    Women don’t get “stomach cramps” on their periods. We get uterine cramps. Women may say “I have stomach cramps” or “I have abdominal cramps” when what we actually mean is uterine cramps. I find that I and other women say that to not announce to people that we may not feel comfortable telling that were on our periods. It’s quite intimate IMO to tell co workers or bosses that we have period cramps. So when people ask why we don’t feel well “oh I just have stomach cramps”. Most women usually know that’s code for uterine cramps and I’m on my period. But stomach cramps are not a symptom at all of PMS. Only uterine cramps are. So if you’re having stomach cramps that’s a whole other issue.

      actually youre speculating here. ill cite this source if youd like me to:
      PMS symptoms start five to 11 days before menstruation and typically go away once menstruation begins. The cause of PMS is unknown.
      However, many researchers believe that it’s related to a change in both sex hormone and serotonin levels at the beginning of the menstrual cycle.
      Levels of estrogen and progesterone increase during certain times of the month. An increase in these hormones can cause mood swings, anxiety, and irritability. Ovarian steroids also modulate activity in parts of your brain associated with premenstrual symptoms.
      the overwhelming answer to this question is that a lot of things go into pms, one of them being hormonal balance. since a lot of trans women have the hormonal balance of cis women, they can start experiencing pms. its actually surprisingly easy to understand. this is also why people who have had a hysterectomy can still experience cramps. hope this helps and let me know if you have questions.

      @@violetburr4984 There is one problem with this, PMS is caused by increased hormones, which is part of the cycle, transwomen take hormones, they don't produce them, so they may have the same balance as females, at baseline, but where as trans women are on a dose, females are not, our bodies produce them which leads to higher levels during our cycle, which causes PMS, so trans women will not experience PMS, women who have had a hysterectomy can have stomach ache, EVERYONE can, but they do not have uterine cramps which are period cramps, just like trans women do not experience uterine cramps,

    • @AmberEvans
      @AmberEvans  5 лет назад +4

      Did you even listen to what I said in the video? I literally pose the question as to whether it is all psychosomatic and say that there are many people who experience this and that I would simply like to know more about it. Also, which doctor do you suppose I go to? I have an appointment with an endocrinologist once every 6 months and GPs have a severe lack of knowledge in trans healthcare. I am still on the waiting list to be seen by a doctor at my local GIC after almost 3 years since referring there. Period symptoms in trans women exist and are worth discussing in more detail than simply dismissing the notion because we have different anatomy. But whateves, what do I know about trans women's bodies, I'm just a trans woman.

    • @Tina-de4zt
      @Tina-de4zt 5 лет назад +5

      I did listen to the video, and in all fairness it does seems like you were posing a question to your viewers based on observations and conversations that you have had in your community. So my bad on that. Regarding doctors, I wouldn’t know. It seems like transpeople would need a whole team of doctors working together to pin down some real guidelines, It seems like most medical guidelines regarding trans health are mainly influenced by social politics. Plus, I don’t think that will ever happen as long as certain trans voices keep blocking studies from taking place. How can doctors form proper guidelines if they can’t figure out what qualifies a person as trans. Like diabetes, we can test for it very early and provide treatment. But if diabetes were an identity that were completely subjective to ones own spirit or sense of self, how does one even begin a medical intervention, let alone how young. Yes there have been some studies done over the years, but those that I have read have many wholes, and still dont address the fundamental doubt that exist that transgenderism is a condition that is purely a psychological (a very complicated one at that).
      I know that we won’t change each other’s minds, which is fine. I am not here to derate and you seem really cool, I just ran across your vid and seeing as though I have a period, I felt like contributing to the convo.

    • @AmberEvans
      @AmberEvans  5 лет назад +3

      There are extensive guidelines for trans healthcare from the NHS, GMC and internationally. Medications have been prescribed for trans people for decades. A recent consultation on trans healthcare collected qualitative data on how best to move forward with improving care across the uk, to which one conclusion was to bring much of it into primary care, a move which has long been needed. Training courses are available for GPs to diagnose Gender Dysphoria and with the right knowledge it is not difficult to diagnose.
      I am not sure what you implying by it being purely psychological, if you mean that it is a mental illness then you would be incorrect in this association. Gender Dysphoria has been declassified from a mental illness and leading practitioners of trans healthcare are in no debate as to whether it is or is not a mental illness. It is not. More research needs to be done into the origin of what makes a person transgender, there have been some studies that indicate to something happening in particular stages of gestation, but more research is definitely needed.
      No guidelines for trans healthcare are formed by social politics. However, the influence of social politics is the reason social politics exist, if it did not influence the subject matter and cause necessary conversation then there would be no point in social politics. It wouldn't even be social politics, it would just be a pointless debate with no one listening. The reason for people to stand up and be heard is because not enough is being done by a governing body, in this case the NHS. Without people standing up and raising concerns no problems would ever be identified. Social politics is exactly what is needed to push forward change and make systems better. However no policies and guidelines are ever written by those members of the public. Concerns are raised and then the medical professionals evaluate the best way to resolve those problems with the knowledge, education and research that is best available at that time.
      Thank you, you do have a valid voice, everyone does. However if you are going to speak about something such as trans healthcare with such a dismissive attitude towards the years of work by many medical professionals across the world then I will always respond in this way.

However, they are NOT having periods (if they still have their ovaries they may still ovulate and produce hormones which will still give them some symptoms of a period. No woman who has had a hysterectomy still bleeds).
      Having said that: trans identified males cannot experience phantom-organ syndrome for an organ they've never had. Nor can they have hormone cycles when on a constant, stable supply of the same hormone pills day in, day out, as is the case when actual women take the pill without a weeks break every month.

    I think it is a side effect of the hormones. What hormones do transwomen take? In the two weeks leading to menstruation (called the luteal phase) women can mimic pregnancy symptoms because the body is actually preparing for a potential pregnancy. This can cause food cravings, bloating, mood changes, headaches, acne, breast soreness. I experience the headaches right before menstruation. All of these symptoms are because of the hormone progesterone. Are transwomen given progesterone? Because if so, maybe you are experiencing side effects.

    I don't even know where or how to begin so Ill just site the science behind menstruation and start by saying periods are a female phenom they are not "any cycle that has an ending" words having meanings and just like periodically wanting a penis doesnt make me trans, dealing with the side effects of medication doesn't mean you have a period even if PMS (which is what you're describing= periods/menstruation.
    Trans women DO NOT and CAN NOT experience menstrual cramps its not possible on an anatomy level you do not have uterus, stomach cramps are not uterine cramps. If anyone listened to women you'd know period cramps are more internal, same with cervical cramps and pain especially when dealing with blood clots youll never know that pain and there's no way to explain it other than sharp stabbing in your cervix, same with upper thigh cramping during periods. Uterine pain doesn't just stay in the stomach area it radiates, uterine pain aka period cramps are a series of cramps in different locations not stomach cramps.
    Hormones fluctuating doesn't cause menstruation very specific hormonal fluctuations cause menstruation, transwomen dont as far as I know take testosterone boosters while esterone plummets, which causes symptoms like acne. The majority aren't being prescribed progesterone which causes sore breast, maybe I missed something but trans women prostaglandins have no reason to react in the stomach area for literally no reason (your body does not have a cycle) that area unless maybe your medication is slowly damaging your insides time to see a doctor.

      The fact that biological men want to sit on this internet and try to make it seem like y’all have anything even remotely like a period or experience PMS (periods menstruation) is definitely offensive. The pain and agony we are subjected to every month in regards to our menstrual cycles is something that can’t be put into words. we have to deal with Sore breast ,full fledge mood swings, cravings, headaches, nausea, fatigue, muscle pain and weakness, bloating, and vomiting and a plethora of other symptoms in regards to our monthly’s. Intense uterine cramps that are so severe it cripples you. The fact that we have to wear Pads/Tampons/ cups 24/7 that have to be changed constantly or you will bleed through your underwear and clothing, with constant blood flow and pain for up to a week straight! And biological men want to get on here and argue with us real women about something we experience once a month! YOU HAVE NO IDEA and never Will understand what it’s like to have a period. To make a mockery of it because y’all feels like it gives you the full women experience is FOUL!. Just because you take some hormones don’t mean you’re PMSing or have any idea of what’s it’s like to have A period! It’s misogynistic and I guarantee if you would have a period for 1 day you would be on your knees begging for it to stop from the severity of the Pain it causes. On top of this we still have to go about our daily lives while having our periods and being in some of the worst pain you can imagine, you can feel it in your thighs, back, lower back and lower abdomen but the pain isn’t in your stomach is actually coming from the uterus which contracts 24/7 while menstruating and it HURTS! Wow at the number of comments from people jumping at you for bringing this up. Seriously? It's like no one listens at all. No of course trans women don't menstruate, the parts are in a different format. But wouldn't hearing that many trans women experience similar symptoms be a good point of research anyway? Perhaps a physical aspect of human gene expression could be gleaned from this. MtF people fairly unanimously state their life experiences again and again but people jump down their throats like we're going to court about their anatomy. News flash, we have $40000 worth of medical bills that need paying; we can't afford a lawyer. We aren't going to prove your body's not real or anything like that. We just want to be treated like a human being. We have symptoms that are similar to periods, but obviously still different from XX people. Our hormones are expressing genes that would otherwise be dormant. Couldn't that induce huge ranges of symptoms? We are acutely aware that our anatomy is not the same. That's the most obvious thing in the room. Why then do so many people deny our experiences? Why bother even commenting that we don't have uteri? It's obvious to us too. So how about this, we open our ears to the actual things that will help people with medical issues with respect and trust, instead of plugging them up and denying other people their reality. Work with us. Stop treating us like we're not human. We are human beings.

    • @suelancaster6959
      @suelancaster6959 2 года назад +1

      We jump down your throat because most of you are just as misogynistic as a man from the 1950s.
      1950s Male on period pains : it's just a tummy ache/muscle spasm
      2000s MTF Trans : wow I have a tummy ache/muscle spasm. Must be period pains
      Women : welp feels like my uterus and ovaries are about to drop out of my vag
      It trivializes something we didn't ask for and will have to deal with until menopause which is just as bad in different ways. I can just as easily throw your "we just want to be treated like a human beings" right back at you. As a woman I want to be treated like an individual and not a stereotype. Lots of transgenders fail at this.
      For what it's worth I don't hate transgenders. I absolutely do see you as human beings which means you are fair game when it comes to criticisms.

    Totally a thing. I'm 28 days regular. 3-4 days of nausea, headaches, irritability, fluctuating emotions. No stomach cramps but loss of appetite followed by a strong craving for salty, fat food like potato chips - Like clockwork. And of course we transgender women don't have ovaries or a uterus so no actual period. Most people who are commenting that this is absurd need to actually learn about anatomy. Hormone fluctuations are controlled by the pituitary gland. It's what triggers the egg to release and the period to begin. In transgender women - We get the joy of the pituitary gland messing with hormone levels but oh course, we don't actually menstruate. Women who have had hysterectomies may experience the same thing even though the reproductive organs are physically absent.
