    Very cool to see you both get back to competition mode. Macky, that rocky section, you handled it like a champ. Always helps when people get out of the way of progress! Syd, plenty to be proud of, coming back from injury. Very awesome to see you getting ahead of alot of folks. Looks like the start of a great race season for you both!

    Macky - Smashed it
    Syd - Smashed it
    Just because you don't beat last year time doesn't mean much. More riders, less clear track, blah blah blah. The main thing is that you both did very well, rode nice, didn't crash and had a blast. Roll on day 2.

    One of the reasons I enjoy your channel is because you two are so nice. It is amazing how you manage to be nice in situations where heart rate is high and adrenaline is pumping as crazy. It's so cool that there are nice people among professionals and celebrities, after all. Now, regarding the race, I'm amazed how fast you can ride your xc bikes on terrain like that. Those descents at that speed... I am aware you're professionals, but still... And bikes are in one piece. Congratulations on your races. I know you wanted better results, but considering everything, I really applaud you. Good luck in next races

    I'll be 70 in August, so the section of the climb from the cut off for Falcon Flow at around time 8:30 to the cutoff for Eagle/LPS at 8:40 is HEINOUS. I can do it without stopping, but I'm in my 50 tooth almost the entire time. Obviously, you were much faster than that!

    Cool vid! I'm a Florida guy so I don't understand the crypto blah blah rule about the soil! Please explain! Awesome showing!

    • @GeekonaBike
      @GeekonaBike 2 года назад

      The soil around the trail is Very Fragile, It crumbles it U look at it to hard. once crumbled the wind picks it up & blows it away. I'd guess the annual rain amount in Moab is around 6 inches, about what U get in FL on a good day.

    • @sydandmacky
      @sydandmacky  2 года назад +1

      It's also alive! I'm no expert but there is a type of bacteria (fungus?) that grows on the soil and makes it look all black and crusty and it takes years to grow back if it gets trampled. It's very cool and worth protecting!

I just don't understand why Syd was so far back when lining up. It was like she had 8 items her cart and was behind a long line of people with their full carts in the 10 items or less lane at the grocery store.

    I just subscribed and started watching this most recent race series. As someone who is just getting into mountain biking in my 40s and has done a couple of 25 mi races this year, what I love about how you film is that it portrays a very real representation of racing. I like seeing the preparations, the start, the jostling for position, even Macky’s spot-on notes about racing etiquette. Watching this feels like watching a race I’ve been in, and I think it’s cool there’s a channel that talks about how hard it is, rather than just showing highlights like many do. Thanks for wearing a camera during your races, you guys are doing great! Rooting for you both!

I can also relate to MTB racing when you want to pass someone and you are chomping at the bit waiting for the right opportunity.Sometimes you come up behind someone you are naturally faster than but they just don't wanna yield. Probably a good thing they stopped the race above the "Jackass Canyon" section or there would probably be a few serious injuries or even deaths.

    So the first time we rode Moab our ride guide used the term/ euphemism Exposure to let use know that it would be a long fatal drop over the side of the trail if you lost control and too far and over the edge. Like the popular saying goes, “Moab ain’t no joke”it’s the real deal.
