This has got to be Frank’s favorite series. You just know he loves to figure out just how absurd and expensive he can make even the simplest of recipes
I love this series for two reasons 1) it teaches you that even a novice home chef can make a fairly complex recipe 2) it gives you some great ideas to try in your simple at home recipes
I love that Frank is Mr. High End Organic Single Origin Heritage Ingredients, but also shamelessly squirts the canned whipped topping directly into his mouth, and admits to eating the bright red cherries from the jar.
Frank: For me to make my sundae, I first have to get milk from my personal herd of cows, my organic fruits grown in my specially built greenhouse, and eggs from my immense chicken coop. Daniel: To make my sundae, I just go to my local 7-11 and get whatever I can find. 🤣🤣
This show is just marvellous. Like 4 Levels, it's a fantastic blend of entertainment and education, in addition to being a great source of inspiration. Thank you!
Entertainment? It's the same script in every video of this format. The persons itself are just really cool, balancing the script they follow and I can't see
I'm really glad they got to start meeting and trying each other's versions of their dish. Was definitely a great addition to this show, Daniel finally got to meet Frank on camera!
I love this series, and it's always interesting to see how the pros reutlize the ingredients they're given. I do hope to see a dual series one day where they each make their original planned, and then the swapped version.
Basically this show is for the professional chefs to both make an ultimate recipe and show their skills by elevating the very simplest of ingredients. Love it from the first episode!
I liked this episode where Frank talked about all the components of his recipe covered the "what was the pro thinking?" aspect that you'd get from a chef making his own stuff. There's a lot of those already.
Oh my! I was just blown away by Daniel saying Maraschino "Original". As a French person, I've never been more impressed. I mean that's a hard word to say right in French and oh man did he nail it. 10/10!!
The man who was planning on making maraschino cherries 🤯 is now gonna MacGuyver (old enough to picture that reference) a corner shoppe run for munchies - - Chef Frank., folks. Looking forward to seeing Daniel wholesomely himbo his way through it 😅😅😅 Epicurious thank you for keeping it interesting 🥰
Whenever a cooking show is trying to demonstrate the consistency that you are looking for they talk about what it should do to the back of a spoon. That's fine but they only show what success looks like, never failure. Maybe a quick video demonstrating all the typical thicknesses of sauce over time would be useful/interesting.
what would be the point? the show isn't trying to be a tutorial, so they don't have to give the audience exact guidance. if you want to replicate the recipe on your own time, you should do more research into methods before starting and you'll find all the custard-making know-how you need
I really enjoyed this video with Daniel! He is so much fun! And Frank… oh dear Frank… your capacity to make things harder it’s outstanding but so cool, not gonna lie there hahaha
Love this series! So entertaining and educational, and I love their personalities/humor! Would love to see an episode where two pro chefs get each other's fancy ingredients and see what they make instead. And I would like to see the pro chef get their expensive ingredients at least once!
How many years have we been watching Epicurious? I don’t know, but this episode of Swap Ingredients is my favorite. Why, you ask? You know why… because it’s two recipes for sundaes! Banana splits are my all time favorite dessert. I am wondering what are the fave desserts of other Epicurious fans. Thanks, Epicurious, for all your quality content.
Could just be me but Daniel's hands looked like they were shaking when he was assembling the sundae. I'd react the same way with all those expensive ingredients and labour he pulled in the day before, seems nerve-wracking, but entertaining nonetheless XD But dang those are really good sundaes. I may wanna try Frank's methods sometime
Well, my gf wanted an ice-cream maker so I got her one. Needless to say I also had to give it a go. So far the rum-raisin-cinnamon experiment was probably the most tasty. We also own a Springlane and I would really advise to buy one with active cooling via compressor. It takes some skill and some testing to determine the right proportions of ingredients, but boy does it feel good to nail it.
Omg i love what frank did with the whippped cream (spraying directly in the mouth). Everytime we had dessert at my and there was whipped cream our dad sprayed so much into our mouth bc we liked the taste that we were barely able to close it. It‘s the small things in live ❤😂
My sundae: Homemade brownies as a base, ice cream (flavor may vary depending on my mood), and topped with whipped cream, macerated strawberries, and mini chocolate chips. Maybe toasted sliced almonds as well.
i love this whole series and channel it's so wholesome ! this duo was very nice to see and the results, amazing !!! I have an idea, I would like to see a Pro vs Pro series where the producers just give them random ingredients and tell the chefs to do whatever and at the end have them meet and share their plates to see how each chef creatively thinks and can come up with a different plate or who knows maybe even the same dish ! just an idea ! cheers from your biggest fan in Colombia amigos !
Frank missed an opportunity with the canned cherries. They are in juice. Maybe mix a little of that juice with the melted ice cream for a cherry syrup? Or just reduce it into a simple syrup? Great episode! Lots of ideas! Had to eat some ice cream while I watched it!
I know Daniel wouldn’t be selecting those level 1 ingredients if this was 4 levels! It’s so interesting to see the cross between this series and 4 levels. Looks like he enjoys the more complex cooking here
This has got to be Frank’s favorite series. You just know he loves to figure out just how absurd and expensive he can make even the simplest of recipes
Also proves how talented he is when he uses affordable ingredients!
Yes!
@@elizavetavinokurova7624 it is. or at least to the ones who pays for all his shenanigans lol

Frank also really loves taking the simple ingredients and master-cheffing the hell out of them.
I love this series for two reasons
1) it teaches you that even a novice home chef can make a fairly complex recipe
2) it gives you some great ideas to try in your simple at home recipes
I love that Frank is Mr. High End Organic Single Origin Heritage Ingredients, but also shamelessly squirts the canned whipped topping directly into his mouth, and admits to eating the bright red cherries from the jar.
Ha! Right? He’s hilarious :)
That's a man who truly loves food.
_That_ was a highlight! Frank is a true food connoisseur but _not_ a food snob.
Frank: For me to make my sundae, I first have to get milk from my personal herd of cows, my organic fruits grown in my specially built greenhouse, and eggs from my immense chicken coop.
Daniel: To make my sundae, I just go to my local 7-11 and get whatever I can find.
🤣🤣
LMAO!
how you going to get milk if you havent started by rearing a calf to adulthood
He also has to forge his own knives and built his own kitchen brick by brick
We need Pro Chef & Pro Chef Swap Ingredients... and when I say pro chef, I mean Frank and Saul...
YEESS
Just bring them all in.
YES!
yes to specifically them paired up please!!!!!

HAHAHHA U MUG
frank is slowly becoming more unhinged and i love it
When Frank said "I am Wizard Harry"😂😁😁
It's got that same level of "I can cook, Joe" from Gordon Ramsay
i can tell frank has so much fun making his recipes as expensive as possible hahaha
Or as complicated as possible. Kinda hard to tell with Frank.
You can tell that Frank just *loves* to troll the other chefs with his ingredients.
I also love it how he ends up loving the dish with his ingredients in the end.
Daniel is like a human Golden Retriever. 🎉
Noooo 😭😭😭😭 why is this so true

It started out like that and they only removed that part during quarantine for safety purposes

that makes two of us
three actually
Four here lmao
Nah five
Ahhh, six!!
for someone who's been watching this for a longggg time, daniel's really grown into his style. you're looking very *chef's kiss* good!
Daniel is always great to watch but his personality goes to 💯 in this episode!
He went a long ways from putting blackberries into his grilled cheese.
Sexual harassment and objectification go both ways.
@@mansfieldfamily5389 sure they do! not sure what this has to do with my comment tho
@@trevorpacelli8056 i hear you! but consider... it's actually really good! berries and cheese work!
i was so apprehensive because i was like wtf can frank even do here? Frank always shocks me with his ingenuity
It's like the chef wins on both the sides! His personal recipe is incredible and then he developed a whole new recipe to elevate the other one too!
I love this series, and it's always interesting to see how the pros reutlize the ingredients they're given. I do hope to see a dual series one day where they each make their original planned, and then the swapped version.
To be honest i would'nt be suprised if Frank sailed out to Tahiti just for those vanilla beans
😂
I’m pretty sure he has a house in every location he grows his ingredients 🤔
The world is his pantry
I can just imagine frank having his trip cancelled because of Covid and saying: “But- but- but vanilla beans ☹️”
When i thought i couldn't possibly love Frank's persona on these any more than I do, the throws in a flawless Harry Potter joke. Just amazing.
I love it when they call Rose, she is awesome
Basically this show is for the professional chefs to both make an ultimate recipe and show their skills by elevating the very simplest of ingredients. Love it from the first episode!
Do a new series where the pro chef actually makes his own recipes
I'd like to see pro chefs swap recipes
@@Miglow with no reference at all
I get your point, but they are making 4 levels, which is SIMILAR. I don't think it will worth them another type of show (however I would watch it)
Pro chefs swap ingredients
I liked this episode where Frank talked about all the components of his recipe covered the "what was the pro thinking?" aspect that you'd get from a chef making his own stuff. There's a lot of those already.
I enjoyed the change to how the pro chef didn't add any extra ingredients but relied on their skills. Bravo!
Oh my! I was just blown away by Daniel saying Maraschino "Original". As a French person, I've never been more impressed. I mean that's a hard word to say right in French and oh man did he nail it. 10/10!!
Frank: _magically McGuyver's a super extra sundae_
Danie: _behaves super extra_
"Don't use wax paper or they'll taste like crayon"
That face says "ask me how I know" 🤣
I'm impressed that they both guessed the price within 2 dollars!
Really enjoy watching Frank and Daniel on this series. I have my personal favorites that really draw me to watch this series.
This two together are just awesome!! You can tell they are fans of each other and have fun...

Epicurious has a Method Mastery and a 101 series, I could see a demonstration like that fitting in a video for either series!
what would be the point? the show isn't trying to be a tutorial, so they don't have to give the audience exact guidance. if you want to replicate the recipe on your own time, you should do more research into methods before starting and you'll find all the custard-making know-how you need

as an Argentinean, I'm impressed at how good Daniel is at pronouncing dulce de leche lmao. Greetings yall, this is one of my fave series
I suspect he has latino ancestry?
I think he mentioned he had Spanish ancestry in a previous video, either that or Portuguese.
