  • I coded a stock trading bot and gave it $1000 to invest. Here's what happened.

    I've been seeing so many examples of people creating huge amount of money seemingly from thin air overnight using technical analysis and automated trading. I figured "I know how to code", and I like investing, so I should probably see what all the hype is about. I created a Generative AI program using Google's latest Gemini Pro Vision model that pulls in the latest stock charts, looks for patterns in those charts, and then gives me trading recommendations based on those patterns. I then manually entered those trades into Robinhood to 1. give at least some buffer between the AI and my funds and 2. to better document each trade the AI was recommending, so I could improve it in the future. And boy, are there improvements to be made.
    If I were to do this again, I'd likely give the AI bot full control to make any trades it wants, and I'd like to move from a pattern-based AI to a bot that can actually analyze company fundamentals, similar to what I do in my normal videos. Let men know if you'd like to see that in a future video.

    What kind of bot should I build next?

    • @RoialRogue
      @RoialRogue 3 месяца назад

      I feel like if you made it so the bot could sell and buy when it wants not so you have to do it probably come up with more interesting results. I have heard of an API out there that lets you do that.

      @@RoialRogue I think you're right. That would also let the bot trade much more frequently and potentially make higher returns

    Do you wtill make moeny less the trading cost such as brokerage fee? How many pairs of trade a day does it average?

    • @ChrisTian-uw9tq
      @ChrisTian-uw9tq Месяц назад

      Valid questions but he showed how the LLM access alone cost over $50 right? I might be right in claiming that using API's to place orders in some cases can cost less fees but don't quote me on it. It may just as well be true in the opposite direction elsewhere.
      At my beginning in Nov with 'trading' i was making so many micro trades, that I lost what ever profit I was making, to fees - nothing presented on the app how much this fee was accumulating, so it took the fun out of playing with minute time frames.

    Patterns are unreliable.

    • @ChrisTian-uw9tq
      @ChrisTian-uw9tq Месяц назад

      Thats taken into account for sure. Thing is, some patterns repeat - get your spread wide enough, probability of a hit increases.
      Using a LLM to read data points and convert them for your decision making or for the bots decision making, for sure can't conceptually claim to be reliable on patterns alone - but another reality check here is that a lot of people do follow the patterns approach, people even sell their pattern ideas to VIP group members ;)
      The influence of such factors inherently then tend to influence a pattern repeating. Make a sense?

      i think his model was unreliable... and the patterns correspond with numbers ... so depending on the size of the graph....

    To complete the picture 1st the bot should collect news Yahoo finance or any other trusted source not X for example learning from news is very important part.
    2nd allow the bot for fast trading something we call it scalping. (He will love it)
    3rd allow him to buy/sell you need to add TP % SL buying/selling on a breakout or daily high/low was easy script.
    After all that you'll need to adjust numbers.
    Thank you for the upload.

      I do want to try adding news sources to the bot; I think that combined with more automated trading would be a really fun V2

      I haven't been using it recently, since I felt it was making me overly focused on the short-term price movements. If I get some free time, I'd like to make a version 2 that trades automatically, so I don't need to spend as much time watching it

      Which part please? What have I missed that is so clear otherwise to and a handful of initial commenters?
