to the concept. I will think about that and maybe try to add it to a new video. Thanks for the intel!
That was very informative. Chevy Cruzes have an issue displaying "Service Stabilitrak" right before a power failure in the radio, power-steering and even entire car. In many cases, including mine, this power failure happens when the wheels are turned. Fortunately for me, it's been when I was parking. In my case, once power is lost, my keys are stuck in the ignition, and I have to pop the hood and tap the battery. So far in the 3 times I've done this, power is immediately restored when the battery is tapped, and I can get my keys out of the ignition. Could Stabilitrak be interfering with the power? Do you think I should disable Stabilitrak to avoid this issue? Thanks
I like your videos, I took my car to change the tires, but ever since they change my tires I have been having problems with the track lights, I would be driving and the light would turn on and it makes a sound like if the brakes are really tied and it won't let me drive more than 5 mph and is only in the left front tire that sounds like that, do you know what it might be?
It sounds like the brake is hanging up. Like sticking. They may have damaged a sensor in the wheel area. Like a wheel speed sensor or an ABS sensor. If it happened right after they worked on it, I would take it back to them as soon as you can. They might not want to admit it, but see if they will work with you to figure it out.

Yeah you know its getting slick when it starts coming on all the time. Safe driving and thanks for the comment.

Yes that is true. I just got a new car and its way under the dash. Down by my knees. Thanks for the comment!
Yes, this feature saved me on as lot occasions, thanks Kia for this feature.

Hey! Thanks I appreciate you watching and commenting.

Congratulations.
thankyou.i got a trackrod end fitted to front offside of my juke now that light was coming on and car was stop start running like a cow.so i will try this what you said cheers fae scotland.

No problem, glad I could help. Thanks for commenting.
great video. question: if i turn it off during normal, dry driving conditions, will i notice any difference in performance or acceleration? thanks..
Not really. In my experience the difference isn't really noticeable. And isn't worth losing the safety features in the long term. Now if you are talking about drifting or driving on a race track etc, where you need to be able to skid, powerslide or burnout etc that would be different. But for daily driving its good to leave it on.
@@BenLindseyKiaLove sounds good, thanks!
It's the DSC kicking in, NOT the traction control! ;)
Good explanation. Thanks for posting.
Thanks I worked on that a long time when i sold cars. 10 years in the making! Thanks for watching.

Now I know that I'll be able to chirp around corners now.. knowing that my accelerator won't bog down in first.

very good video I have a question I am in Northwest Indiana we just got a lot of snow and it's still snowing now would I keep the traction off ?

I did my trip.. i drove aprox 700 km today. The light has dissapeer by its on. Should I still check it?
@@funnnkyk1dOf course if it is safety sometimes it's worth checking anyways. But if it was me I would let it go and see if it comes back on. It could be an unusual circumstance with water or temperature or something like that. If it does not come back on in a couple days, you should be ok. If it does come back on then you know something is wrong.

Thanks for watching. Glad it helped and have a great new year.
Thank you!!! Had no idea. Do you suggest it off or on in Chicago snow? Like not just when im stuck but driving?
Boy I don't know on that one. Are you taking it to a GM dealer for the Advance Trac?
@@BenLindseyKiaLove i took it to my mechanic. I don't have money to take to an actual dealer. It's just braking itself. Cut off. Takes me an hour to get home when should take me thirty minutes. Im driving me back up car

I have a 2010 ford fusion and that button has helped me every time I've ran into an icy patch. it prevents me from totally losing control of my car in icy conditions
Yeah sometimes its better to switch to manual control! Thanks for the comment!
Sorry it took me so long to answer. There is definitely something wrong there. Hope you got it fixed.
stay focused bro !

Thanks from Egypt
Egypt! Gnarley.
I'm not sure. They may have to reset some codes at the dealer or mechanics...
@@BenLindseyKiaLove Thank you so much. Well, something is whacked. We put in a new TIPM in January so when things didn't resolve w/new alternator we thought it might be a bad TIPM. We returned it and had them send us a new one (under warranty). It is installed and while the ESC light is off, we are still having electronic issues; for example, the rear defrost blinks for the first 30-60 seconds when you start the car. At this point, we're just laughing and shaking our head. Our rule of thumb is when it becomes more expensive to repair a car than what it's worth it might be time for the grave yard. We're hesitant to do so because we put a brand new ($4000) tranny in a year ago. Thought about going back to a horse but there would be high feed and vet bills hahahahaha. I wish my journey had an on button for manual all wheel drive too, because mine doesn’t turn on too often or when I’m already sliding out of control.
Yeah its too late by then! I'm not sure why some cars don't have buttons for some of that.
Thanks
Thank you very much for the info! Winter time in Chicago, I needed to know this.
No problem! Think about Subscribing, I will be doing more winter driving videos. Thanks for the comment.
@@BenLindseyKiaLove thank you, they did not want to admit it was their mistake, took it to another place and they said it was a sensor and they will fix it thank you.
