I appreciate Saul's substitutes. They genuinely were something you could find in your kitchen (not like vanilla beans or oyster mushrooms), they fit in the spirit of the recipe, they weren't ridiculous expensive, they only enhanced the existing recipe without replacing it, and he still used what he was given (the tomato sauce, boxed spaghetti). I think that's how these episodes should be; one or two simple substitutions or additions that fit the spirit of what they're given. Not "ignore what came in the box and do my own thing." I was just thinking this, on the wings episode Frank just gets rid of the buffalo sauce and makes his own sauce with all these ingredients I've never had in my kitchen in my life

I could have stopped the video at his fork drop and died happy. And Gabi is so genuine. She's like the sister or best friend every girl wishes she could have.

Spaghetti buns is actually traditionally Italian! You can see it in Naples as frittata di pasta. The frico too, may not be exactly it but just the fact chef Saul knows about the existence of frico (it's very specific from Friuli, north-eastern Italy) is amazing. My boy Saul knows his stuff! Kudos.

I really like the home cook’s bright, determined, and upbeat personality and it’s very cool to see her willingly tackle the large amount of complex ingredients that the professional chef provided for her. I don’t know if it is just me, but I think Gabrielle’s personality is a bit similar to Emily’s because they seem to both have pretty bright personalities. I am going to be honest, I think the professional chef has a very nice personality and accent and he cooked the home cook’s recipe ingredients very well. It’s very creative to see the professional chef use spaghetti buns instead of traditional spaghetti and it’s extremely creative for the professional chef to present his chicken parmesan in a form of a sandwich.

I adore these two together and individually. Chef Saul is so knowledgable and creative, not to mention funny! And Gaby is also so sweet always so respectful of all the ingredients. Saúl and Gabi are my two favorite people on this show... Both excellent chef s/cooks in their own rights and both extremely funny!
