Nice video. Just FYI, the pictures at 6:27 and 19:03 are cladophora. The picture at 19:49 is not. Also, nuisance cladophora is not the same kind as the moss ball cladophora. Cladophora is one of the few algaes that cannot travel through air spores. It will only enter your tank on shoddy live plants, which is where the moss ball myth comes from. I've beaten it before and here's some tips: It thrives in a high tech tanks unfortunately, because it has a plant-like structure that is much more similar to a moss than an algae. This prevents it from being eaten by algae eaters or outcompeted by plants for nutrients. The way i got rid of it was by reducing lighting massively for many months, and spot dosing liquid carbon heavily. Once you've got it, you will never be rid of it fully, but you can manage it, so don't freak out.

Hi guys, very funny but also very informative video this week, lots of top tips on combatting one of the most annoying aspects of the hobby. Excellent, thank you and stay safe all.
Well watching the videos about algea made me buy co2 and external filter.. read betwen the lines - balance is everything in aquascape world . Thank you for being here and educate us.
Just getting in to Aquatic panted tanks. It is very fun. I love my big yellow snail. It eats so much algae. I have little tanks. 1.5 gallon planted with shrimp and snails. 5 gallon with plants and snails only. Your videos are great. Got bright lights and my plants are starting to grow. I am sort of a freak. I put in time everyday on my tanks.
Hi Balazs, very funny , but very informative video on one of the biggest put offs ( is that even a word ) of the hobby. So many great tips and tricks . Many thanks as always for sharing ,
Right now im filtering my 30L Tank with 600L/Hours. I thought it might be overkill in terms of waterflow, but its not even noticeable... I followed your Guidelines in terms of filtration and i came to the conclusion: Just get the biggest badass filter you can get. Its 100%!!!! worth it!!!
i start this hobby in desember 2019 my friend asked me about it ( apparently most of my friend think i knows everything ). then i read and watch video about this hobby and start this hobby. then my other friend want to start this hobby too. and so, there are 7 of us that start this hobby. but now, its only me that staying with aquascaping 😂 one of the reason that make me still in love with this hobby is this channel. P.s : for tommy, your iwagumi is inspire me
Have been fighting an algea attack for the past months...even with co2 it kept getting worse. What I found to be the problem was too much water disturbance from my filter letting all the co2 out, placing my co2 device on the other side of the tank also helped. This worked for me, probably not for all of you.
7:16 I agree with all these points except for filtration. I don't think filtration prevents algea except maybe for tanks with overpopulation and not enough plants. Plants already take up ammonium. Actually they prefer ammonium to nitrates. They consume ammonium first.
Btw the story you told at beginning was very sad, this hobby needs patience. They miss out long term relaxation and benefit over something that can be easily avoided
The worst is - you got all too fast. In many hobbies usually it is you who set a difficulty level. You never learn driving with Ferrary or McLaren, right? With an aquarium you just get all at once.. Full speed from the day1. Take and enjoy.. You just think - 1. Ok, will feed the fishes and enjoy the view.. 2. Ok. Clean and water change once a week. 3. plants dont grow - fertilisers? 4. Light. 5. plants just dissolve and dont grow - another light which is stronger 6. too much light, algae and no bubbles - CO2. 7. overdosing CO2 - all snails are dead (surprisingly no ammonia peak detected). 8. water tests 9. fertilisers (another)+tests to keep all as it should 10. sudden GDA. 11.12.13.... It all in less than a year! The worst, as for me, is - you dont see the direct impact of changes you just did. "after some change wait couple of weeks". Terrible speed! And all of it - without your direct wish. You actually just wanted nice relaxing view of planted aquarium and to feed fishes :) Having GDA and waiting for 3 weeks (as one of solutions) I did not see appearance of other algae which should be treated now.. nice :( I also now close to give up..
❤ Well, I'm completely out of the running for the algae pagent, LOL. I don't have a CO2 injector and it's just not a high tech planted tank. I still have a lot to learn about CO2 use, so its not my time to get one yet. Anyway, the very end was extremely hilarious! I wondered why your hair was looking like that and now I get the joke!!
I just started watching green aqua videos yesterday and im completely addicted! 😍 ive already learned so much about alot of problems i have been having with my very first aquascape. Thanks so much green aqua! Absolutely love what you are doing!
I'm so pleased that you confirmed my thoughts on marimo moss balls. I had one for around 3 years in my tank, then it began to fall apart. I had no idea how dangerous this was, and I just put the smaller pieces around the tank. After a month or so I started to see tiny green tuffs appearing in the tank on plants and wood, but at this point I didn't connect it to the moss ball. In time I ended up with algae covering most of the bogwood and when trying to remove it, I thought how much like a moss ball it was. That's when I realised what had happened. The moss ball is long gone but the algae has remained ever since and it's the only thing in my non co2 tank that pearls :(
OMG .. DON´T GO WITH FLOW ........................ :D We love to go see your store, but we got a 14 hour drive to get to you :) So for now we'll have to see it all here Thank you so much for all the laughs we get when seeing you all here Love from Denmark

Hello BALAZS ... There is so much to look at, so much knowledge to acquire, my mind is thirsty for what you provide in a philanthropic way !!! Thank you ... If I had the possibility to work for you, I would do it for free just for the knowledge!
Totally agree with everything said! One point that I didn't see mentioned which was the indirect cause for me: overfeeding. It's so easy to overfeed, and with good bottom cleaners(corys, shrimps, snails, etc) a lot of time it is not as visible as you'd think, but it does seep into the substrate... and the released amonia/nitrites cause the algae...
Excellent video. Everytime I see Balazs talking about algae free tanks and temperature, I suffer. I live in a Brazilian city that is horribly hot. My tank is always around 29° even in some rainy days, no heater of course, and air conditioning really becomes something super expensive to pay every month (also, chillers cost way to high for me). I'm planning to have a new planted tank this year but I think I'll always have some kind of algae in the tank even though I have everything else a planted tank needs. Oh boy...
Yeah, that is a problem. Did you try fans on top of the tank? Evaporation will decrease the temperature by 1-3 degrees Celsius. Not much, but it's relatively inexpensive.
I love you, I love your videos, and I really love your excellent tutorials.❤ They helped me so often, and ofcourse they will help me as a aquaman!😉 Thank you.plz continue🙏🌹
Excellent video guys, you are a beacon of hope in the world of aquascaping. As a side note: agal spores are made of sporenine, which renders them virtually indestructible, even using powerful solvents that may be the cause of their usual comeback

i would appreciated this video were avaiable september 2019 when i started and i had my first algae troubles, fortunatly thank god i slip with professional aquascapers of my country and they helped me... but im sure that newbies will appreciate it. Gratz for a nice teaching video guys
I'm inspired by your videos and thank you for all the great information you provide us in detail! Now I'm a beginner and started exploring aquascaping. Thank you Green Aqua you guys are the best!!
Awesome video Balazs! So much info and great tips on how to deal with algae! So informative! I have watched it twice already! Great to know the basics! THANK YOU!
At first I thought you are going to talk about a new LG oled tv review LOL :D just because I had been watching tv review videos in the past few weeks. BTW thanks for the video it was great and very useful. :)
I really enjoy these informative videos. I just brought home my 225 gallon aquarium (850L) and I have one oase biomaster thermo 850 canister filter. Our house is at 69F or 20.5C which is why i bought the thermo version. Should I add another biomaster 850? It will be a heavily planted tank with both rocks (haven't decided which rocks yet) and several pieces of twisted galapagos jungle wood (currently soaking them to remove tanins).
Thank you for this video,it is very helpfull! Please think about make a video about how to remineralise the ro water, what kind of salt to use, what about the good tds ecc.. This video has an amasing basic instinct end! Fantastic! It makes me laugh a lot! Thank you! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Another tutorial I wish I would have seen when I started aquascaping. I think you aright, better to invest in a good filtration system since the beginning. My experiment was to buy several tools which were not good enough, finally I got good filtration and I solved algae and fish health. Doing the After math, buy buying good tools since the beginning I would have saved more money!😄 RO water also is crucial to me.
Great video. I am new and having a great time learning. I have a new tank that I am learing with. It is in cycle state and so I am getting some algae. This is normal I know. My question is about ro water and re minerilizing it. You say to get it to 120tds. I do this but what about fertz. They raise the tds to about 200 plus. Is this normal? Or should I have fertz and minerals at a total of 120tds? I also watched your fert video that put me to sleep. Lol but you never mention if it's a total tds or 120tds plus fertz.
@@GreenAquaShop ok so not to worry if higher then 120. Now I live west coast Canada. What brand gh and fert would you recommend? Right now I am using Flourish from Seachem. But not sure about what gh to use. So many.

Excellent video guys, you are a beacon of hope in the world of aquascaping. As a side note: agal spores are made of sporenine, which renders them virtually indestructible, even using powerful solvents that may be the cause of their usual comeback
Yes, resilient little things. :) Cheers!
Great Tips on combating Algae from Green Aqua Rock star Balaz. You are the reason I am subscribed to green aqua, though you made me spend a lot recently but it ended up useful for me. I wish I stop seeing your Vedios and save some money 🤪but you know what, i love your videos coz you inspire too👍
LOL, if you have your tank gear ready and set up, then your costs will go significantly down. :)
@@GreenAquaShop thanks for your kind reply, u r the best in what u do
Very useful video on algae, thx for that.
But I will not get that last scene out of my head for a while. You are crazy! :D

I'm inspired by your videos and thank you for all the great information you provide us in detail! Now I'm a beginner and started exploring aquascaping. Thank you Green Aqua you guys are the best!!
Oh thanks. I needed this video. I can prevent algae better than i used to years ago. But it is still a pain.
Practice makes the master!
Green Aqua, at 3:50 you described my whole aquarium owning story extremely accurately. This video was made for me. Haha

Awesome video Balazs! So much info and great tips on how to deal with algae! So informative! I have watched it twice already! Great to know the basics! THANK YOU!
You are welcome, glad you liked this one too, Mike.
At first I thought you are going to talk about a new LG oled tv review LOL :D just because I had been watching tv review videos in the past few weeks. BTW thanks for the video it was great and very useful. :)
LOL, we could've done that but this is an older one. :)
As usual great video , lots of useful information. Cheers guys
Cheers Mark!
Most awaited video......really enjoyed it

Thanks for watching us. :)
You guys are truly wizzards. Even the annoying adv from youtube was insync. -> LG. Made me spill my tea. :) Keep up the good work!
Cheers, well we have no control over the ads. But cheers!
@@GreenAquaShop I know, but this was just way too funny not to share. Cheers! 😉
;)
I really enjoy these informative videos. I just brought home my 225 gallon aquarium (850L) and I have one oase biomaster thermo 850 canister filter. Our house is at 69F or 20.5C which is why i bought the thermo version. Should I add another biomaster 850? It will be a heavily planted tank with both rocks (haven't decided which rocks yet) and several pieces of twisted galapagos jungle wood (currently soaking them to remove tanins).
Cool video, thank you very much, very well documented and very fun :)
Thank you for this video,it is very helpfull!
Please think about make a video about how to remineralise the ro water, what kind of salt to use, what about the good tds ecc..
This video has an amasing basic instinct end! Fantastic! It makes me laugh a lot! Thank you! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
LOL, cheers. Your idea is noted!
Love your channel❤ But times change, look for PINK Aquarium. Maybe you like the new way without CO2 devices😊
you a good presenter ....keep watching always whenever i can.keep it up...good luck...sri lanaka..
Thanks for the support!
@@GreenAquaShop 🙏🙏🙏
Super excited for my new 60p build with a oase biomaster 350. My current 20gal cube has a built in filter which I think is holding me back.
Good luck! External filters are alway good!
Dear Green Aqua, Balazs-san, you'd be proud to know your simple advice on CO2 timing has resolved the algae outbreak. Thank you once again!
Oh, great news! Thanks for the feedback! Cheers!
Yeah!
I love so much this guy 💗 my favorite Chanel ever
Cheers Gabriela. :)
Very helpful video. The last couple seconds was hilarious!
Cheers! :)
Yes, ferts will raise the TDS.
@@GreenAquaShop ok so not to worry if higher then 120. Now I live west coast Canada. What brand gh and fert would you recommend? Right now I am using Flourish from Seachem. But not sure about what gh to use. So many.
Sok sikert!
Nice job with this video, you did a great job explaining the various algae and what to do. Nice job!
Thanks for your support. 🙏😇
Great video! Thank you for all these informations! And the end of the video "basic instinct style" makes me laugh so much! You are amazing! Thank you!

Enjoyed the video and it was very informative and helpful. hope it will help us to control algae in our aquarium.
Also thank you for mentioning my pic.. Will definitely work on staghorn algae 😊👍
Gogogo, thanks for the comment my friend. :)
Great work, invaluable information, thanks! Also thanks for involving girls to channel activities more and more. Channel has now become very dynamic, interesting. And still "Welcome to the exhausting world of algae scaping" :) Or how I would put it "Welcome to the exhausting world of algae scraping"
Cheers, glad you appreciate our production effort!
I currently have black beard algae on my spider wood and It was D.I.S.G.U.S.T.I.N.G
I also love how everyone who sees my tank irl (people who never keep planted tank) just love everything bout it,like in their mind it was perfect.Meanwhile I was stressing bout the diatoms algae, the green algae on the glass and the snail outbreaks 😂
Yeah, bba is the worst of it all.
