I'd like to ad that in certain situations you can have air in the system formed by cavitation at the impeller. This is caused bij restrictions on the vacuumend (intake) of the filter. In my case it was an inline heater that restricted flow (JBL 1902 so 16 mm hose with a 13 mm heater). Takeaway for me was that mixing hose sizes to save money ended up costing me more in the longrun becouse the impeller had visible damage from cavitation. Hope it helps someone out there. Oh and keep up the good work guys!

The Green Aqua filter media configuration isn't the 'conventional' way but after trying it for a few months the results speak for themselves! Bought my oase biomaster 600 thermo at Green Aqua 2 months ago. It is doing a Great job on my 180 liters Dutch style aquarium. Easy pre filter and the Inside is still as clean as Day 1. It is only making more noise than expected.
Usually, filters get a little noisier above 1000lph. If this is a humming noise you still can use sound isolating panels in your cabinet. If this is an air noise then with to check tubing etc to make sure no air is leaking

What I’ve learned by dabbling in the reef keeping side of the hobby is that EVERY surface in the aquarium can host beneficial bacteria. Porous rocks can fill the same role as filter media, because that’s what filter media is made out of. You don’t need a ton of filter media in a canister filter to efficiently process ammonia, just enough surface area in general to host the bacteria, and enough flow to bring the ammonia to them.
Correct. I have a densely populated, planted aquarium with only coarse filter foam and Purigen against brown colour. The sand filters too. Nitrate levels are stable after I fertilize it with every water change. With high density filter media with fine filter mesh I had the constant issue of twisted plant leaves and constantly low Nitrate and iron levels. Doing this I don't need a skimmer, less fertilizer... of course, one can pump in a ton of money to fix filter errors. But that's not the elegant solution. Filter sponge has been sufficient for longer than 30 years and it will be for the next 30 years.

I respect the Green Aqua crew. Their tanks and guidance are top notch. That said, I can’t bring myself to agree with the guidance to put fine filter mesh after the biological media. ALL mechanical media should be in front of the biological media to ensure the bio media gets the cleanest possible water. The benefit is that it keeps the pores in good bio media from clogging. This is critical to have any hope of generating anaerobic bacteria that can convert nitrates to free nitrogen (true full cycle) deep in the middle of the bio media.

Hi , i have the eheim classic, i am only using eheim substrate Pro, purigen and filter floss. I am wondering how much clearance required on top for the filter to work efficiently? i fill up with bioballs, floss and purigen and when add in the last plastic guard, i do need some pressure to press the power head down. Thanks.
thanks guys, really loving the content! hope you could give us tips also for light intensity across different aquarium light brands (like best Chihiros WRGB settings ;) )
I do have some of the filters presented. EHEIM Filters can be very silent. I also have an EDEN 501, a cheap filter but works great, and a Aquaclear 20. The classic model of Eheim is difficult to prime, even terrible. I added a double tap to get the maintenance and the suction exercises much easier. I do it using the head of the filter and looking to avoid water gets out. It works pretty good.( I discovered it after a long time of priming session hahaha). Otherwise my Eheim Experience 150 works good too. Thanks for this. Cheers guys! P.D I like your shirt Balazs. ;)
Very nice explanation, aquarium measurement is 55 37 30, if I buy a filter that converts 700l to this, is there a possibility that it will be too much? I would be very pleased with your answers.
Love the channel guys, I have subscribed! Quick question that I can't find anywhere through, I am in the process of setting up a planted ADA 120p tank (120cm x 50cm x 50cm - 273L) like the ones in your shop (medium amount of plants, not heavy, with just around 15-20 tetra's + clean up crew). I understand you use the Eheim 1200 XL / 2080 for this size however I'd prefer to use the Oase Biomaster filters due to the pre filter functionality which would be easier to maintain than the Eheim. What would you recommend if wanting to use an Oase solution: 1x Oase 850 (would this be enough) or 2x Oase 600? Many thanks in advance!
Great video, especially in that it covers several important filters. Do you rate aquarium spray bars or do you think lilly jet glass tubes are a better way to go. Thanks for any advice you have.
It's nice of you to speak about the noise and to give advice about it, that's a big parameter when choosing a filter, brands to advertise enough on it I think. Thank you for that video, really, I've been waiting for real tips on this and now I've got them! Would you have any tips for really small aquarium? Like for 10l or 20l tops (like shrimps only or betta only)? It's a big commitment (money wise) to buy an external filter for those types of aquariums and it seems over-the-top ("flow wise"), internal filters are taking space which... well, it's small already so it's not ideal, and hang-on filter (honest opinion, I find them ugly) are too noisy for a bedroom for me... So would you know a small external filter that would do the trick? I'm always amazed by your literal bucket of green tea! xD
LOL Fanny, I love that cup. :) Anyway, I would go with an Experience filter, the smallest one, still a bit big for 10 liter, but for a 20 liter it is fine, you can hide it in the cabinet too.
Did we miss any practical tips/tricks? Let us know in the comment below! :)

Great video, thanks for sharing. I have heard that you should never use Vaseline on the seals as it can degrade the silicone rubber. How true this is I do not know.

Glad you like this. Cheers!
Eheim 2236 is a good ideia for aquarium of the 96L planted?
Love all his video he really bringing the good and happiness vibes.. keep it up 👍👍💥💥
Will do, cheers!
Thanks.
Great Video as usual! When filling trays in canister filter, do you fill them to (or near) the top - halfway? Thanks
thanks guys, really loving the content! hope you could give us tips also for light intensity across different aquarium light brands (like best Chihiros WRGB settings ;) )
Noted! Cheers!
Have they done the video?
I do have some of the filters presented. EHEIM Filters can be very silent. I also have an EDEN 501, a cheap filter but works great, and a Aquaclear 20. The classic model of Eheim is difficult to prime, even terrible. I added a double tap to get the maintenance and the suction exercises much easier. I do it using the head of the filter and looking to avoid water gets out. It works pretty good.( I discovered it after a long time of priming session hahaha). Otherwise my Eheim Experience 150 works good too. Thanks for this. Cheers guys!
P.D I like your shirt Balazs. ;)
Yeah Luis, Classic filters need taps if they don't have. Cheers!
I was going to build aquarium tomorrow and this video showed up 1 day before :D
Nice timing. :) Good luck with your build!

You are welcome, glad you appreciate the production effort.
Great video, especially in that it covers several important filters. Do you rate aquarium spray bars or do you think lilly jet glass tubes are a better way to go. Thanks for any advice you have.
vídeo muito completo, parabéns pela aula sobre filtros.
😊🙏💚
Can I change the filter pad at the first step of the filter into filter mesh
Filter mesh at first step is not recommended - it will clog quickly.
