OMG. What an impressive and challenging project. Just the concept to remove a curving sloped driveway and mature planter beds blew my mind. End result was fabulous. LOVE those stadium lights!
You know you're doing well when you rip out a perfectly good 6 figure driveway to add a pickleball court and pour another drive. With that said I love pickleball and totally worth it 😉
While I'm not a fan of those dangerous acrylic surfaces (say hello to knee replacement), I absolutely love the boulder wall and concrete work. It's a really nice looking project and Utah has some beautiful scenery.
Amazing work and great video. My only criticism would be that I wish the “kitchens” were a third color. This could still be done, IMO, after which it would be literally perfect. Thanks for showing us.
Sweet! An extra couple of feet around the entire court would make all the difference as there is no reasonable chance of an ATP for example but what a great location. Have paddle....will travel.
Really great video for showing a court put in. I'm thinking about going down that road, worried about the bumps lol. So, did the cement guys finish the court slab with relief cuts?....it looks like it in the video. If so, do you put some kind of product in the grooves to make the court look totally smooth? What type of paint/product did they use to finish the court? Do you have the make/model of the LED light you used for the court? Anything you wish would have been done differently on the construction aspect? Are you getting better at pickle ball? Thanks again for making a fine video for us home improvement types.
Ron, I,d stay away from a BLk top surface. I got my court all formed up and have not poured it yet. ( have been traveling) I went 32x60 and will eventually paint next year. I will fence also . I have power there for lights if I decide at a later date. Go 4-5” with mesh or rebar. Good luck.
Invites? Good job, yes, atp shots a concern w the Boulder wall. But this is a family rec court and no need to make head long dives. All in all, gorgeous I built my own court about 15 yrs ago in N Mn A lot more simplistic then this setup. I had a $2500 budget. Came out great. I no longer live there but see that it’s still in use. I did 5’ on the sides w concrete then grass. Then a short backstop Planning a new court at my place in Wy Definitely open to all! It’s a great sport. I,be been fortunate to meet new peeps and play in many places The US, Mn, Tx, Ut,Fl,Az, ,the world, Mexico,Thailand and next month,France! At 68yo , it’s my way to get out and enjoy life. Leave the media’s off, grab a paddle and come play! Pickle on!
Thanks for commenting! We’ve had some pretty intense matches and still nobody’s gotten hurt. It’s been great. Sounds like you had a great set up and hopefully you’ll get your new one up and running soon! Thanks for your good energy. Keep playing and enjoying life!
Hey Pete, are you planning your new court with concrete? Any experience with the playability and thoughts on asphalt?.....thinking about going down that road....
Great job. Any issues with losing balls down the cliff that doesn't have a fence? Or was the low wall farther away enough to capture most of them? Your parents have more moxie than I do. Been thinking about adding onto my garage to make it big enough for an indoor court.
The only time there’s an issue is if kids get crazy and just start hitting them as hard as they can all over the place LOL. Otherwise it’s far enough away. I get what you mean, they thought about this for a couple years before pulling the trigger. If it’s going to get used a lot, go for it!
Nicely done! We are putting in a court next year in a northern climate as well. How many years ago was your court done? Hows the paint holding up? Anything you would have done differently?
Nate, this was a great story! I loved watching it all come together and THANK YOU for explaining all of your decisions. So...how much pickleball do you play? This may appear on my blog! Good luck!
Hey Jeff, thanks for the comment and I’m glad you enjoyed the video! It was an awesome project and hopefully your readers agree. I don’t play as much as I’d like, but whenever I can... maybe a few times a month. I need to get better, it’s a big deal out here! Lol
Hey Nate - Great video! Wondering how the gray/black has held up in the heat? Looking to do something similar. Also, wondering where the light was from. Thank you!
Love it! Thanks for sharing this! Looking at a property here in Florida to buy with the thoughts of installing a Pickleball court. Is there a nationwide company that installs or I am sure there are plenty of places in Florida that do it? Thanks again!
Great video. Although the gray/gray isn't bad, I think a gray/burgundy color scheme would have looked great. Still classy without being garish or cartoony.
You’re totally right, it would look great and they thought of that. But we live in the middle of a red, rocky desert so they decided on something other than what the overpowering landscape is out here. Thanks for commenting!
Nice job! I was considering building an indoor pickleball court at my home. My HOA would never approve of an outdoor court due to the noise of the balls and the noise of people having a good time. My question is what was the cost of the concrete of the pickleball court along with the surfacing and lining of the court?
we are also thinking about putting in a pickleball court in a closed space. How much distance do you have from the side line to the side wall? How much space do you have from the baseline to the back wall? Thanks!
Hopefully you get an awesome court done! From the sidelines to the fence and rock wall is about 4ft. At the basketball hoop end the end line is about 8ft from the wall I think. At the open driveway end there’s about 20ft to the retaining wall of the driveway, and a small section that’s about 6-8ft from the fence. They could’ve had more space on the outside of the court, but they wanted the boundaries to be full regulation size.
What part of Utah are y'all from? My sister lives in Ogden. Would a better plan have been to put new garage "up" above? thus leaves more room below for court?? Certainly would have been easier to engineer..
I’d by lying if I said we weren’t a little worried about those things in the beginning lol. But they’ve had a lot of people of all skill levels come play and nobody has had an issue with the space yet, or gotten hurt. Fingers crossed!

@@Tabiii Thank you! it’s so fun! They still use it almost everyday

got some serious “How It’s Made” vibes from this one, i love it

Hey! I’m going to be uploading more soon(and more often)! BTW I made all the music in this video, go check out my new piano album 😅❤️
incredible court and love seeing the whole process! would love to play Spec Tennis on that court
Great vid. Love how that turned out. Have never seen black and gray pickleball court. Love it.

They love how it turned out, but thanks for the suggestion! What color would you make them?
@@natehadlock thanks for the reply. My opinion is that either a tan close to the surrounding rocks or a “desert”/“red rocks” type of red would work.
Well Done !
And good video, too. TKS.
Thanks so much!
Nate you just inspire me to change my paddle court into pickleball court, saludos from Lima Peru 🇵🇪
I love it! Follow your heart and have fun! Thanks for watching and saying hi!
Really nice job putting the video together, Nate!
Glad you liked it! Thanks!
Perfection!!
Love the work and everything wish the kitchen could have been a different color
Nice build. Gorgeous court. Congrats to your Mom and Dad. I am sure they have earned it! Hideous overhead power lines. Yikes! 😢
Sweet! An extra couple of feet around the entire court would make all the difference as there is no reasonable chance of an ATP for example but what a great location. Have paddle....will travel.
Fantastic! Love the build, color, lights, and design. Did they add bb and tennis full court perimeter lines?

Haha thanks, and none needed so far! 🤞

Do you remember the dimensions of the court? I'm planning on building one for my kid. Half court basketball and pickleball combo.

HOA’s can be such a blessing and curse lol. The concrete was around $8k, but I believe that’s including the new section of driveway as well.
Great!

Ahhh pickleball where tennis players go to die
If you get Solar, your homeowners ins will double
Sweet, If I bring food can I play.

Would a better plan have been to put new garage "up"
above? thus leaves more room below for court??
Certainly would have been easier to engineer..
Beautiful but can be very dangerous for aggressive players.
Great Job! How thick is the concrete?
Is the light pole a stock light pole? or was it custom made? I'm looking for something like that for my court
It's stock. Hope your court comes together nicely!
Not enough space to hit an atp…but looks nice
Good job, but both sides of court has less space to tackle a deep lob....
Thanks! That was definitely a concern, but people of all skill levels have come to play and none have complained or had trouble...so far lol🤞
How much?
Do you have dimensions of the court area by chance? Thanks
The actual court within the lines is full regulation size, so I think 20x44.
Who are the guys who outlines the courts? Can I get their number?
Stilson brothers in St George Utah. I have their website in the video description :)
What were the dimensions of this newly created space?
Shoot I don’t remember the dimensions of the entire project, but the actual court boundaries are full regulation.
One side of the back wall seems really close to the baseline
Other than that looks great.
It's easy to build anything when you have the $$
Why no fence all the way around?
Green or blue color is more shining
St. George???
Yes sir!
Ok when can I come play?? Lol! St. Geezy resident as well😁
how much did it cost?
There are a lot of variables, but the answer I've been given is between $15-25k.
I hate it when the blue color of my Pickleball court mimics the color of my pool!🤦♂️Throws my entire property off!
Not a fan of it. Not enough room outside the lines to run down shots. Looks painful!
I’d by lying if I said we weren’t a little worried about those things in the beginning lol. But they’ve had a lot of people of all skill levels come play and nobody has had an issue with the space yet, or gotten hurt. Fingers crossed!
@@natehadlock Good to hear.
Far from amazing as it wayyy too tight to return deep serves
I own 300+ properties and wouldn’t do this. It’s all about playing different people. Strangers.
