$250 vs $20 Pot Pie: Pro Chef & Home Cook Swap Ingredients | Epicurious
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 16 сен 2021
- The original Ingredient Swap duo is back! Expert chef Frank Proto from the Institute of Culinary Education and home cook Lorenzo are trading pot pie recipes and hitting the kitchen. We set Lorenzo up with $250 worth of ingredients and Frank's recipe while sending a modest $20 worth of goods back the other way. Now, $20 worth of supplies is usually more than enough to make a solid pot pie - but we’re talking about Frank here. What tricks does he have up his sleeve to improvise his way up to gourmet?

Lorenzos late reaction …ooh that’s fancy
They really are the best!
This was a blast to shoot. Great to see Lorenzo and the crew in person again.
I watch ANY and EVERY video as long as your in it!
And it's great for us to watch you guys on screen together again, feels nostalgic as I remembered my first pro vs home cook series featuring you two back then in late 2019
Hi chef Frank! Everyone loves this series and yours and Lorenzo's dynamic. I learn so much too. Thank you so much for teaching me new skills, new words, and helping me reimagine what food can be. 😊
It's sad how the world has destroyed social interaction to the point where you're sitting there with a shocked "they're allowed to do that???"
Don't ever let anyone tell you your bit of salt is too much. In my opinion, you use the perfect amount, and I always add more after the food is just finished cooking, cause it adds so much.
This series is just Lorenzo slowly losing his sanity from the hours of cooking Frank’s dishes 😂
Yess

“Frank, I swear to God.” 🥘
He was really unhinged this episode! It was great!
Frank poking the Pillsbury dough boy and saying "Hee Hee" is everything
I giggled
My reaction was: I saw everything and, now I can die in peace
*hee hee*
4:05 or 4:04 for anyone who needs it :))
As soon as he did that I RAN to the comment section. Love it!
The serotonin boost we all wanted and needed.
This duo legitimately made me happy
I was looking for that honestly!
I mean we all love Lorenzo and Frank but, Anyone else gonna mention Rose's adorable giggle when Lorenzo pointed out they're wearing the same coloured shirt?
doctor rosemary trout is one of the most adorable humans to walk this earth, i adore her
We love Rose THE food scientist
we don't all love Lorenzo. He's one of the most annoying people on this series.
@@itsgoingtobeok-justbreathe4808 thank you random person replying to a comment I posted 2 years ago. I shall watch this video again and enjoy myself.
They need their own show!!
Not the same but frank has his own channel called protocooks, he recently collabed with emily
And on another video someone posted Lorenzo's IMDB profile, he is a professional entertainer. I think it said he was in "Orange is the new black"
Yas, we need a dedicated yt channel for Frank vs Lorenzo videos

Next episode frank about to go to a newly formed planet for “fresher” ingredients 😂
🤣🤣🤣
Best intro ever, with Lorenzo’s reaction to nearly BBQing himself… The first ever time I saw Lorenzo, I thought he was too over-the-top. The. I watched more and realised he’s just a genuinely idealistic and optimistic and cheerful guy. And Frank is as authentic as they come. Love them both, and Rosemary completes them… :)
Heheheh him BBQing himself was really funny. I'm a burnt filipino, overcooked. "Just a cooked filipino."
I didn't even know he was filipino
Rose is really underrated.
I love it because you can tell Lorenzo feels like he's in over his head, but he still ends up making beautiful food, with Frank showing us you don't need high-end ingredients to make something wonderful.
Those two are marvelous together!!
I heard Frank grew the tree for the chopping board himself.
Wouldn’t surprise me
He used a branch from the and boiled iron in his hands and cooled it with his eyes to makemthe ax
In a different video (either on Epicurious or his own RUclips channel), Frank does show us a spoon that he did carve on his own from wood
Ok and? Like if u wanna hate get out
@@Ur_Girl_Racha Who’s showing hate here?
"I don't drink sherry, I don't use sherry, I don't have sherry, so... this is sherry."
For the love of God, Lorenzo.
I know, right? The stuff is basically liquid sauce-be-great though I do usually prefer the sweet sherry as cooking with dry spirits can make balancing out the flavours rather tricky.
For the love of God, Montressor!
@@lindafreeman7030 loving the cask of amontillado reference
I see the Edgar Allan Poe reference there!

FINALLY A PART 2! FRANK MUST HAVE FINALLY FINISHED MAKING HIS OWN CHICKEN FARM!
Sooo true tho
actually, it may be a Duck farm?
@@nabe8866 I got excited and commented before I saw it was duck xD
This pair goes together like PB and J
Frank giving us a little of history of himself is adorable af made me more believe he's a great chef and a very humble cool dude
His own RUclips channel (ProtoCooks with Chef Frank) is great for that. He's pretty open about his strengths and weaknesses, and isn't afraid to show how cooking can be a bit of a mess sometimes. A lot of his videos will encourage a bit of trialling to get things right, and he'll talk about how it took him a while to get some of the recipes and techniques down as well. He's quickly become one of my favourite cooking channels on RUclips.
I'm a simple woman, I see Frank and Lorenzo, I click.

I'm smiling the whole time watching this. This is like having your fave uncles in your kitchen over the weekend.

Proud to say Lorenzo is my old friend. I knew him as a struggling actor in NYC about 10 years ago. One of the funniest people I’ve ever met to this day. Just naturally so hilarious. If SNL gave him a chance, he’d be a star of the show.
No better dynamic than with these two 😩🙌🏼

"Frank. I swear to god." -Lorenzo under breath.
Me, furiously typing: "Lorenzo... You know you love it..."
That hug was a whole mood and a punch straight in the feels and I’m here for it

Like i said before...
When it comes to Frank and Lorenzo..
There's always a Mushroom sitting around there on its Mighty and Highness
Its the moment we've all been waiting for. Frank showing lorenzo his ways and teaching him the arts of growing everything from scratch
So much fun you guys. I love this series. I think Lorenzo doesn’t give himself enough credit for his cooking skills. Frank, laminating that store bought crust was brilliant. I actually learned a lot of great techniques today.
I don't know what you people are watching. The guy gives himself TOO much credit.
Frank should have sent Lorenzo a live duck.
List it in the ingredient book as "fresh duck".
Everyone has hardships in their life, Lorenzo’s is Frank just listing ingredients.
They need to do one of these with them side by side in the same kitchen with the ingredients swapped. It will be chaotic but will be too much fun to watch.
Frank will be done in no time and then Lorenzo just laugh hysterically. 😅😅
Love how Frank is the father of everyone at Epicurious.
Give lorenzo some love he's always super happy ❤💯
Precisely why he’s try hard cringe influencer artifice
frank is actually swerving off into higher dimensions where the pot has corners
Today’s a good day when not only Frank uploads a video on his channel (ProtoCooks for those who aren’t following him already), but he and Lorenzo are in a cheap vs expensive video together.
Loved loved loved it when Frank poked the boxes Pillsbury Dough Boy and said "hee hee"! Priceless 🤣🤣🤣🤣
20:58
This. This right here. The moment you see Lorenzo's eyes light up asking if Frank was there. That was everything to me! I absolutely love these two!
Setting aside the two personalities we all know and love for a minute... this is just a beautiful episode of this series. It really is. I came into this knowing that I don't like Duck Pot Pie (I just don't, I have had it several times from different places and its just not for me)... but Lorenzo did such a great job, genuinely great job making it... and its such a smart recipe. And Frank did something I never thought to do, which was roast the frozen vegetables in the oven with chicken fat and seasoning. I usually just use hot water and let them soften that way, before putting them under a light and covering them with a paper towel. But the roasting method really is just incredibly smart.
I love Pot Pies. Its one of my favorite dishes (just not Duck). And even though I've made them a million different ways over the years, this was just a really cool showcase that there are still new and interesting ways to do it.
Seeing Frank and Lorenzo together again has healed my pandemic depression ❤️
At this point, Lorenzo is way more than just a home cook.
Yeah, he's a home baker now too
I really enjoy watching the "at home" chefs use the amazing, beautiful, expensive ingredients, but my favorite part is watching the pro turn basic ingredients into something "fancy". Helps me with my at home cooking!
Lol, Lorenzo cracks himself up so much.
I hope I'm not the only one who wants to see a buddy cop movie starring Chef Frank and Lorenzo.
They could be CIA agents

Glad to see Lorenzo wasn't walled up in the cellar like the last guy who was interested in a cask of Amontillado
No wonder Frank has the job he does. Just these shows he makes me want to up my game & learn to really cook well.
I swear you can boil every meal involving frank down to “I swear to god frank.” Man has his picture in the dictionary next to the words extra excessive and unnecessary but god is his entertaining I love him.
Frank survived on frozen potpies... In Florida...working at Disney World? Scooping ice cream? That's some backstory right there
"I'm a frickin' duck." - Lorenzo
That embrace at the end gave me chills.
I held my breath at the end waiting to see if Lorenzo and Frank reunited in person and was soooo happy to BREATHE! Such a great duo.
I’m a simple person
I see frank and Lorenzo on a thumb nail I click.
OMG! I love Lorenzo and Rosemary! I really hope they keep inviting them to this. I also enjoy Frank too. Their Instagram pages are amazing.
I would love to see Lorenzo and Frank cooking a whole dinner together. I bet it would be amazing
Them being able to eat the food together, and hug it out. Man thats so good. :D
Lorenzo is my favorite Filipino Tito that I would always visit every Christmas Eve and surely will have a Happy Merry Christmas every time🎄😊😊😊
Definitely appreciate learning about frozen veggies having more moisture and how to fix that!
I could watch these two forever.
Emily and Lorenzo should meet up. The serotonin i would get from that episode would last for weeks
This is the BEST, so wholesome. Cheers from Colombia amigos!
THAT “HEHE” PART WHEN HE POINTED AT THE PILLSBURY MINI MAN HAHAH 4:05
Lol love the way Lorenzo uses the word rosemary
We need (NEED) to see a photo of young Chef Frank during the "scooping ice cream" era. 🥰
I'm going to look for one. I was much skinner and had hair
This is defenetly the best duo in the hole epicurious roster honestly
as a filipino, im loving frank vs lorenzo fights...funny as heck!
Frank and Lorenzo are the best duo.
I didn't learn to cook a single thing but laughed a whole lot
frank and lorenzo are the best people of epicurious
Lorenzo needs his own show. He's such a joy to watch. More of Lorenzo please? 😊
hearing lorenzo laugh is like the best thing ever lol
Lorenzo's knife skills have gotten so much better. And he does great in this one.
This is a fun concept. The home cook explores things he's not used to and surprised he could do it (happy for you, Lorenzo!) And Frank (I AM NOT WORTHY!)teaches how to elevate easy to find ingredients to a level that is absolutely great.
Best part of the video is Frank and Lorenzo seeing eachother again after so long. Damn wholesome content
Lorenzo is such a goofball. I’d do almost anything to hang out with him for a day and cook/drink wine.
I'm surprised that Frank's recipe calls for store bought chicken stock. I was confused when Lorenzo was trying to open it. Maybe there should be a weird episode where they do actually make their own recipe.
I'm suprised franks recipe didnt ask Lorenzo to raise the chicken and make the stock
i thought so too, but maybe it was already too long of a process.
I love how Frank ( Pro chef ) is so serious when Lorenzo ( Home cook ) is so funny with humour! 🙂
Having low mood wanted to see fun. Seeing Lorenzo and Frank TOGETHER makes my day!
Frank is so lovely. And Lorenzo so funny. Best epicombo

I really liked that Frank used the ingredients and didn't make all things from scratch. All of the tips were pretty useful
