- Jeweler's Saw Blade sizes explained! What size of saw blade do I use when I saw thick or thin gauge metal? Greg Greenwood takes the confusion out of which saw blade to use. Take a close look at the teeth to compare!
When I began sawing for the first time I found myself reaching for 2/0 blades and boy did I go thru those fast😜 now that I have more experience I enjoy using thinner blades 4/0 and even 5/0 for fine work 3/0 for everything else. Love your videos! My friend sent me your link today and recommended I watch and I am so grateful she did!! Cant wait to see more.
Hello, I am glad you have advanced to the smaller blades. It really makes a difference with fine work and WOW does it feel good when you finish sawing your project and you haven't broken a blade!! Keep up the good work. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know. Thanks for your kind comments. Greg Greenwood

Hello Charles, Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching. Greg Greenwood
@@greggreenwood4628 my pleasure, you have a new subscriber too now ;) and i clicked on that bell thing that will tell me when you have new videos out also so please keep them coming, I have been doing a bit of jewellery as a hobby for the last 5 or so years and I am just getting to the end of my gross of sawblades I got with my starter kit, your video opened my eyes to the importance of using the right tool for the right job and therefore have ordered a mixed blade selection to try and refine my work, I have been known to take a hacksaw to a kilo of silver to cut off the face of it and make a ludicrous 275g belt buckle... refine being the word
Thanks for sharing your knowledge
Hello Charles, I had to laugh picturing you cutting the kilo of silver with a hacksaw!! Thank you for your comments and I appreciate your support. Let me know how it goes. Greg Greenwood

Excellent! Greg Greenwood
I don’t know if you meant to put a bit humour by how you answer the common questions its funny, but very interesting... I’ve recently tried to cut a somewhat thick metal rod with a very small saw.. no wonder it was slow. Thanks
Glad I can help. Greg
Hi there Greg thanks for the video. I am new to using a jeweler saw and I'm trying to learn which blade would work best for my projects as I will not be cutting a single gauge wire but a twisted wire with wires of 16 down to 10 gauge combination. Two 10 gauge wires twisted will result in a much thicker gauge wire which would mean I would need to use a different type of saw for the job? The number 10 blade cuts down to 11gauge.. please let me know your thoughts on this. I'm mainly only working at cutting twisted wire and the cuts must me very fine/straight. Thanks in advance
Hello Dharmakaya, Thanks for your question. If you were sawing sheet metal, then I would recommend the larger blades. But, you are sawing wires that are twisted together. The larger blades will catch on the cut edges and will not be a smooth cut. I would use a small blade either : #1/0 or #4/0. These blades will cut a slower, but will give you a nice smooth cut. Hold your wires firm when you cut and you will be very happy with the results. Good Luck Greg Greenwood
Very Cool. How is your editing So good? Enjoy your evening xo
Hi Song, Thanks for your interest. Working hard is the only way. Thanks again. Greg
