Mayday: Air Disaster - From Season 8 Episode 2 "Cruel Skies": Bad weather can turn an ordinary flight into a fight for survival. And the right information and
equipment - both on the ground and in the air - can mean the difference between life and
death. In December 2008 the United Sates was battered by a series of fierce storms. Cruel
Skies brings viewers inside the U.S. Aviation Weather Center in Kansas City Missouri
throughout the worst of those storms to see how forecasts are made, how information is
passed on to pilots, and how planes are diverted around the most dangerous weather. Cruel
Skies also revisits four pivotal aviation disasters and near-misses that have taught the
industry on how to get planes in the air safely.

What critical factors and life-or-death decisions do pilots face when navigating through severe weather conditions?
List all depends on if the pilot is faced with intangible factors or if they fail to appropriately quantify actual hazards
Also must take into factor the way pilot thinks in case of an emergency, anti-authority, impulsivity, and vulnerability, macho, or resignation. They are all common ways that humans tend to deal with experiences when the brain is overloaded with thoughts.
"We have a small problem, all four engines have stopped."
Greg stole my heart. I can imaginly smell his after shave cologne.
Ay, beautiful Greg. You're killing me softly.
You need to find Greg and kiss Him

12:35 Flight Attendant: BRACE FOR IMPACT
Landing on highway is crazy
I can remember when I worked at our airport getting those convective SIGMETs.
I’m doing all the traveling I can within the next year as I think the America that I know will change at the next presidential election! My first flight in 20 years is booked for Greece in May and if all goes well I’ll be in Amsterdam in November…I’m already freaking out!
When I see the de icing equipment come out ,I cancel my flight
Your very smart
I commend these pilots
It started with a kiss
How did it end up like this? It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss!
We looked forward to afternoon thunderstorms all summer long in Massachusetts, but we were on the ground.
crashes are sad.
6:28 WHY would experienced pilots take off with weather data that was 2 hours old...???
Because in the seventies weather info was issued ever 2-4 hours.
@@cogitoergospud1Exactly. The 70s were different than what techs we have now. I know, I'm the late 70s baby. 😊
they always say avoidable but what is destine will sure happen
are you guys ever going to do a WA 2605 episode?
"I had seen death before as a medic in Vietnam, but it had never been aimed at civilians, certainly not on a mass situation..." There they go with their lies. I mean, they drop bombs on people. Also, during the Vietnam war, the US killed over 500 Vietnamese civilians in the My Lai massacre. I hate when there own gets killed and they act like its the end of the world, when they do the same on other people. Overall, I certainly feel for those who perished in the crash.
Should have dumped the fuel before touch down. RIP to the lost souls ❤️🙏🏻
Ashes to ashes...dust to dust...face the fire...fly with us...RyanAir.
Edit: God bless the passengers, their families, and the victims on the ground. This accident is horrible and that's no joke.
Saying God bless is to late, gawd took that plane down,,,he should of not these people die,,what a fantasy mind figure to worship,,,,

Need to make pilot cabins better and more survivable. Every crash seems they are first to die😢
Salute 3 officers
In 2024 Ryan Air be like we don't need weather reports we are the weather reports.
"This is your captain speaking. We're heading to a watery grave. I trust you're not in too much distress."

I JUST SIMPLY DONT GET IN PLANES ANYMORE, HAVENT FOR A LONG TIME.
The thumbnail is the example of me when my friend says the unbelievable or my friend when I say the unbelievable

It'll be wonderful if all Mayday episodes were available in India.
No place for a "Rambo" pilot, just divert to a safer airport for the innocent passengers who place their lives in a pilots hands and intelligent decisions.
What?......No "All or Nothing?", Excitement IS Entertainment!.

😂
talk about bad luck. crashing into a gas station of all things?!
People said every people died in delta 191
It's says "4 days ago" I've watched this 2 yrs ago,,this is not a new video
Day 2 of asking for a Olympic air flight 411 documentary
On the 2nd vid with the crash on the runway: didn't the plane have reverses?? --they're very helpful to stop the aircraft, they stop the speed not the wheels to slip, using the reverses and tail control, the plane stops🛑 --i just asked a question without underestimating the pilots neither the power of nature✋🏻👍🏻..
What's the name of this narrator ?
I am always looking for documentaries narrated by him
Sounds like Bear Grylls
I think it's Jonathan Artis.
If they weren't up there in the first place this kind of thing could never happen! ☝️
Genius
Good point lol
If you didn't leave your house then you won't get hit by a car. 😂
I think nature/god never intended man to go deeply underwater or high in the air. The need to breath limits any venture to just a few minutes.
@@ntag411 Exactly! 👍
Shizza I'd want to not be in this plane
Props to the courageous actor's who died recreating these horrific events.
Eish 🙆♀️🥺

That's generous.......that come with cabin exhaust fumes? (air con acting as inlet for engine fumes, yeah real strong. Ryanair '88)
It's "route," not "rout."
He can say it the way he wants to say it. Please be quiet.
If only those agencies in charge of air safety worked more proactively instead of reactively. Thousands would not have needlessly died. Or be on track to die in preventable future air disasters.
If you don't know something is a potential problem, you don't know to prevent it.
I HAVENT BEEN IN A PLANE FOR YEARS NOW AND DONT INTEND TO GET IN ONE, IM JUST TOO SCARED OF PLANES IN MY OLD AGE NOW. BUT I LIKE TO WATCH THESE TYPES OF SHOWS.
Regulatory agencies work tirelessly to prevent accidents before they happen. You will never know the amount of lives saved because by the very nature of prevention, the accidents never happened. You comment undermines the hard work an incredible feats of engineering that goes into making air travel the safest form of travel.
Ladies! Where all the ladies at? I have a crush on Greg Feith. How about you?
power pilots = narcs
at 34:20 how about a hollywood move, i have seen a space shuttle landing in a canal for water way by retracting the landing gears then slightly hit something to rotate the plane to convert its translational momentum to the rotational momentum, about 100% forward momentum will be instantly reduced. i can do better than these guys

They bought the tickets the got on ,i say let em crash
