this show was about 3 weeks before Mikio's accident and he passed away a week later, and this was Yui's first missed show, she was unable to recover fast enough to be apart of the 2018 tour and while away from the spotlight she may have realized that maybe BABYMETAL wasn't her dream after all, I personally think she hung on longer than she should have simply because Su and Moa were so gung-ho about BABYMETAL and they were all great friends that had been through alot together, this version of the song is more about Hiroshima and the Lore, it is inspired by X Japan's song "Endless Rain" in which Su and Moa got to perform with Yoshiki from X Japan, on new Years eve show, he is a big hero to them, he was a child prodigy who turned to metal drumming and broke his neck doing it, that's where the neck brace in BABYMETAL Lore comes from because he wore a neck brace while drumming.

You literally just fabricated why Yui left. The truth is we have no idea why she left except the stated reason which was health reasons.

@@Hymnodic Hey brother,I didn't fabricated any thing, excuse me for having an opinion based on the evidence, I did not state any concrete reason, just a logical assessment of the situation, you could obviously tell that she wasn't feeling well throughout 2017, no one knows for sure but her, I never speculated some of the crazy crap that others have stated.

You know what? The friend who introduced me to Babymetal always said that Yui was her favorite, so when I started listening to the band, we usually focused more on Yui (me at first, because since I really listened to them, Moa has always been my favorite) and I told him something like that, that in Yui's last shows, she no longer smiled the same as she did at the beginning; obviously I'm not referring only to those where her health problem infers her low spirits.
So, although it is evident that no one outside of Yui herself, her family, Su & Moa, the band and those closest to the band within her company know what really happened, what you say is a good hypothesis, in my opinion, based on what I also saw.

It is even more poignant when sung in Hiroshima, SU METAL hometown 😭
And this song was written at a time when Japan was still mourning the loss of so many people in a massive earthquake and tsunami. In fact, I was healed by this song. It gave me a positive feeling to remember the many lives lost, but to live with hope.😌

Cool you found the full version with the intro narrated by SuMetal, this song and the full show is really hard to watch when knowing everything around, not only is the last concert of Mikio-sama and the first one without YuiMetal but also is SuMetal 20th Birthday celebrating in her hometown Hiroshima and that's what the intro is talking about. Btw Headbanger!! (just like MoaBanger 2019) got a special version switching the 15 for 20.
She doesn't always play rhis special song, last time it was in Budokan 2021 10BMY "playing" the piano but the context behind is different bc of the pandemic situation, still hopeful song.
Like i said this is more related to Suzuka and her hometown rather than a Yui's farewell.
    Thanks for sharing this bro.🦊🤘🌈

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 We are moved by this song because we are human beings. I am Japanese but my nationality and literacy do not have distinct advantages to feel the emotion stirred by Su-Metal and Kamis. Su's voice and Kami's guitar sound resonate with the bones in my whole body.
This was filmed in 2017 and BM revived this song in the last two shows of 10 BABYMETAL Budokan in 2021 with Su's more matured voice. As an eyewitness of those shows at the venue, I can tell you that it was literally heartbreaking and made me forget to breathe. This 2017 version, however, may be still the best for me although BM always say "the latest is the best". It may be so because of the last appearance of Mikio (RIP) with Su. 😢

From what I know and read, Yui's doctors said she shouldn't perform for this show. Su and Moa almost canceled the show in hopes she will be ready soon after. In the end, They decided to go on. They didn't know then that Yui wasn't ever going to return.
I bought this Blu Ray for many reasons but Mikio's passing was for sure one of them. I needed this one. RIP. 🤘🦊🤘

  • @Grington300
    @Grington300 11 месяцев назад +27

Great reaction. No, Su's performance had nothing to do with Yui's absence (that is some fans' own interpretation after making the association).
Yui pulled out of performing at the last minute following her doctor's advice, they had no idea she would not be back.
They considered postponing or cancelling the shows to wait for her to get better, but it was Su's 20th birthday celebration (the big one in Japan), her first time back in her home town Hiroshima with BABYMETAL and they had prepared a huge spectacle, so they went ahead with just Su and Moa and the crowd filling in for Yui.
This was December 2017, they held Yui's place until she made her announcement 10 months later in October 2018.
Obviously they also had no idea it would be Mikio's last show with BABYMETAL - but in the editing for the BluRay it is clearly no coincidence that as Su sings the line "Nidoto ae-nai kedo wasure-naide itai yo." "We shall never meet again, but I want not to forget you forever." the camera also focuses on Mikio (R.I.P.).
This was the only time I'm aware of where they had a pianist and violinists playing live - they spared no expense to celebrate Su-metal's 20th birthday
'No Rain, No Rainbow' was first performed at the Legend 1999 concert in 2013, long before the first album was released. Su wasn't happy with her delivery, she felt she wasn't ready to record the song yet as she was concentrating on getting the lyrics and the notes right, but she felt she didn't have the life experience to really understand and therefore to express what it all meant, so she wasn't happy she was doing the song justice.
As a result the song was not included on the first album - she got her way ... she was still only 15 at that time.
It was only later on when performing the song (possibly at the Budokan in March 2014) Su saw someone in the audience crying and only then did she appreciate her voice could touch people so deeply ... the song was then recorded and included on the 2nd album.
It is a rare song to hear - never played outside of Japan and so far only 7 live performances: Legend 1999 (2013), Budokan Black Night (2014), Tokyo Dome (2016), Legend S (both nights 2017) and two of the 10 Budokan shows in 2021.
This song (and possibly Guns n Roses and 'November Rain' as well) takes inspiration from the song 'Endless Rain' by X Japan. That, in turn, was possibly inspired by Prince's 'Purple Rain'.

They did have a lone violinist-MIZ, wearing a fox mask-playing live an arrangement of Chopin's "Revolutionary Étude" on the Death Match tour's Zepp DiverCity shows, May 2013, 1st time the Kami Band backed a full set of songs, the month before Legend 1999.

@@otobokegaijin6218 Ah yes, she had slipped my mind, but I probably wouldn't have counted her anyway as I was thinking separate pianists and violinists and I thought she was effectively a Kami Band member (and the only female Kami to date).

This was and is not intended as a goodbye to Yui or Mikio.
The song is very emotional. It is the first performance Su got the emotions right. During earlier performances, she expressed emotions but not the ones that match the lyrics or story. The five other musicians (4 string instruments and piano) entered the stage just for this song.
Yui was absent on very short notice. Nobody knew she would not return. And this is a SU-METAL solo song anyway. That means Yui is not relevant here.
The fan-made subtitles (and therefore the lyrics) read "we will never meet again" when the camera cuts to Mikio Fujioka. That may be random but maybe it was intended during production of the Blu-ray.

    Glad you chose this performance.
This concert celebrated Su's 20th birthday, and was held in Hiroshima, her home prefecture.
The opening narration refers to the atomic bomb blast during World War II.
There are great versions of this song from Tokyo Dome and Budokan, but this one is my favorite.
The inspiration owes a lot to Japanese super group X Japan.
The last line of this song is "An endless rain fills my heart, forever.", which makes the connection pretty clear.
Though it may actually be closer to X Japan's 'Silent Jealousy' than to their song 'Endless Rain'.
This one is super rare in concert.
Even though it debuted in 2013, it's only been performed seven times, all of them in Japan.

In some songs, one of these being them, Su-metal harmonizes with a backtrack of herself.
Not even they knew Yui was going to be gone for good. They weren't sure she would be able to perform in the concert or not, so they had spent the time leading up to the concert training choreography of all their songs for two and three people. It was almost fate, as the Dark Side lore began right at this concert, and BM was set to take a darker turn in their lore.

Such unfortunate events for both Mikio and Yui, but the Kami Band and the girls, everyone involved didn't let it be the end, they didn't let it take them down by any means no matter how difficult and I respect them a lot for that, they just got stronger and with even more determination to continue on their own path, incredible people, BABYMETAL is their pride just as MOA once said and they won't stop being the way they are, always bringing happiness when everything seems to be dark 🦊🤘

This song will be forever embedded in my Babymetal top 5. To me this song showcases Su at her most emotionally powerful. You can see she feels the song while performing, specially this version during the part immediately after the guitar bridge in the middle where you can hear the slight wavering of her voice and see tears starting to well in her eyes.

Goog Reaction! At the time of this Hiroshima Birthday Live, no one knew that Yui and Mikio would be gone. But the timing was right, and the coincidence was divine. And now when anyone sees this show, they can't help but feel the loss of Yui and Mikio. And it was on the day of Su's birthday concert. The following year, they began a period of hardship, but the loss was sublimated beautifully into the Trilogy of Light three years later.

Mikio's last performance was December 26th for Takayoshi Ohmura's birthday show with Gacharic Spin. Just four days later he had his accident and succumbed to his injuries on January 5th. The song was not played again until 2021 (at Budokan) where Ohmura played with Mikio's guitar (as he has done since 2018). Another First of this concert was that it was the first concert the East Kami band did not do any intro solos and they have not done one since.

Yes, this performance has a special place in our hearts... at least, it deeply moves me every time I watch it. Because of the context, the song itself and the way Su-metal performed it.
The intro relates to the consequences of the nuclear blasts over Hiroshima and Nagasaki on the population. And the song seems to be a tribute to X-Japan's "Endless Rain".
    DESPAIR
    "The bright beam of light
That wiped all light from the world
Also ceased people's light of hope
    The skies turned dark
And endless rain fell upon the people
Who had lost all of their light and hope
    But endless rain doesn't exist
And the people hope of black skies to clear out
So the heavens can restore the light that had been lost
They hope to discover that there's happiness at the end of sorrow
And they pray for light of hope to return to them."
