- Many people are familiar with white noise - the sound of untuned radio stations, blank video tapes or sleep aiding noise machines. Did you know there are many other colors of noise?

Note: After releasing this video, more info on orange noise became available. It should be noted that the sample in this video isn't true orange noise. Orange noise sounds like a combination of brown and pink noise and is used similarly to white noise to block out distractions.

I like listening to brown noise while studying or sleeping because it masks sounds and is easy to listen to.
As long as you don't sleep thru an alarm.
Green noise is my sleep go-to! It's made such a difference! Only thing that blocks out the stomping from upstairs neighbours.
Really? I would think white noise would too.

Had heard of white noise before and discovered pink noise a couple days ago, and then found this video. Really informative and interesting!
The only noise that's wrong is Orange. Things were right in the edit but when it rendered, my source audio clip changed because I was cleaning out unused files and removed the wrong one. I didn't catch this until way after the fact.
I thought "wow this is a pretty good video".

I like brown and green noise the best, along with black. All the others either hurt my head/ears or stress me out.

Brown noise (no pun intended) tickles me pink. Like it just sounds so comforting. I've already listening to a mix of white, pink and brown noise and it's helped drown out my early rise parents when i need extra sleep and my neighbors (though, I still wish they'd stop being incosiderate assses and allow me to hear more silences way more often).
Yeah, neighbors can be frustrating beyond comprehension
Green noise is the only one that doesn’t hurt my ears or in the case of brown noise, stresses me out. I finally found a color that works for me

Question for you: why does a waterfall sound like brown noise :)) What is in the physics of the water falling that makes it sound brown?
I'm not aware of one. It had more to do with Brownian motion.
Everything has it's own noise pattern and sound. A waterfall can sound different depending on the height of the falls, width, depth of the pool below, if it hits rock or rapids, etc.

Not much info about orange noise but from what I've learned it's brown and pink noise overlayed and can be used to drown out other sounds very effectively.
What if a lot of the colors sound exactly alike?

what is the best noise for adults with ADHD while "working"?
If I were to guess (and it would just be a guess) I'd say white. Might try a few and see what works best for you but white is used to help people sleep so it makes sense.

brown and green noise are very good, blue and grey are ok, the rest is very bad
