I heard almost everyone complaining about day one's course, but I thought those were some of the coolest trails I've ever ridden. I definitely want to go back and hit those trails on my dirt bike also.

"GREAT", race Macky! Loved the first person camera view, it put me on the edge of my seat. You could really see it was a narly and wicked course. It's awsome seeing Syd, beack on the bike as well! Can you guys make a video on how to double wrap the bar tape on a gravel bike using an old inner tube underneath to get more cushion and comfort for your hands?

Great to see Syd back to health, and Macky fully recovered from the faceplant/endo off the back porch. I goofed myself up last Halloween at Gooseberry Mesa, rupturing my right Achilles tendon with a stupid fall. Looking forward to getting a new crew of Flagstaff Grom enduro riders for our Ponderosa Enduro team, hopefully see you at some races next year. Good luck! Great POV video. We are in the middle of coaching our HS NICA XC MTB racing season, looking to possibly take the AZ state title, have some amazing athletes, male and female this year, and many of them already have super enduro skills. Boy was I nervous before your last 2 stages! Hoping you made the right bike choice and worried about those steep rocky sections! Congrats Macky, you nailed it. I am especially impressed with your thorough preparation. Watching the POV videos the night before is above and beyond what most racers do I suspect. Good on ya! Oh, and excellent video :) I hope we will see a video about Syd fixing your creaking wheel after the first day... ;)

What a great race and might I say what a great year you have had! Lots of variety and it really makes me smile to watch you two at the races. I've gotten to get out there 3 times this year and even took a 4th place in Winter Park (sorry for the shameless self promotion :-) but just so glad to be toeing the line after last year. Cool to run into you guys at the races as well and can't wait to see what you are up to next.

Your race recaps are the best out there. It's very informative, interesting, and compelling. I look foward to watching them as much as any other RUclips videos out there! Only thing I would love to see...is a GoPro Hero 9. That would tidy up the footage stability and keep the folks like me who get motion sickness, an even more enjoyable veiwing experience!

After watching pre ride -I thought for sure you were gonna choose the other bike. That bike descends but can also pedal, but you chose the bike that can pedal but also descend!! Clear as mud🤔 (bikers get it)!

The new Shimano Scylence 12-speed hubs get creaky, but are pretty easy to fix!

From your KOM videos and how you and Syd review a course for lines has taught me a lot. I don't race but they have made my riding faster and smoother.
What brand is your portable bike repair stand? Is it the same as you use at home? (MMathisCa)
It's the Feedback Sports Pro Stand, and yes, same one we use at home. Looks like they're out of stock currently, but this is the next version down of it and the only difference is that it doesn't have a quick release seat post clamp: bit.ly/3CRyhZY
Super interesting that a pro enduro racer would be happy riding pretty short travel bikes (both basically trail bikes) on an enduro course.... #geometryiseverything

What do you think was the big differentiator between the top two riders and you on day 1? Knew trails, bigger bikes, different gearing, etc? Given how fast you were flying I didn’t see how they picked up 20-30 seconds.
After day 1, the leader was about 3% ahead of me. I think it could have been a combo of the things you mentioned as well as the fact that I haven't been doing a lot of Enduro recently. Or he might just be riding faster than me this year 😁

It's a great trail tire! If you want something even more aggressive (more for Enduro) that's good in the wet, check out the Mota.

Nice race! Why not run the more aggressive Mazza up front? I'm assuming you don't like the slower rolling.
Haven't spent as much time on the Mazza as the Martello, so not as comfortable on it yet. Planning to run it some more later this season to get used to it!

Maybe less specifically visualization, but I did review the second day's courses a couple times and figured out some lines from it 👍

Possible... We'll have to see what happens and how we're feeling at that point on the season.
I am a 42 year old male who just found out how great mountain biking is. Are there competitions for real real amatures that just love the sport and to have the experience of a competition but definitely do not have the preparation that these professional (or even some "ammatures")?
We'd recommend starting with a local cross-country race. The trails tend to be rideable for everyone and they usually have a beginner (or Cat 3) category for new riders! It's a great place to meet other people, find friends to ride with and get connected with your local racing scene.
