- This jewelry tutorial will help the beginning jewelry student learn the sawing & piercing techniques of the jeweler's saw frame.
Greg Greenwood answers the questions: How do I hold the saw frame? How do I put the blades into the saw? How much tension do I put on the blades? How do I sit when sawing? Why do I keep on braking blades?
Take a close look at this amazing tool and take the mystery out of the jeweler's saw frame, helping you become comfortable when you saw and pierce your sterling silver designer craftsman jewelry.
These lessons on the basics are always worth a watch even if you’ve heard it all before or you’re already a professional. There’s always something you can learn (at least one thing) that you wouldn’t have learned if you skipped it because it seemed too basic.
Hello wigglesworth, Very true. Thanks for watching. Greg Greenwood
I am silversmith in cali fornia,Thank you for teaching, your Best. GURU.
Hello noormemon, You are very welcome. Thank you for watching! Greg Greenwood
Great video--clear and helpful I like the blue shirt
Thank you for the comments. Happy jewelry making! Greg
I had been misaligned with my sawing! THANKS!
Hello Gwen, Glad I could help! Greg Greenwood
This did help me a lot this is one area of jewelry making that I just couldn’t do, I couldn’t load my blades right I didn’t know what blade with the right one to use. And the technique of sewing how are you set and how your saw is used and moving that silver instead of trying to make the blade move around a silver. Well I’m gonna give it a try again. I’m so happy that you had a video on the jeweler saw. I like that your videos show every step and the tools you used. God bless you
Hello Deborah, Glad it helped! Greg Greenwood
Awesome Greg, great video, I would love to see one on how to set up a workshop, shelving options, bench position, casting station all that kind of stuff.
Keep up the good work!
Hello Woodengold, Thanks for your suggestion. I will be doing one in the future. Keep watching! Greg Greenwood

@@greggreenwood4628 wow, thanks so much, Greg. It’s been a life-long dream of mine - love working with metal and with my hands. The cost of getting started has been tough, but a ring of mine got damaged, and in my quest to fix it, I’ve fallen for the art. Thanks for your generous contribution of time to RUclips to help us out!

Thanks, Greg, this video is fantastic! Your instructions are thorough and clear, the video work is great (really appreciated the side view while sawing, to see the position and motion of the frame.) The floating, spinning "magic saw-frame" is a great touch. :) Making my way through your other videos, and looking forward to future ones!
Hello robotwarlock, Thank you for your kind comments. I am very glad I can help you. The spinning saw frame was fun to do! Glad you appreciate it. If you have any questions in the future, please feel free to let me know. Thanks again. Greg Greenwod

I finally got some silver delivered, but I ordered 12gauge, and received 30 gauge. So while I wait for the replacement silver to come, I have a few days to catch up on all this well presented information that Mr. Greenwood is nice enough to produce for us. Cheers
Enjoy. Greg Greenwood
